I really enjoyed this wine. Even after some air time, an inky fruity wine that explodes in the mouth covering tongue, teeth, buccal mucosa, uvula,... you get the idea. Probably the biggest mouthful of fruit I've had in years but in a pleasant way. Highly recommend as a new world wine.

Spicy blackberry. Great, full body but not overly complex, even by PS standards. The alcohol shows, but doesn't cripple it. A "sip it all night long" bottle.

Delicious. As the bottle says, inky and glass staining. However, time has been kind and this is drinking well. Certainly bold, but integrated and minus any tannins. Nice finish.

Dark red and blue fruits, pepper, great intensity, cooking spices and great balance despite the crazy high alcohol. This was corvined out of Magnum, great stuff.

Perhaps Wine Spectator needs a lesson regarding Petite Sirah. You don't review a Petite Sirah only two years after it departs the vine. Maybe five years just to get an idea of what it may become. Ten years before you seriously consume a bottle. And then these "experts" from Wine Spectator advise their readers to consume by 2019. How about maybe 2039? C'mon Man! Now for my humble review: Dark, rich and intense with solid tannins on the back end. Still a baby. 93+ at this stage.

Drank my last one of these last night. We had 4 Palisades vineyard PS's and this was my favorite. That said I believe that this wine will continue to improve with additional time in the cellar. This was a big wine with dark fruit, earth and tar. I am starting to become a real PS fan even though IMHO they need at least 10 years in the cellar to show their best.

Still a very youthful wine. Showed more complexity and nuance on day 2. Reminded me of brunello. Gorgeous mouth feel and subtle dark fruits. I would revisit in a few years, it will be even more interesting.

Very dark and dense. Very youthful with some alcoholic heat. Day 2 drinking better in terms of balance and complexity. Keep for another 5+ yrs and I think this will be in a much better spot.

Previous notes apply. In a perfect drinking window right now. Decanted for an hour and it was singing. Wonderful interplay of black, blue, and purple berry fruits, tar, camphor, black slate, and black licorice.
I hovered around 96 points; my other half scored it at 97-98 points, and she generally doesn't dig on PSs very often. One of the best Carlisle PSs I've had in a while. Drink now and over the next few years. Still has some nice push and "oomph" to it, but had a near-perfect balance without being flat or without personality. Flavors jumped from the glass.
Paired remarkably well with a baked three cheese, whole wheat penne pasta with jalapeño sausages and roasted tomatoes.

This has come along nicely over the 20 months since the previous bottle. Still primal and young. Deep, almost opaque red-purple. Meaty, mineral aromatic. Needs a little air to get going but then rewards with rich blueberry fruit and some high toned savory notes. Tannins are there but unobtrusive. Drink now or hold for 20 years.
Inky purple and black fruits, with notes of blackberry, blueberry, tar, smoke, and wet slate. Accessible right now, with a friendly tannic spine that creates nice structure for the dark fruit. It did not need a decant in my opinion, and is sure to please as a PnP.
A very good example of a Mike Officer PS, with added layers when compared to the 2007, 2008, and 2010 Palisades PS.
For me, the 2009 is in a great drinking window right now, as I prefer PS to still have some of that rich power and depth. The 2007, for example, has softened and rounded-out to the point where it is lacking some interest for me. The 2009 is nice now, but I would still watch it closely in the coming years, as the backbones of some of the older Carlisle PSs are starting to soften to the point of potentially coming off as muddled.

So few notes here and I have just the one bottle from 2011, but I pulled the cork out of curiosity to see where this was on the aging curve. Pulled the cork, right to the glass, no aeration, no decanting, nothing extra. With PS, I often worry about the booze level, as too much of it and I can't much function but in this wine, there isn't any coming through the aromatic. In the palate, the ripeness level is surely here, with a big dollop of dark berry, chocolate and touch of iron. Inky too, as it stains the glass. In terms of structure, there is some here and my hope is that over the next few hours that it does tighten up. Right now, there is a glimpse of it here, almost like a grape skin tannin that adds a cool coarseness to the texture. Finishes with tar and the same iron from the palate. At dinner later in the evening, this developed some nice tension and showed some great youthful tannin, which was impressive because the wine was at room temp (low 70s). I'd say this will continue to age just fine.

Huge, delicious, chewy blueberry/blackberry fruit with earthy flavors, excellent structure, long finish, tannins have softened, much prefer this non-port-like style compared to Turley Petite Syrahs

Deep red-purple color, almost magenta. Dark fruits and notes of anise, camphor, mocha? Mild but rustic tannins. Just a bit austere on the finish. Not a super big wine. Drinking well with some air but still very youthful and fresh. Should hold together for quite some time.

Licorice and Dark Fruit on the nose, great balance with terrific freshness! This is a bit better than last time and it should get better with a few years, but very drinkable now with a couple hours decant.

Delicious boysenberry fruit bomb with dark maple, chocolate fudge, and black currant, with bits of bay leaf, parsley and anise adding lift. Long finish. Spectacular wine, thick but plenty juicy. Decanted through an aerator and tasted over 2 hours. Right now the tannins are overwhelmed by waves of fruit. The acidity will not last forever so the winery drinking window looks about right (through 2025) but this will be hard to wait on given how sexy this brash youngster is now. Update: on day 2 the tannins cinched up somewhat and it was relatively off - kilter (keep in mind it got a ton of decant time before spending 20 hours under cork).

A bit big right now, but has all the stuffing and should get a lot better, I should have held off but the rest of the '09's have been so ready and good right now. Hold for 3-4 years min. and drink over the next 10.
