Next to 1986 and 2015 Palmer. Both the 94 and 86 carried a very nice and distinct iron note to the nose. Here the palate was a bit more savory and the fruit was pretty much gone, but still in a very nice spot for drinking.

Medium nose intensity with nose of red and black fruits, toast. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is integrated but short finish. Probably at the tail end of drinking cycle. Drink up.

On the downhill slope, the wine is medium-bodied, with a crisp, bright red fruit character. The secondary notes are overtaking the fruit, leaving with you more tobacco, cedar, wet earth and forest aromas than crisp red fruit. A bit strict and firm in nature, with a leafy, herbal edge, this is not going to improve with age.

Well stored bottle, solid cork, great fill. But past its prime I think. Not much fruit left, although I don't have a reference point for what it is supposed to be. If I had paid anywhere near retail for this I'd be pretty unhappy.

Just in a really great spot right now. Dare I say peak or just slightly on the downward slope? Tobacco, tar, sous bois, and dill frame a medium bodied wine with silky tannins and a decent streak of acidity. Very lovely, long finish. Drink up.

Ruby red colour, floral and plumy at nose, consistent on palate. Smooth and medium-to-light bodied. Good balance of tannin and acidity, with the wine evolved much quicker than I've expected and the finish is rather short for Palmer. Lacking the complexity to be a very good Palmer

A mixed bag : colour dark cherry red. Nose initially clumsy unfocussed but over 3 hours developed fine nose of dark cherry, plums, cedar and tobacco. Then violets and touches of dark chocolate. Palate followed the same line but ultimately a fine Margaux character with balance and some finesse. Just a little unfocussed on the back palate. Ultimately faded into that clumsy phase again. So overall some lovely characters in a wobbly package !

Tasted blind: difficult wine. Quite metallic and unbalanced in the nose and taste. All out of sync and not what one would expect from a Palmer. A clear indication about how the difficult 1994 Bordaux develop...Drink or even better sell it.

Occasional dinner group; TOP Bordeaux 1994: Beautiful bouquet with red and dark forest fruits, cedar, forest floor and tobacco. On the palate still some cassis, earth, some slightly green bell pepper impressions, good acidity and soft tannin. Overall a beautiful and refined wine with still a beautiful tension. Ready now and for several years to come.

Palmer Vertical Tasting (1982 - 2004) (Switzerland): Tasted blind: Earthy notes, hints of berries. Tannins are very present, so is the acidity. It shows green notes and is a bit unbalanced. Drink now until 2020 but I do not expect this wine to get any better.

Casual Wines Session on Thursday night (Extra Space, Boon Keng): Dark ruby, beautiful bouquet of flower, violet, blackcurrant and tobacco. Showing nice perfume and elegant nose. Strong and rich entry, it has plenty of secondary notes of tobacco, earth and dried prune. Bright and lean acidity with good structire and bodied. Long lingering finish with fine chewy tannins. Drinking nicely now but should age well for another 5 years or more.

Well, I had this bottle 5 years ago and I was disappointed at that time. I noticed “wait for another 5 years” and I must say it was worth to wait for. Colour of brick red, the wine has very well developed, it has become elegant and smooth. Not a monster of tannins or spectacular but rather swinging, the nose shows hints of cedar and herbs, some red fruit left makes the wine interesting. Perfect to drink now.

Opened an hour and decanted 15 minutes prior to drinking. Nose was complex but middle aged - Leather, some herbalness and just a hint of fruitiness of youth but hasn't yet developed the sweetness of old age. On the palate it had good weight but again it's in mid life - tannins are mainly resolved but it needs a little more time (3 years?) to fully integrate.

Needs a bit of decanting like 30mins. Open nose very herby, powerfull nose. Unfort thats where the wine ends. on the palate it feels diluted and lacks sparkle, vitality. You feel its quality but this bottle felt a lot less vibrant than the one we had 3 months ago. Drimk now. 90 at best

Popped and poured into 2 375s and slow O'd for 90 min. before tasting. Medium brick red, transparent at the rim. Faint aromas of cedar and pencil lead. Fruit tastes are subdued. More secondary characteristics with leather, earth, a hint of herbaceousness. Acids and tannins are in balance. A very smooth and harmonious wine. Rather elegant.

Galette de Rois (Chez Cassou, London): Decanted for 10 minutes as thsi was a late addition to the flight. Did not know what to expect from a 1994 but this is a very nice wine and 94 medoc keeps giving good surprises. Dark deep colour, vibrant alive. Very nice and open on the nose, deep nose of fruit and some herby notes. On the palate it feels well made, with character and elegance and although it lacks the complexity and depth of a good vintage this is a very enjoyable and would expect this to last some more years.Definitely underrated and it seems to have improved since 1997 when RP tried it ( no way its an 86). Nots sure its worth its money though but if you have some u will not be dissapointed. ( 92+ )

Decanted for about 90 minutes. Wonderfully balanced on the nose with silky toasted almonds and hints of a little leather / tobacco. A dark purple colour. slight nose of cherry and sweet flowers On the palate... lush, smooth and delicious...chocolate,tobacco and sweet berry. Mild tannins and a almost long finish. Judging by the cork ...very tight.. and no sediment..this still will age and maybe get better.

First of all, I don't like Palmer. 3rd Gorwth is 3rd Growth.
Secondly, young and good Palmer is very aggressive to me, delicious ? not my type.
I prefer Palmer from the weak vintage. When I had lunch the Chateau in 2006, I prefer 1987, 1988 than 1995. For this 1994, still a bit aggressive but better than last 3 years, This bottle shows very nice and seductive fruity nose...That's all.
Rough tannic, high tannin level, dry and delicious ?...nothing's special. Maybe it needs 5-8 years to be soften.
Drink....no comment

Here in Japan, we drink any older wine we can get our hands on as this entire country is so brand contious that they consume the best wines on release. The wine has a deep dark color, one of the deepest I have noticed as of late. Wine was a little tart/tanic on the open. After about 1.5 hours, petfume on the nose, velvet and subtle fruit for the finish. At first I wasn't thrilled but it seems to have gotten much better the longer it has been open. Strongly recommend decanting for at least an hour
