Quick decant before drinking on its own. Blackberry pie and blueberry cheesecake on the nose. Raspberry, cherry, and blueberry provide a fruit-driven palate, adding fresh wild herbs, vanilla, and a cherry cola that is paired with nice acidity. Polished tannins on the finish with raspberry tea, pumpkin spice, and oak while still showing some freshness.

The wine shows warmth, overripe and marmelade versions of stone fruit, nectarine, grape jam, swwet jam notes, spice notes, thin oak frame.
Palate with light body, airy, youthful, stone fruit, elegant, smooth, evident sugar content, vanilla scented, candied and sugar coated fruit, med body, cuts rather shor.

Decanted for 45 minutes after pulling from cellar. Threw a good deal of sediment, and continued to do so throughout time of consumption. I think this is at the beginning of its drinking window. It showed off a a beautiful nose redolent of black cherries, tar, and leather. Mouth echoes nose, and is higher toned than might be expected given the wine’s color in the glass. The rim doesn’t show any sign of aging. There’s a certain rusticity here, with lovely earth and savory notes. I’d expect some improvement over the next few years as the soft tannins further resolve and the wine sheds its youthful character. Let next bottle stand up for a couple of days and then decant before serving.

Super cool wine. Rich mouthfeel, deep flavors. Fun to try side by side with the regular Flame Tokay, albeit 2020 vs 2022.

One of the best producers in Priorat, very good vintage - 92 points (Outstanding. Early maturing and accessible), Priorat is Priorat.
Let's see.
2 hours in the decanter.
Lovely, lovely aromas! Strong smell of cassis! What else? Vanilla, minerals, herbs, graphite, smoke, blueberry.
Taste? Big disappointment. Watery texture, diluted flavors. Big contrast between top notch aromas and so-so flavors. A lot of red cherries and herbs. Red currant, raspberry, orange. All of it would be great, but it's weak and chaotic.
Soft acidity and tannins. No - name finish.
I don't know why this wine is "no- name" wine, but I feel like I drunk Welch's grape juice 😱
Too old or what?

Both modern and a little rustic, which gives it some good character. Looking forward to following the evolution over the next 10-15 years.

Very nice
Too high-toned sweet on PnP for me, but with a decant this really shows nicely. Great wine with grilled sirloin cap and flank steak. Perfectly ripe Zin.

I've got another of these and want to lay it down, target ~2027

15.2% abv and it handles it easily

Highly concentrated, ripe/candied citrus notes, quince, lemon notes, some nutty notes from ageing, a few waxy notes, orange hints amidst saltiness.
Palate brine, citrus, candied notes tight, mineral, concentrated, 13.50%, high acidity, some rubbery notes, long finsh. Lively and youthful

Very nice on the nose when opened, oak, berries, violet. Medium to full body with bitter finishing. A decent one seems to have a lot of potential but need more complexity on the palate. Tried on day two also, still a lot on it. Very nice wine.

Much, much oaky-er than I remember in Napa. Great food wine (was great for Thanksgiving, but not really impressed as a standalone). Probably needs a meat component to pair — turkey, pork loin, etc.

Outstanding Rose from Malta DOK.
Intense pink color in the glass with mild aromas of aromas of strawberries, watermelon, apples and pomegranate.
On the palate, complex intermingling fruit flavors mirroring the wine’s aromas.
Medium bodied mouthfeel for a Rose. Pleasantly engaging acidity.
Great lingering and smooth finish.

Shared with a few friends around lunch time, saved half the bottle for the evening.

In the evening, the nose was incredible. Candied raspberry coulis with some herbal stem. The palate was not very intriguing--overly herbal and came across as a bit thin. Finish was a bit herbal as well.

Might just be too young and could be worth trying one with more age, but I wouldn't go out of your way to seek this out.

Ten (10) years removed since last visit. Decanted three (3) hours.
Deep purple in color. Abundant fruit has unfurled offering rich aromas of blackberry, blueberry & currant, with spiced accents of black pepper liquorice on underlying base of dusty earth, smoke and tobacco. Nearing full integration; tannins are softly textured with weighted presence on the palate. Measured acidity provides necessary lift required for voluptuous fruit leading to sustained mouth-coating finish. Should have a few more years of life left but on the backend of its drinking window. Lovely effort. Drink up!

One of the best aromas I have ever seen in my wine "career"
Not too complicated, but very strong and well defined aromas of red and black cherry, plum, figs, raisins, tobacco and milk chocolate.
Taste? Love-hate relationship.
One sip is full of juicy red cherry, strawberry, and red currant. The next sip is full of acidity and black pepper. Definitely the wine is over the top.
Big disappointment after wonderful, ageless smell.

I am guessing the wine got at least 1-2 hours of slo-O before tasting, but honestly not sure about the bottle treatment/preparation before the tasting, i.e., it could be more.

