With Vietnamese grilled pork chops, served in Zalto Universal stems. This was a stunner right from the moment it was opened. Electric and alive, vibrating and vibrant with a pinpoint precision and lingering finish. Right in the kabinett zone as far as balance of acidity and fruit and sweetness for me. Though there was complexity here, I thought it was more of a great guitar solo than the band playing. When thrown against the smoke and fat of the grilled pork, though, all the harmonics came out. Glorious bottle of wine, with personality and a high pleasure factor.

Really good place. Definitely in Andreas's style. Flashy/still a bit fleshy/ great mixture of slate and candied pink grapefruit peels. Great acid. Really enjoying it tonight.
With take out Vietnamese. Haven't had one of these since 2017 and honestly don't see all that much change since then. Maybe a little darker color and a few more mature notes coming out. Still quite compact, though with very nice flavor and aromatics. A darker flavor profile than some others from Adam. Good finish. It's stylish. I didn't pay as much attention as I probably should have - the food was very late and I was starving. It deserved better than the pounding I gave it.

My wife's comment - tastes like apple juice. Consistent with prior bottles, this was over evolved. No acid presence and heavier on the palate. I like Adam's wine, this was just a bad batch. Dark golden color, sweetness was it's only defining characteristic. Had wanted to drink through them since anticipated the issue from prior, so paired with a Chinese orange chicken dish, since fried stuff is more forgiving with a sweeter wine like this.

Cork was a disaster on this one, moldy under the capsule (leaker?) and disintegrated on the screw. Surgery was performed and it did finally emerge without many pieces of shrapnel in the juice. Again this wine was overly evolved. Darker golden color, heavy in the glass. Disappointing as I like Adam for the more assertive cut to the wines. Golden raisin, apricot, heavier glycerine. Served against a strawberry and honeyed goat cheese salad with balsamic, and that did ok, the sweetness of the wine was not out of place. Harder to hurt Riesling, but this seemed impaired. Poor storage prior to purchase?

This has been a wow in the past but this bottle didn't have the kabinett "zip" I was hoping for. Purchased on sale at retail recently so maybe storage impacted it? Deeper golden color than expected for the age. Heavier/sweeter given absence of acidity punch. Golden apple, pleasant flavor profile. Dense, could last for some time.

Have not had this for some time, and it had developed quite nicely in the cellar. The sweet stone fruit on the nose had mellowed a bit, starting to show little drifts of subtle white flowers, citrus and mineral. The palate still had some of the youthful richness of vintage, with sweet citrus and dried apricot notes drizzled with a bit of honey. Very powerful for a kabinett, but balanced by a deep river of citrusy acidity. Needs plenty of time yet, but this has always been pretty good.

Excellent tension and cut on this bottle, without sacrificing a bit of richness. I was very impressed by the all around strengths here, there was nothing missing, all of a piece. Truly delicious and could have take the scrutiny of some discussion, but really we just slurped it up and loved every sip. Another bottle that had leaked a bit a week or so ago was also good. This was much better. So glad to have a few more. I think this is at a terrific place and will hold here for quite a while.

This remains consistently good. Paired with a Teochew meal in Chao Shan cuisine, it was really in it element too. On the nose, white flowers, lime and stone fruit danced out in a pleasantly sweet bouquet. The palate had a muscular depth and strength that was unusual for a Kabinett, along with a ripe sweetness in its honey, red apple stone fruit flavours that were almost more Spatlese. These were nicely punctuated by gobs of juicy, lemony acidity though, which gave the wine a nice sense of energy and balance and made it a great pairing for the food. A touch of minerality popped up right at the very finish. No harm drinking now, but this was still rather primary after a few years in the bottle. It is certainly shaping up nicely though, if not quite in classic Kabinett tones. A good wine.

Another excellent example of a high quality Kabinett offering from Andreas Adam. Again, this is not your typical Mosel Kab...wonderful richness and viscosity, that is still able to maintain a trocken profile.

A fantastic showing, with more clarity, freshness and overall cut than I recall this having on release. The fruit's quite ripe and intense with bright citrus, red apple and some tropical guava/melon flavours suggesting the ripeness here is well beyond "Kabinett" levels, but there's also no shortage of acidity beneath, and it comes across incredibly racy and light on its feet.
Yes, this is big for a Kabinett, but what a lovely wine it is! Off-dry (Jean thought it was more sweet than that) with a nose of peach, citrus and petrol, it has the expected acidity for the vintage and finishes dry, if not a bit tart.

Ripe and sweet for kabinett, a lot of tropical fruit and aromatic complexity but not the acidity I was expecting from the vintage. It's good for the price and probably improves quite a bit with some age.

