Popped and poured, as the basketball had started and didn’t plan. Black cherry and black raspberry fruit, with spice notes more muted than prior tastes, and didn’t note any smoky notes either. Still sits in that perfect seam of savory and sweet that I love about Oregon PN…well balanced acidity, and tannins well-integrated. I see others’ notes saying time to drink up, and I suspect that’s right: I used to get the ‘complex’ vibe from this one, over the other Le Cadeau wines, and didn’t notice that this time. Paired with cheese board, and went especially well with the Brillat Savarin (from Burgundy?)…

Le Cadeau takes advantage of Oregon's climate to produce chardonnay more akin to Burgundy. There's already a sense of balance between the fruit, the minerality and the other spice & herb. harmonics. The neutral oak adds a light touch of toast. Refreshing and perhaps in need a year or so to further unwind. I'm digging most of the Oregon Chards I buy. 13.5% alc 91+

Pretty wine. Strawberry, raspberry fruit, some underlying spice, earth and mineral. Soft tannins and acidity. Semi fruit forward style, a little more than I like, but still delicious.

Pop n' pour. No detailed notes, but this showed beautifully right out of the gate, with an intense and yet incredibly pretty red cherry perfume. Really nice wine that's ready to go now but will likely drink well for at least another decade.

Calling an Audible (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN): Slightly cloudy medium plus red color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour. This was a redux of a bottle back in August. This was excellent again. Tart cherry, hints of red currants, very earthy with distinct damp forest floor, a bit murky, fleshy red fruits, with lovely spice notes. Loved it.

Drank very well tonight following a 3hr slox-ox in my Burg glasses & btl. Served in Burg glasses around the high 50s/low 60s. Perfuse aromas of berries, spice & roses. Palate is elegant & lifted with a mix of dark & red fruit along with more spice, mineral and other harmonics. 92/93 With time this will easily be 93+. 13.2% alc

First of 12. (had a lot of 2008's and 2010's to get through first) Poured through Venturi first night; kept in half decanter for second night. Dark crimson color, with a hint of clear at the edge--so little sign of age. Black raspberry and black cherry with a hint of spice. No sign of the sassafrass that I loved in the 2010. Not too sweet, but certainly not savory or stemmy. Good acidity, so fresh feel. Tannins fully integrated, so this was silky smooth. Only a medium finish, mostly front/roof of mouth. Agree with VinoMe that this seems more California style than Oregon.

Our first of two '19 Estate Chardonnay from Le Cadeau to celebrate Christmas Eve 2023 w/ our "kids". Served with Mini Crab cakes. Wonderful! Uber balanced & elegant. Lifted richness. Nothing ponderous here. Harnessed intensity with a good sense of minerality laced w/ citrus & stone fruit. Impressive fragrance in the glass. I find Oregon fruit to offer a more classic expression of Chardonnay than Ca. Lacks the heft of many top Ca Chards and comes in at better value. Weighs in at 12.9 alc., making my point. 93+

A slight leaker I found while doing some rearranging in the cellar, so it was popped and poured with dinner. Slight bricking- looks much more youthful than it is. Spiced plum notes; a touch hot. The fruit has faded a bit on the palate leaving it feeling slightly out of sorts. Medium finish.

A blend of Dijon and Pommard clones; 95% whole cluster; All native yeasts, 18 months in oak.
Decanted.
A deeply intriguing nose that shows off scents of blueberry, plums, dark cherry and newton that come laced with scents of mocha, chocolate mint, suede, spice, potpourri, nutmeg and cardamom, and hints of pipe tobacco, dusty earth and smoke.
The palate is medium-plus bodied in weight and fleshy with juicy acidity. Dry with round tannins and flavors blueberry, dark cherry, and wild berry, with notes of pepper, spices, mocha, bruised mint, herbs, dusty earth and tobacco that finish with hints of leather and vegetal. The finish lingers.

Opened 30 minutes ahead (a short decant would have been better). Beautiful Red and blue fruit along with spice notes on the nose. More focused red and blue fruits on the palate. Whole cluster complexity brings out some earth and spice. This drank significantly younger and more focused than a 2017 Stoller Reserve drank alongside. 93 points.

Was great on its own, but comparing to the 2012 Merci reserve really is challenging. This seems to favor acidity and fall short on fruit, which makes sense given the colder year.

Tasted at the “in town” tasting room in Dundee, OR which is a useful experience as this winery is rather complex to fully understand with its multiple winemakers and unique but varied “terroir” and history. I can’t do a lot of justice to that here but I would recommend it for a good understanding for what their wines are all about. This wine was the result of 2 barrels of production with a mix of Cote Est and Merci, 50% new oak for 15 months, native yeast start but also inoculated. 14.1% ABV. Medium to dark Ruby color. Definitely more oak derived aromatics yet also decent purity of fruit with mostly cherry notes. Earthy with baking spice and a nice chewy texture. Moderately long finish. Drinking quite well now.

It was 15% whole cluster fermented and is 13.4% ABV. Floral, mostly violets on the nose. Sappy texture, more tannic with earthy strawberry and raspberry but only a hint of cherry in the fruit profile. Definitely more tannic than the 2019 and probably in need of more cellaring.

Bright acidity and lots of aromatic freshness. Both apple and citrus with a bit of cream on the palate. Good minerality. Solid but not that memorable.

I can’t do a lot of justice to that here but I would recommend it for a good understanding for what their wines are all about. This wine is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir pressed together and barrel fermented with cultured yeast. Easy to drink, though with a hint of tannin, mostly strawberry fruited with good depth of flavor and ageable, in that this doesn’t seem to be a rosé that needs to be drunk immediately and can last and perhaps improve for a couple/few years.

I can’t do a lot of justice to that here but I would recommend it for a good understanding for what their wines are all about. This wine is a proper ruby crimson color but slightly lighter than the 2021 Rocheux. It was 5% whole cluster fermented and aged in 38% new French oak barrels. It comes in at 13.1% octane. The nose is very aromatic and complex. Palate is mostly a flinty red berry melange (strawberry and raspberry) with a short finish. Vibrant acidity and probably better with more time in the cellar.

This wine is made roughly from equal, nearly half, parts Pommard and Dijon 777 clones with a splash of Wädenswil. It was 15% whole cluster fermented and was aged in mostly previously used French oak barrels. 13.4% ABV. Classic medium ruby color. Nose of roses, vanilla, violets, and strawberry bramble. Palate has vibrant acidity and freshness with cherry, strawberry, wet stones and somewhat sappy extract but is a little short on the finish. Nice wine with room to improve with age.

Medium dark red color. PNP, drank a couple glasses over 2 hours. Earth and soil out front, followed by red cherry, underbrush, pepper and spices. The palate is very evenhanded, medium bodied, fine tannins, cherry, underscored by tangy strawberry-rhubarb notes, earth and sous bois, touches of tobacco and spices on the back end. Right in the wheel house. Very good 92+ to 93pts.

Cracking the whip; 10/16/2023-10/23/2023 (Eagan, MN): N: Funky and fresh red fruits, some gooseberries, and tart earth.

P: Dark, earthy red fruits, a gently sour mineral note, new leather, plump mushrooms and a gentle funk.

This has some age but I don’t think enough to show this kinda funk, it’s almost like tertiary notes but it's not (most likely terroir). Might want to drink these now, unless you want more of everything mentioned, cellar for longer!
