Dry, firm, vertical, accent on minerals, more lush fruit showing with air. Plenty of spice. You feel the air of a VT. Drinking a point, I think, yet no hurry. #cellarinventory

What a lovely wine. Too bad they don't make it anymore. The Bruniers own Vieux Telegraphe, and apparently for the 2011 vintage they reallocated the grapes used for La Roquète CdP into different wines. This was decanted for about 30 mins and served with some hard cheeses. This wine is from an excellent vintage so there's still fruit here in abundance, but it's not at all syrupy, and any oak influence is very mellow as it was aged in foudre. Lots of earthiness, spice, and blackberry on the palate, with a hint of pepper, and a lengthy finish. It's drinkable now, with a decant, but this could go a few more years with no problem.

PNP. Deep ruby garnet color, with modest rim fade. Carmelized carrots, strawberry, raspberry, and subtle peaches and cream. Smooth, dry palate. Firm, full, low intensity tannins on the medium long finish. 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre
Air may have helped. Not sure how this was stored (had it at friends house) in it’s early years. No obvious “flaw”, but the the nose was not what I expected.

Rieslings and Grenaches of North London (Crouch End Cellars): Much more serious than the 2011 Redon, darker and needing more time. Some violets to accent the darkish fruit. Decent acidity, though a discernible warmness on the finish, leaving a final impression that this wine is slightly hard going.

Eating a Morroccan cous cous dish, needed something S. Rhone-ish, and this was the only thing at hand. Slight overkill, but a nice step up on a Tuesday. This still has some overt oak tannins, but it came together better. Wife really liked it, and as the night went on, I enjoyed it as a very good example of moderately priced CdP. Which, honestly, is what I want more than some $100 prestige bottling. Lots of herbs, including some rosemary, some meaty notes from mourvedre, I am guessing, a little heat but in a positive way. Long finish. Improving, and I like better than the V. Telegraphe from the same producer.

Medium, slightly full garnet red. Muted nose of red fruits, especially cherries. Notes of Bing cherries, orange peel, and dark chocolate into the delicious finish. Quite delicious, and a good match with the crab and wild mushroom gnocchi at Tujagues in New Orleans.

Bought this so I could have a potentially earlier drinking 2010 CdP while I wait for the others to come around. 2010 is an "association" vintage, but this had good scores FWIW and I have enjoyed Domaine La Roquete in some past vintage, so when the price was right, I bit. The Bruniers own V. Telegraphe and the vines for this wine are in similarly privileged lieu-dits, but the wine was, to my taste, more modern and oaky than in the past. A bit like a heavy handed Cotes du Rhone and not a swirling glass of garrigue scented berries. It wasn't bad, but either the oak needs to integrate or I need to change my expectations. Good, but not excellent. The second bottle will sit for a couple years more, I guess.

Dark red; nice open fruity full-bodied nose, dark red berries, mulberry; powerful, very nice and rounded, but also somewhat alcoholic, tannic aftertaste; a very nice glass, although not completely integrated

PNP at New Orleans restaurant. Faint oak, mustiness, raspberry on the nose. Light to medium bodied, raspberry fruit, faint tannin and acid. Good way to start the meal. After about an hour the flavor profile mellows out and integrates, the acid recedes, and now there are cherry notes along with the raspberry.

Clear, medium ruby appearance. Clear nose. Plum, black pepper, liquorice. Very smooth, fine tannins. High acid. Enjoyable tasted blind but I didn't feel it justified the price when unveiled.

Complex and very well balanced. Short (1h) decanting brings out black currant and pepper. Might not be as good as 2007, but still one of the best 2010 that I tried, especially for the price.

closed down, just shipped, bottle shock? tasted the week before at a wine tasting dinner a little fruit forward but with fine tannins and acid to balance. Has the potential to be a great bottle.

Very nice CdP. Garrigue and fruit on the nose, licorice and some subtle black fruit on the palate. Medium bodied, soft on the mid palate with some tannin coming up at the end. A little bitterness complicates things. Overall, a tasty, not overdone CdP. Nicely done.

This one smells a bit bretty. Liquorice, carob, Mediterranean herbs, slightyl mushroomy, dusty, a little unfocused. Still a good wine.

State Line 2013 Annual 20% Tasting (State Line, Elkton MD): WOTN. Well-structured, lots of fruit held in a fist of tannin, will reward five years plus of patient cellaring.