Very light straw yellow. Light and airy nose, with a subtle sweetness as if smelling powdered sugar. Mineral, with a note of fruit between apple and citrus. As it develops and also on day two, there is also a subtle smokiness and sweet spices (Lebkuchen). On the palate it is weightless, barely sweet, perfectly balanced. The acidity is between mandarine and lemon. Later it develops more towards pear/apple. Lovely. ***

Rich Riesling character with some complexity. However, its natural sweetness was overwhelmed by a strong sour fruit taste evident on opening and which did not improve after two days in the fridge. Judging from other comments, this is just a bad bottle, although it had been well stored since purchase and did not show any oxidation. I have drunk hundreds of Mosels over the years, so it's not that I don't know what to expect. Approach with caution.
I was still recovering from a recent cold, so I don't think I got the full experience here, but the scents of fresh peaches along with subtle floral tones were great. On the palate, both the acidity and sugar seemed to be up a notch from the 2009 rendition of this wine, but not at the expense of balance, food-friendliness, and deliciousness, all of which this wine has in spades.

Drinking more like a Spatlese than a true Kabinett, but for what it is, it's a really lovely wine with lots of extract, great acids, and bright minerality. Drinking well right now, but will obviously age a long while.

Like the '09, this keeps getting better with time in bottle. Still showing the same bright fruit and florality, but now it's showing even more mineral depth and salinity beneath.

Lovely, limey, appley, rich, rather sweet but plenty of balancing acid. Really a bit young and one-dimensional at the moment: this has the stuffing to evolve with more honeyed and minerally overtones. Tasty and delicious now though. (89-90, but maybe 91 with time)

This was rather muddled when I last tasted it right on release, but a few recent bottles this summer have shown very well. Ripe and powerful, more a big Spätlese than Kabinett but lovely to drink with fresh citrus and stone fruit flavours tinged with slate and florality and a bright acid spine.

Beautiful nose of crystaline stone fruits, apricot, petrol; very fresh, clean, wet rocks-slate; excellent concentration, acidity in check, medium plus finish. Very good kabinett. Would love to try the spatlese.

Dinner and MMA at Dr. Culang's: Very nice ripeness for a Kabinett. More weight than the Clemens Busch, but in need of more acid to balance the residual sugar. That shouldn't have been a problem in 2010. Was this de-acidified? Still, the flavors are mouthwatering and this is good for its level. Tough matchup against tonight's competition.

Lunch at Dezato (Dezato, Jalan Telok): Too young, but really quite good nonetheless. Popped and poured and served a bit too warm at first, this only really hit its stride after about half an hour of air and chilled down to a nice temperature. With the requisite time and air, it had a really nice Mosel nose, with white fruit notes of pear, melon and apple flesh, with a twist of lemony aromas and lots of flinty mineral bringing up the rear. There was a bit of sulphur in there on first pour which took some time to blow off, so I would really recommend either opening this a couple of hours early or giving it a short decant before serving if you are thinking of drinking this anytime soon. On to the palate. Here, it was clearly rich and supple for a Kabinett, with almost Spatlese-like texture and depth to its bright flavours of lemons and lime, green apples and pears, all spiked with brilliant freshness and focus. This was the quinntessential 2010, great dry extract, high sugars, superb acidity - all adding to give the wine a nice sense of clarity in spite of its weight. Nice finish too, with a tail of lime and mineral notes stretching away into the distance. Quite excellent stuff, if just a bit too raw and primary at the moment. I would perhaps give it a year or two before drinking in earnest. In spite of that though, this was a beautiful wine to have with Japanese seafood even now.

The nose was reticent, yet with coaxing and swirling, revealed lime with slate stone, minerals, almond skins and a hint of mold. On the palate it was soft with tongue curling acidity and flavors of sweet lemon, apple and saline minerals. The finish was remarkably refreshing with citrus notes lingering on the palate. While nowhere near as interesting as the '09, this wine is truly a pleasure to drink and may reveal more over time. However, with how tasty this is now, I wonder who will have the patience to find out.

Dinner with Monthly Group at Alkaff Mansion (Alkaff Mansion): This was really good - better even than the last bottle we had I thought. There was a bit of sulphur on the nose even after the bottle was opened for half an hour and the wine sat in the glass for several minutes more. However, there was clearly a nice bouquet beneath that, with lemons and limes matched by ripe peach notes, a nice line of mineral and some pretty floral accents. Very nice. The palate was really yummy as well. Rather sweeter and more powerful than one would expect from a Kabinett, it neverthless had beautiful freshness to its bright flavours of fleshy lemons and grapefruit lined with more mineral and floral nuances. What really made the wine stand-out for me was a wonderful, lively energy and a beautiful sense of definition and focus that underscored the whole package. While the last bottle was all intellectual interest, this was wed to a burgeoning deliciousness on this one. Beautiful stuff, and apt to improve in the next few years as well.

