Retail $45. Big Ass Bottle. It is hard to believe that it has already been more than four years since Patty Green suddenly died; it seems just a little while ago that I was raising a glass of her wine in her honor. The last bottle of this wine, opened well over a year ago, was fantastic, and this bottle might be in an even better place. Fairly light in the glass with a classic Willamette Bing cherry characteristic, considerable spice, and some dark earth. Yowza. The palate is still quite fruity with loads of cherry, but also some of that earth. The tartness is on point and there is just a kiss of spice on the finish. Very nice.
Popped and poured. Medium garnet, a bit cloudy. Nose is showing off baked cherries and plum; iron and red rocks. Palate has lots of vibrant acid. Red-fruited, but also meaty, some pepper. This is very good. Plenty of life ahead.

Retail $45. I bought several bottles of this wine a *while* ago and I have no idea why I have waited so long to pop this first bottle. Not too long before buying this wine, I discovered that I had attended college with the winemaker, Jim Anderson. When I met up with him in 2010(?) we discovered that our paths never really crossed at school despite there only being ~400 people in our graduating class. It is also rather melancholic to drink this wine as Patty Green passed away a few years ago and she was universally loved and admired. Oh. The wine? Simply delightful. Slightly opaque in the glass with rich (and only slightly stewed) cherry fruit, earth, and clove. The palate is wonderfully balanced between fruit, acidity, and depth and the finish lasts for well over a minute. Bravo Jim and R.I.P. Patty. thedrunkencyclist.com

Decanted about 2 hours. Medium color with a clear rim and a touch of bricking. With a little coaxing the nose shows sweet spiced red fruit with high toned herbal notes. Gently sweet on entry, medium bodies and elegant, the flavors include fresh red cherries, berry pie and a touch of iron. Nicely balanced, fresh, excellent structure, this is a real classic example of PGC and the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Very fine. Drink now through 2024.

This wine is just young and unyielding right now. The aromas are pleasant and attractive - light red berries with herbal and earth tones. The palate however is clamped down shut -- lighter, elegantly styled fruit to start but then a bite/bitterness from the wines structural elements that just need more time to integrate. Hold.

Very nice wine. Drank last night and no notes, but this was a classic Oregon PN with cranberry, dark berry/cherry, earth and spice flavors, a slightly lean texture, nice balance and good grip. Not a hint of the bitterness reported by some other tasters. Great food wine and still with plenty of verve.

Great upfront nose and spice but a sour/bitter aftertaste on the back end. Just an unpleasant continous after taste. Disappointing and hopeful that I just had a off bottle. Have one left so I guess we shall see.

Strong and typical Oregon/RR on the nose and at first taste. On opening, the wine was a touch hot, but mellowed after several minutes. Cherries and stone fruits laden with volcanic soil minerality at first. Unfortunately, after 10-15 seconds, a powerful bitterness overwhelms the palate - thought I was sucking on a handful of pennies. I am saving the bottle for one more day to see if it improves - but I am withholding my optimism.

This had an immediate Ribbon Ridge nose and flavor. There is s lot of earth mixed with the red and dark fruit in this wine. Our bottle had been opened for about an hour but not decanted. There is s lot of fruit but it is balanced by the earth and a good spice.

PnP at dinner party. No detailed notes. Once again, this is another really interesting, complex wine from Patricia Green that I just don't like to drink. Really interesting mix of fruit and spice in the front, but the mid-palate and aftertaste -- I won't dignify it by calling it "finish" -- really turned me and the host off. We left it at the bar and went on to more pleasurable wines. (Anybody want to buy the other 20+ bottles of her wine that I have in my cellar?)

Loved this. Soaring nose with spice, pepper and mineral mixed with dark fruit. Equally nice on the palate with expansive dark fruit flavors and a nice dose of acidity. Great finish. Drinking well now with no signs of decline so should be fine for at least 3-5 years (maybe longer).

Mixed Wines at the Wedge and Wheel (Wedge & Wheel, Stillwater, MN): Medium red color. Slow-O for 80 minutes. Drank 1 glass over 45 minutes. Great nose; full of wonderful earthiness, floral, strawberry, cherry, and spice. The palate is medium bodied, lively acid, strawberry, some cherry, very spicy/peppery on the finish. The spic on the finish detracted a bit from an overall excellent wine with a stellar nose. I would lean towards drinking these up myself.

Boldly delicious where few Pinot can or have gone before. A joy to consume. Best of old and new world styles. All the cherry, nutmeg, cinnamon greatness with Burgundian style of structure, tannin, and oak that impart traces of vanilla, tobacco. Beam me up.

Medium red color. Drank 2 plus glasses over 3 hours. This was a splendid bottle, even better than the last couple. The nose is has lovely strawberry, ripe berries, damp earth, spices. The palate feels weightless with amazing vibrancy, energetic, elegant, laser acidity, spices, lifted, strawberry, raspberry, touches of cranberry, minerals, spice. perfectly balanced with a long finish. This was quite hard to put down. 93+pts.

Monthly Tasting Group: Blind Pinots Worldwide (Cafe Lurcat, Mpls, MN): Medium red color. Drank 1 glass blind over 30 minutes. Lovely earth, ripe berries, spices, maybe a touch of cranberry. The palate is medium light in body, consistent with the nose, elegant, nice mouth feel. Medium finish. This has softened nicely since the last time I had it. Looking forward to future bottles.

I was able to indentify this double blind as Oregon and the btl I brought last night at a blind PN tasting of 11 different btls. Though, it was one of the last 4 btls so no major acomplishment on my part. I was pleased though that blind this still came accross as a Euro style PN of elegance and finesse. The nose was a lovely combinaton of spice and forest floor aromas. Solid value at $34.

Monthly Wine Group: Domestic Pinots and Chards From Some Top Producers (Levain, Mpls): Medium red color. Drank 1 glass over 45 minutes. Nose is a more intriguing than the Etzel Block, showing similar dark red fruits of black cherry and raspberry, more of the earthiness that I like in my pinots, more floral, spices. Pale ruby red color. Stunning nose dominated by red fruit and spice. Delivers a big burst of flavor in the mouth despite being at most mid-weight. Great texture. Great balance.
