Aromas dominated by spices and exclusive and fine grained oak. After a while more caramel and vanilla. Soft, elegant and delicious on the palate. When the oak is so pronounced after 13 years I suspect it will never be integrated.

Intoxicating sexy nose of incense, tea, leather and slight animal. Ripe red fruits on the palette, a little bit of orange oil and some green stems after 2 hours. Tannins are well integrated and this is drinking nicely now

Bright ruby. Very Chambolle in character, with sappy berry and bright florals on the nose. Red fruit and earth on the palate, drying tannins, nice acidity, great minerality. Finishes long but with evident oak. The 2009 Les Clos de L'Orme—a lieu dit near Charmes—is perfumed and aromatic but still shows more oak than I like.

nose - sexy, plum, blueberry mouth - lush, plummy, reminds me of a bold tea, yields instantaneous pleasure due to the cathiard fruit forwardneess. and needs no food to boot.

The best mineral bouquet of the tasting but a little ham fisted on the eager, dark-fruited palate. Though this does really deliver on ultimately ripe ruit. Dusty tannins.

#5 of my tasting pack is from one of my favorite producers in entire Burgundy-Sylvain Cathiard. Light ruby in color, delightful abundance of red fruit on the nose with licorice, milk chocolate and after some aeration earthy note-very typical of SC. However palate is not quite consistent with nose on this one. On the palate it is lighter body than the Echezeaux from Fourrier, so is its depth. Fruits are fading suggests it's already at peak. Further aging will not benefit this wine much. Though it's probably the most affordable from SC, I'm still hoping for something better than this

very supple plum fruit - clean with no rough edges, decent acidity & structure, and overall a tad boring. Made a fruit forward style & recognizable to me after some practice as Cathiard.

Similar to last year. Opened up quickly. Gorgeous fruit with some spice and gentle oak. Rich but very silky. Could have been higher score if I had time to study it.

Directly after opening charming red fruit with oaky tones. Taste concentrated, red fruit and again oak, too much to my liking. Nose gets better in time, spices take over, taste gets better but the oak stays in the background. A good drink but it could be better! The underlying materiaal is very good, so in time the oak will be absorbed I think and this will be a great bottle.

This was open for business and held up well compared to angerville 1er crus. Gorgeous fruit with light delicate oak. Delicious to drink now but will gain complexity.

Bra rättfram på näsan med mycket frukt och blommor. Fruktigt vin som är öppet och tillgängligt. Dricker väldigt bra nu. För källarlagring är nog 08 och 10 bättre val men inget dåligt vin.

Good nose. Floral and forward. Perfumed with strong violets, nice. Notes of dark cherry, black berry with toasty oak at the end. Sweet, smooth, and silky on entry, almost creamy! Medium bodied with good viscosity. Good acidity level. Label indicated 13% alcohol with no heat. Fruity with very good balance overall. Approachable now but will continue to improve for a while. Nice juice. Still shows wonderfully on the 2nd day with intense aroma and good balance. The last time I was so impressed with a young and good value Burgundy was when I tasted young Rousseau Ruchottes Chambertin 1993 in 1996. Now I can understand why Neal Martin awards 94 pts to the 2005 vintage. For the price, this is a great bargain! 92-94 pts.

Knightsbridge 2009 Burgundy Tasting Highlights (Northbrook, IL): Wine tasting. My first time tasting this since a Domaine visit in late 2010. Classically Chambolle with lots of red fruit and great minerality and textures. Somewhat simple start picks up concentration and finesse through the middle towards the exciting, energetic and nuanced long finish. This will keep getting better for many years going forward.

Domaine Cathiard Cellar Visit and Tasting (Vosne-Romanee): Tasting at Domaine. From a single lieu-dit near the Charmes 1er. Racked 1 month earlier. Floral and perfumed to start, with lovely red fruit. Starts with finesse and delicacy but a long finish shows some more power and reemergence of spice. Very good for its level.
