Stunning wine! Brought to Napa in the City event in NYC and it blew away the table. Super fine bubbles, delicate texture. Couldn’t ask for more.

Pop and pour. Felt big and plush out of the gate. Very nice structure still holding things in place after 17 years. Great balance. Felt almost too extracted and big. Just skirted the line there. Lovely with our steak. About an hour later the raisiny notes slowly started popping up. Still a pleasant drink but now different. I know the vintage was crappy and this is likely one of the better performers from Napa. And I’ve had the 2003 Scarecrow which was heralded, but it is awful. So, in summary , if you still are cellaring this, drink soon. Still yummy. And might be among the best of the 2003’s out there from Napa. But won’t surprise anyone with more cellaring.

Corked! I’m sorry. I like Aaron but the most Cork-affected wines I’ve had in 3 years belong to Pott. Makes me wonder....

This was pop and pour was a bit tightly wound initially, but after 2 hours it really opened up nicely. Gotta say this was a pretty great performance for this 13 year old wine. Still had great tannic grip and good balance. Fruit profile was dark and not overly sweet or too “fruity”, which I find myself noticing in many aged Pott wines these days. Very happy and impressed with this. Wish there wasn’t so little of this produced in their first vintage.

Nose is very fruit forward, plush and extracted in style. Palate has great structure though.

I’ve had the 14, 15, and 17 vintages in the last year and those are very different in style than this 05. I know they changed a lot of winemaking styles around 2013, perhaps that is part of the difference. Whatever the case, I won’t buy more of the 2005 but will buy more of the newer vintages.

Phenomenal wine. Just gorgeous nose of dark cherry, minerals and tar. Palate is so amazing. Seems subtle but becomes huge and encompassing. So elegant. Does not feel overripe. Outstanding. One of the best wines of the year for me.

Opened now for 30 hours and wow did it need it. Last night it was so tight and ungiving. The fruit was there but really hidden in the enormous tannin. Almost no oak element at all. Those who claim this is another over-Oaked and over-extracted Saint Emilion are way off base. Today, this wine is really opening it’s wings. Nose is more inviting but the palate is welcoming, yet still showing the grippy, fine tannins. This wine will last decades and I won’t open another for ten years. Really impressed.
