Had with a bone in rib eye. Still good fruit showing through. The tannins are well integrated resulting in a smooth wine. I don’t think the wine will benefit from further aging .

Decanted for 1 hour prior to drinking. Initial notes of dark fruit (black currents) and blueberries with just a hint of cocoa powder. Nice on the mid-palate with some acidic notes. Although the tannin had resolved, they were still there is abundance with a slight note of bitterness on the finish. During dinner, it was paired with Ribeye steak and Fingerling potatoes. By the 4th hour, this was becoming somewhat astringent.
Drink now.

Popped and poured through a powered aerator and consumed over several hours, including while watching fireworks. Deep eggplant purple. Has a nose with that initial blast of blueberry that I've come to enjoy with Buccella cabs. Overall nose and taste of blueberries, dark plum, cedar and with hints of vanilla. Smooth. Well integrated tannins. Still some pretty high acidity. Excellent wine but a little less powerful and flavorful than other vintages I've tasted.

Beautiful nose with combination of red and dark fruit. Color is a mix of ruby and garnet. No bricking. Palate focuses mostly on dark fruit, cassis. The tannins are soft and resolved with only mild acidity suggesting that now is the time.

Clear, deep purple color. Clean nose of pronounced intensity of black cherry, prunes, eucalyptus, wet stone, toast, chocolate, leather. Wine is developing. On the palate it is dry with medium plus acidity, high, silky tannins, high alcohol, full body and pronounced flavor intensity of prunes, vanilla, leather, cedar. The finish is long and satisfying. Outstanding wine. Drink now or age further

outstanding, cassis, spice, bright fruit. I preferred an 08 plumpjack cab, but Brad and Lea preferred the buccella. I would guess drinking at it's peak.

Classic Buccella Cab with its concentrated, fruit forward and layered/full style of wine. Strong notes of cassis, licorice and spice even after two hours of decanting. While this is an excellent wine, it isn't quite up to the very high standards of Buccella and expect the 09's to get better with some more age.

This has a lovely balance of dark fruit and spice. In structure this is a heavy weight cab with bold cassis and touch of licorice up front, then fading to a long finish. Should continue to get better in the cellar.

The reviews on this 09 started out slow, so I have resisted the temptation to open until I saw them improving. This got better as it opened. And as is many times the case, the last sip was the best. I think this will continue to improve with more time laying down. Still not up my typical Buccella expectations - but the potential is here.

Typical Buccella deep, dark, dense, "stand a knife in it" color with a beautiful sweet, dark fruit nose. Powerful fruit forward with velvet tannins suporting well integrated heat and acidity. plums, dark plums and cherries, oak, mocha, spice. Nice finish.

A big, bold an fruit forward wine. Decanted for 90 minutes before consuming over dinner at Ellerbe's in Fort Worth. Beef, lamb and venison were the main courses ordered. It was a very enjoyable drink with dark fruits and integrated tannins. That said, the wine continued to evolve throughout the evening. It is very young and while enjoyable will probably do well with another 3-5 years + in the bottle.

Brawny wine but full of sweet ripe fruit and some cocoa and beef. The fruit wins the bttle in the end. The nose did not give up much. Gritty tannins as this is still too young. Good with steak however.

So disappointed. Had an earlier vintage (2006?) last year, and it was fantastic. Bought a few bottles of the 2009 assuming it would be equally good. It wasn't.
No depth. No finish. Bitter aftertaste. This is the opposite of a big, lush Cabernet. Completely flat, even after a few hours in the decanter. Can't say I'm looking forward to the next few bottles. Terrible value.

At Del Campo with J/G/J. Nice and good pairing with chunks of steak. But not with wow factor of past 2 years. Dark and rich, but missing the second level of flavors that separated Buccella in years past.

A deep, toasty nose, focused on currant and black cherries, mocha, caramel and cedar. Bold and full on the palate, as grippy tannins meet with medium acid. The black cherry and plum fruit tastes pure and rich, but not overdone. The secondary flavors remind me of black olive, loam and pepper, and they work very well in this context. Quite toasty (lots of cedar) but it has plenty of other elements to balance it out. The finish is really long, with chewing tobacco, pencil shavings and mineral notes. This wine opens up nicely, but there’s so much in here to unpack over the years. Tasted blind, my first impression was: “OK, this is legit stuff.” 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc aged 22 months in 80% new French oak.

Unfortunately, both myself and Brad were a bit let down by this bottling - Parker was right on in this case. The wine was pretty one dimensional. The nose was fairly muted but did show some elegant styling. There was hidden raspberries, elegant spice and cedar. The palate was again, the same straight forward fruit and spice but with an underlying elegance that wanted to come out. Maybe we just opened this way way too young. We gave it a couple hours to breathe, but still, it just didn't come to the game ready to rock. Maybe try again in a few years.

Nice density in the color. Big, rich, and intense aromatics with a blackberry liqueur with an undertone of cocoa. I picked up a little bit of a floral component that is very inviting. On the palate, nice weight and texture , especially the mid-palate showing blueberries and dark chocolate with a minerality. The acid and fruit are pretty balanced but I think this wine greatly benefit from some time in a cellar.

Nose faded over the course of an hour, but was red fruit fresh.
Clear this had reached its peak. Tannins are fading, but still there.
Nice jammy red fruits, but lacking complexity. Enjoyable but would not choose this vintage now.