Again, purchased based on Matt N's review. Potent nose of lime, lemon, slate, white flowers, brown spices and green apple. Palate is rich and sweet but with excellent acidity to balance: lime, slate, honey, sweet apple. The spices really come out here: succulent nutmeg and sassafrass. This is really something on the palate - spicy, mouthfilling, and quite intense. Flavors continue into a solid but not spectacular finish. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 16/20.

Lots of sulfur on Day 1. Consumed on Day 3. Tropical citrus, orange blossom honey, apple, and hibiscus. Great acid. Spritzy, tart, mineral palate. Drank this alongside the 2009 - was more citrusy and floral and lighter on its feet. Great for drinking on its own.

Mmmm... day 3 this has the perfect sweet tart balance that simply knocks my socks off. Seriously. This embodies so many elements of what I seek in this style. The finish alone. Bit bigger than the 2009 yet still beautifully balanced.
And given the price point I just want to shut-up for fear that next year's supply may be harder to obtain.

2010 Rieslings blind, mostly German kabinett 12/7/2011 (Chez JC/DK, TriBeCa): Tasted double blind. Very pale straw, limned with green. Nose fresh, bare edge of sulphur, peach pit. Palate intense, v v peachy. Intense long finish. Evokes a very specific memory: '04 Monchhof Mosel Slate, a strong compliment as that was a splendid, TANGY wine (I think it was Erdener Treppchen spat fruit), but this one is more intense. This is a kabinett with the fruit density of a spatlese, at least. Terrific length, v v long grapefruit tang. A/A+

This has settled down. It is racy, taught, sweet, with aromas of lime powder, a puff of petrol, and vine aromas. It enters crystalline, with floral traits, sweet and sharp and a rock solid mineral backbone. On the second day it is nearly scrumptious with a feinherb or even trocken bis feinherb perception. I am loving 2010 Kabinetten.

Dinner with the Monthly Group at Asia Grand (Asia Grand, Odeon Towers): Pretty impressive, if still a bit awkward in its extreme youth. There was a quite bit of sulphur on the nose even though it had been opened for more than two hours before serving. Still though, one could clearly detect classic Mosel nuances of earth and mineral, sweet white fruit, nectarine and a little whiff of rubbery reduction in the background. The nose clearly needs a lot more time in the bottle before it comes out to play I think. Thankfully, the palate was rather better. There was a lot of richness here for a 2010 Kabinett. If blind, I might well guessed 2009, what with its rich, rather sweet notes of honey and nectar, ripe pears and green apples. I might even have found it a bit over-rich for a Kabinett if not for the fact that the soft, fleshy fruit was pulled back ever so nicely by the lovely depth and melting balance of the wine, so that there was always a sense of clarity and direction in the midst of its weight. Towards the finish, a little burst of citrussy, limey freshness and a long, mineral and white flower tail lifted the wine very nicely as it pulled away in an impressively long back-note. All in all, pleasant, but more in an intellectual rather than visceral fashion at the moment. Not quite sure that is a good thing with a Mosel Kabinett from what is supposedly a rather classic vintage. Nevertheless, there is quality here, and I am sure the wine will come around really well with the requisite time in the bottle. One to try again in 4-5 years.

Rather primary fruit on the nose with pear, green apple and citrus notes: lime peel, pomelo. MLF still clearly discernible and minerality very upfront bringing slatey and flinty notes. Some honeyed character as well. On the palate the wine is sweet, but rather neatly balanced by the razor sharp acidity. Waffle and MLF-notes complementing the primary fruit and citrus core. Some smoky minerality towards the long and balanced aftertaste. There was reductive character evident at first, but that did blow off in a couple of hours. I tasted the wine through the week and it certainly survived rather well. Altogether very nice stuff, but needs at least some years to properly settle down.

Theise/Skurnik DI tasting. Really disappointing. Incredibly ripe, a bit soft and heavy and the fruit doesn't seem as clean/pure as its been in previous vintages. Hopefully this is just an off showing, as it's certainly not on the level of his past vintages.

My first 2010. The Adam is once again great. I would call 2010 cleaner and a little more polished than the 2009. It might be young still, but I miss the layers and the flowers of the previous vintage. What this wine does have, and it has it in spades, is gushing, polished, clean fruit that is perfectly ripe, bright acidity, crisp full finish that is a little drier feeling that 2009 as well. It is just delicious and hard to put down.

I agree that this drinks more like a Spats than a Kab. Nice wieght to the sweetness without being cloying in any way. Enjoyed.

Bit bigger than the 2009 yet still beautifully balanced.
And given the price point I just want to shut-up for fear that next year's supply may be harder to obtain.