This was part of a blind tasting that included the following wines:

1. 2010 Abreu Thorevilos
2. 2021 Scarecrow
3. 2015 Colgin Tychson Hill
4. 2019 Sassicaia
5. 2019 Domaine Trapet Chapelle-Chambertin
6. 2021 Bella Oaks La Genie
7. 2014 Caymus Special Selection
8. 2014 Vice Versa Magnificent 7

2021 Scarecrow - The elegance of this wine was amazing! Layers of brooding dark fruit (mostly blackberry and cassis) with plush tannins and some forest floor, sweet tobacco, cocoa, and sweet oak. The purity of fruit, balance and structure were close to perfection! I loved this wine! 96+ to 97 and will undoubtedly reach perfection down the road!

As a side note, I was surprised after the reveal because I would have thought this wine would be extremely tight! I rarely drink wines this young, but I understand people who open up some of these wines immediately upon release...I guess there is a window there!

Outstanding quality. Needs a few hours to open up. Very fresh and alive. Lovely bright fruit on the palate. Light pears, green apple, fresh florals, a hint of seaspray and saline.

More Chablis-like than white burgundy IMO. Stylistically different from Morgen Long and Walter Scott, but right up there in terms of quality. Should do very well in the cellar and excited to try the 2023 when it hits shelves.

2010 Abreu Thorevilos - This wine was a slight disappointment given the pedigree. I expected much more. Don't get me wrong, the wine was very good, showing lots of dark fruit, and some tertiary flavors (earth, tobacco, graphite and new leather) but it lacked that "wow" factor I expect from Abreu. This also may have suffered slightly from the two wines that immediately followed (which I liked better. i.e., Scarecrow and Colgin). A solid 95, which is a great score, but I always expect Abreu to be closer to perfection....yeah, I know, it's a high bar!

Inky in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing age at all.

Pretty nose with nice complexity.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and complex.

Showing red and black fruits with tobacco, earth, chocolates, spices, coffee, peppercorn and graphite.

Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This interesting red Italian is drinking very nicely now. Very unique and shows like it was aged in oak, but it wasn't.

This 8 year old is still showing very fresh. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 to 5 years and see how it evolved.

100% Piedirosso grepes were aged for 12 months in amphora vats and 12 months in steel. A tiny production of only 1,000 bottles.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$150.

Currently retailing around $200 or more, I paid a usurious $16.65 in the wayback. Gosh, I last drank a bottle eleven years ago and I see that my TN then is the same as that which I would write now - which I probably wont as it is largely redundant. An observation though: old wine is not like new wine. A statement more self-evident is probably hard to imagine; but I think for those drinkers without experience of old wines there is a tendency to dismiss them as past it or just vinegar or something equivalently pejorative. This wine is NOT vinegar. The color is brilliant ruby with a clear rim and not a hint of bricking or yellow. Aroma combining old cigar boxes with floral notes. Quite tart red berry fruit with rewarding length. I found that it improved over some four hours exposure. I kept sipping more before retiring.

Agree with other notes this is a textbook aged BDX. Never had this chateau but have a general understanding of their style. Decanted off sediment and followed for an evening.

Dusty leather, cedar, dried tobacco on the nose. Still some powerful rounded fruit on the finish that showed equal to dusty earth and clay pot. A good bit of tannins still present, as they faded with time in the decanter the aged notes of this wine became more prominent. Very long finish. Towards the end of the night this was drinking like a proper Claret.

Drinking in a very good spot if you are a Claret fan. Obviously high quality and a very complete, well rounded wine that is worthy of its fame.

I don't know how to pin down the fruit, but I would say ripe cherry and dark fruit with great acidity. Tannins are silky, smooth, and very well-integrated. The nose is sexy, and the 15% ABV shows its head. Not in a bad way, but it gets you salivating and says drink me. It has a pretty decent and long finish. It makes you want to take another sip and gives you a hedonistic experience. Overall, it is a great wine, and it makes me kick myself for not buying more at the retailer that had this for less than $32 a bottle. Sadly, I only purchased two. Excellent QPR for that price, but I don't think the $40 and above prices on Wine-Searcher are worth it. On the bright side, the 2022 futures are at $31 and have received a few more points, and I will buy a case. I forgot to mention I bought two bottles, and the other is going in the cellar for a few years as I can see this will improve.

Chateau Frombrauge is under the Bernard Magrez umbrella, which produces the much-loved Pape-Clement. Now, thinking about it while writing this, Frombrauge does remind me a little bit of their grand vin.

#1 of 11 half bottles I won at auction. Let stand upright 3 days after delivery then tasted without decant. The cork came out in 2 pieces otherwise ok. There remains lot of bright fruit, so I think this could age yet 2-3 decades? There is alcohol on the back palate - not unpleasant but that hint a great port can give. Long finish with subtle classic raisin note. I like it, and 10 more to try over time.
