I would not expect greater intensity, concentration, or complexity for the price. Smoother riper tannins than I was expecting. Good QPR. |

I brought this to a restaurant and decanted it there and it was somewhat muted for most of the meal. This has dark fruits up front and it has that massive inky grip you find in Napa. However, this had much more balance and was far more polished and civilized along the way. For me, this isn’t remotely close to being in its prime. This should easily drink well for another decade plus. This paired well with a bone in filet mignon. Revisit 2030+ |

Nose was petty standard with dark fruits, some leather, tar and licorice and some violets. But I remember the palate having extra depth and expansiveness. Nice dark fruits with good sweetness and complexity as it combined with the florals and savory notes. Excellent for a $20 entry level Barbaresco. Roughly a 16/20. |

That's largely due to the fact my experience with red frizzante wines has always been sweet. Once you get past that, and get a little warmth into it, some nice dark berry pie flavors emerge. Has some red apple peel on the finish. Poured with a frothy mousse that quickly died back. Very crisp, with a big dose of chalky mineral. All in all, quite fun and enlightening. |
