5/8/2024 - MicklethePickle Likes this wine: NRPopped and pored; paired with Salisbury Steak. Nice purple color, and viscous. Nice Syrah fruit in the nose, nothing overpowering but very pure. Excellent palate, with acid perfectly playing foil to the rich fruit. Amazing how this producer makes such stellar wine from non-classified-area fruit. Yes they are more expensive than other wines from the same environs, but the quality in the bottle makes it a bargain. To me, Clape stands alone. Marvelous! 5-12-17-8: 92/100. |

5/7/2024 - aagrawal wrote: 93 pointsCoravin. Medium-deep ruby with some age-appropriate bricking; medium intensity aromatics, black fruits, a bit gamey, some minerality; palate is medium bodied, medium 13% alcohol, plums and black fruits, fabulous freshness throughout with medium-plus acidity, integrated tannin, a bit of iron; finish is medium length. Similar to my other experiences with Clape, this is very well built, well balanced, food friendly, enjoyable to drink, full of Northern Rhone character, but lacks the next-level complexity that Chave or Allemand usually provides. 93, ready to drink now. |

5/5/2024 - Sasha the Bear Likes this wine: 95 pointsTannins are about as integrated as one can ask for. After twenty minutes it’s perfection. Light smoke on leather and tobacco. Medium body. Ripe red fruit on the tongue but a savory middle. The finish is cherry and long. |

5/4/2024 - acyso wrote: 93 pointsSomewhat of an oddball as far as Clape is concerned. The nose shows more of a demure, red-fruited quality, though it has a slight hint of salinity and olive brine along with it. Fairly light on the palate, with nice acidity and a fairly resolved tannic presence. Very approachable and enjoyable now for its lightness and elegance, even if it's not as intense and powerful as I would have expected. |

4/30/2024 - cfk49 wrote: 95 pointsCrumbly cork typical of Clape of that era, but amazingly I was able to get it out in one piece. Very dark color still, no browning. A fascinating wine that needs about five hours in the decanter to fully blossom. Medium-full, but surprising finesse and subtlety; silkiness, dark plum and berry fruits, freshness. Kermit Lynch import, cellared since original release. |

4/12/2024 - yorkch Likes this wine: 93 pointsDelicious- give it another 10 years and it will be a knock-out wine. Tried it in zalto Universal - much more refined if a little muted. Reidel Vinum - more tannins present and lots more blue/black fruit. For me, it’s not worth the money compared to other Cornas - Vincent Paris’s range is much less expensive and can be wonderful. |

2/29/2024 - Jamieson12o Likes this wine: 93 pointsSyrah - Rhone vs SA - Cabotte with the NLWTS (Cabotte): Funny nose; generously tertiary with some sweet redder fruit still showing. Again quite austere on the palate; tennis still present but lovely and integrated. Plenty of fruit and life left, albeit not ‘generous’. Still feels like it could do with a bit of time, amazingly. |
