I wasn't really thrilled with this, very herbal, black cherry fruit, chewy, stemmy, fairly full bodied. Put it this way, i drank the chard with my steak. |

9/30/2015 - rocknroller wrote: 91 pointsWednesday Afternoon Mini (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)): Dark red color. Aerated into glasses with initial pour; then decanted the remaining amount for an hour. Drank 2 glasses over 2 plus hours. Classic CDP in every way, lovely nose with violets, leather, garrigue, and red fruits. The palate has cherry, funk, earth, leather, spice, on a medium body with somewhat firm tannins. The air still was helpful and this evolved through some initial funk and a touch of heat to show very, very well. 91+ to 92pts. Still drinking well, but I wouldn't hold these a lot longer, couple years or so. |

9/30/2015 - rocknroller wrote: 88 pointsWednesday Afternoon Mini (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)): Very dark red color. Decanted for an hour plus; drank 1+ glass over 3 hours. Maybe I'm missing the boat on this wine. First, it doesn't taste like CDP, and second, it doesn't taste like a Rhone wine. If I drank this blind I would guess a South American blend. It had that typical green, herbaceousness that I'm not particularly fond of. Plenty of ripe black cherry fruit and vanilla go with the modern style, new wood and astringent tannins. Two of the 3 of us felt underwhelmed, though we all felt it got better with more glass time. However, the green element did not change significantly. I'm not convinced this will be better with more age. |

9/30/2015 - rocknroller wrote: 92 pointsWednesday Afternoon Mini (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)): Very dark purple/red color. PNP, drank several glasses over 3+ hours. This needed some air and kept getting better through the afternoon. Starting off a bit disjointed with some heat and edges, this rounded out very nicely and offered complexity and pleasure. While I won;t say this is my favorite style, it held together well and ultimately came off balanced. The nose has blackberry paste, boysenberry, tar, anise, spice. The palate is dense, full bodied, concentrated, blackberry liqueur, pepper, hints of savory emerge and complement the wood spice on the finish. The initial heat resolves and the oak integrates well over 30-60 minutes in glass. 92+pts. |

9/30/2015 - rocknroller wrote: 92 pointsWednesday Afternoon Mini (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)): Light-medium gold color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over an hour. This was still showing very nicely. Consistent with previous bottles, elegant and classic with nice lemon, Meyer lemon and orange peel aromas. The palate is mid weight with good acid and overall balance, fine with a nice texture, round with bright lemon and lemon chiffon, tangerine, citrus zest, spicebox and lighter mineral notes that transition to a medium plus finish. Very good. |

The nose shows dust, dark fruits of cassis and raspberry, tobacco, funky, . The palate is medium full bodied, cassis, black cherry, graphite, funky earthiness, grainy tannins. This took on weight and was just starting to show hints of the strong perfume of previous bottles. Much more like a bottle I had back in 2010. |

9/24/2015 - rocknroller wrote: 93 pointsNorth Shore Weekend; 9/24/2015-9/26/2015 (North Shore, MN): Medium red color. PNP, drank several glasses over 3 hours. Wow, this was singing tonight; amazing purity and finesse. Across the board, the 2011 Oregon pinots are really starting to shine so this should come as no surprise from Arterberry Maresh. The nose is captivating with lovely strawberry and red raspberries bolstered by such fine spices and cinnamon. As good as the nose is, the palate is better with the same glorious red berries with hints of currants, pepper. Medium body and such an elegant personality and purity, lifted, with a long finish. There's just a hint of graphite there too. We were both thrilled to drink this tonight and had a very hard time pacing ourselves. This bottle was akin to what I think chablis28 and Dave Dalluge experienced a few months ago. Outstanding. |

This was decidedly mineral driven tonight, lots of citrus on the nose and palate. The palate is sour citrus and this finishes a bit more chalky than ideal for me. |

This was the hedonistic wine of the night for me. IT hit on the fruit cylinders for sure. Plenty of black fruit, cassis, blackberry, with nice savory notes with blood meal on top of the spice box. The palate flows with similarities, black fruits, cassis, black berry, glycerin, savory, charcoal, mint and amazing depth on a long finish. My #2 WOTN and group #3. |

These are always so complex and sophisticated. There are subtleties that are had to describe but it comes together in every way and pleases to no end. The mouthfeel is spot on with good acid, a freshness of acid and fruit that blend so nicely into the spices and mushroom. Long on the finish and well integrated. This has years left. 94+pts. Two years since last tasting this and it is apparent that it is on the decline. Still really a nice wine, complete, balanced and complex with red fruit and leather on the nose, menthol, and spices. On the plate, probably the most resolved wine of the evening, blackberry liqueur, hints of cassis. still some firm tannins, and some red fruit that finishes. I'd finish thee rather soon. |

9/20/2015 - rocknroller wrote: 92 pointsHigh Scoring Aussies (Edina Country Club, Edina, MN): Pale gold color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. A really nice bottle, though, having had this enough times, I would have to say I have enjoyed these more on the younger side. Sill there is a vibrancy on the nose and palate with good acid and minerality along with some more muted tropical fruit, lemon chiffon, vanilla, some oak vs. its youthful exuberance. I still found this more vibrant, complex and just more enjoyable on the whole. It seems clear apparent that these peak at about 5 years now. 92+pts. |

On the front end, rather toasted and buttery, developing to show more breadth with citrus and hazelnut. Full bodied with lots of diverse citrus character, lemon, oak, and toast. I liked this, a bit more oaky and buttery and a tad bit thinner compared to the Leeuwin. |

9/19/2015 - rocknroller wrote: 90 pointsSouth American Stars (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Light gold color. PNP, from 500ml, drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. A nice young Sauternes really. The nose shows nectarine, tangerine, vanilla cream, spices and a light orange blossom note. The palate follows the nose closely; less body at this point, though i thought it took on some weight over the half hour and a sweetness that is handled fairly well by the acids. Pretty darn good value, and I do think this will age a bit. I'm curious to see this in 5 and 10 years. |

9/19/2015 - rocknroller wrote: 94 pointsSouth American Stars (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Very dark red/purple color. Decanted for 1 hour, drank 1 glass blind over an hour. There was little doubt this was an aussie shiraz and a fine one for sure. This was firing on all hedonistic cylinders off the bat. Great nose with roasted meats, savory, great aromatics, creosote, creme de cassis, blackberry. On the palate this is silky and full bodied, perfectly balanced, lusha dn round with creme de cassis, blackberry liqueur, tangy fruit, roasted meat, framboise, lively, black pepper and a long finish. Hands down WOTN taking 7 of 8 votes. |
