11/24/2011 - Edward A wrote: 98 pointsGift from private collection stored in ideal temperature and humidity in custom cellar. Cork was split mid-way, but bottle was otherwise perfect. Decanted. Initial nose was very complex with dark currant and cherry notes, definitely farm-y, but cleared shortly thereafter. After decanting for 4 hrs, served with Thanksgiving dinner. Beautiful orange tinged hue. Delicious full body with very rounded tannins. Nice cedar notes on the palate, even a vague hint of mint. Earthy, well-balanced, delicious. |

2004 Ramey Syrah Sonoma Coastmore |
6/26/2010 - Edward A wrote: 91 pointsPurchased from HDH, stored at 55 deg. 14.8% ABV. Deep dark color. Nose was immediate fruit bomb and high alcohol content was very evident. Initial palate also with loads of fruit. After 30-60 minutes, the abundance of alcohol rounded out nicely to reveal balanced Syrah, typical of the varietal. Strong but not overpowering. Tannins have already smoothed out. Very drinkable right now. Finish was medium length, somewhat shorter than expected based on the initial nose. |
