I was expecting a more advanced wine. This bottle was right in its drinking window. Vosne spice on top of deep layers of dark fruits. Not particularly complex but really top notch for its level (hence the generous score)

Drinking really pleasantly now, smokey nose, a bit of cherries. Harmonious, round mouth feel and still enough acidity to fire things up. Very nice Village level effort from G.F&S

Drank over 3 (!) days. At first, a strange smell of green wood came out. First taste was unpleasantly bitter , green. Second day the green luckily made place for a more structured Pinot noir nose and its taste seriously improved. On day 3 a wine emerged with perfect length and ripe fruits . I believe this wine will age well.

Very expressive vosne spice on the nose, very mute on the mouth. Drank over 1.5 hours, opened up a bit more toward the end. Hopefully just a sleepy phase. Has anyone else opened one of these in the past few months?

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): See through rose core with pale pink rim; deep spice, some oak but integrated, sour cherry, high toned but showing a nice density of something more than villages level, slight tart blueberry; palate is sharp with spiced cherry, cranberry, not the best mid-palate density but this is delicious, sour fruit finish.

This is a really beautiful bottle of wine. Decanted at Gramercy Tavern in NYC for about 1.5 hours. Nose was soft floral violet and roses and it opened into the palate with a lovely rhubarb, strawberry, vanilla, soft baked cherry. had wonderful hidden secondary elements of mushroom, cedar, white truffle. So well integrated: Alcohol subtle, good bright acid and very clear fruit. Delicate and nuanced. paired beautiful with mushroom and calamari salad and a red broth seafood chowder. Would not over decant this. Ready to go now.

Nice baking spice, violet, earl grey and cherry intensity on the nose. The mouth is already so accessible, with bright balancing acidity and fine grainey tannin for the ripe cherry fruit and perfumed mouth. This is not the most complex Vosne Romanee but it is no slouch either, what is there is extremely well done. The finish is long. My experience thus far with this producer is that the wines, though made in a riper style, do manage to hold the road. I look forward to drinking this wine as it develops some tertiary complexity.

Medium ruby color, tart cherries, earth and baking spices on the nose. Medium bodied with good depth and intensity, the palate echoes the cherry and bright red fruit, a touch of oak on the finish but not at all intrusive. Nice acidity and overall a very well balanced wine.

Wow, nice '09! Wonderful earthy, elegant, deep dark fruit and a touch of forest/pine notes. Didn't get the tartness RJ did below, maybe it's fleshed out, esp with food.

Blind Tasting - 5-10 years aged Pinot Nor (St Johns, Auckland): M+ ruby, garnet hue, not very clear. Savoury notes dominating, earth, mushroom, meat, some spices. Not clean and precise, smooth tannins, solid acidity, medium length.
I put this burgundy in blind tasting as a benchmark, however, it’s in a bit listless status.
Ap 5/5, Ar 11/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 3+3/10
Total 89/100

Recent notes capture it well. This is bloody good. Only concern is how long this will last. Prolly should be drunk over the next 2-3 years

Showing a little more oaky/flamboyant this time, but still a juicy inky '09 red.
