Crisp and clean but with great medium body throughout. Peaches and apricots with tons of minerality with just a bit of petrol right at then beginning. Always a great go to for a masala based dish and this was no different. Great now or for at least 5 more years.

Excellent!

Medium golden yellow in color. Aromatic preserved yellow citrus, lanolin, barely ripe pineapple, pine and wild herbs. Beautiful palate shows perfectly off-dry ripe citrus and peaches, good acidity and a very long herbal and honeyed finish. This is aging well.

On the nose, rubber, minerality like clear water running over pebbles, peach skin. The palette is a firework display. Juicy peach and apricot, cream, flowers, sparkly acidity, huge length, perfectly judged sweetness. Perfect for drinking in the park.

Opened three hours prior to drinking. Pale gold in the glass. Showing no signs of age whatsoever and a little shy aromatically with petroleum, rubber, lime zest, citrus blossom, and cold pebbles. The wine really comes alive on the palate, which is glossy, dense, and concentrated with a wonderful burst of sweetness and ripe stone fruits perfectly offset by a touch of bright acidity. Excellent.

Showing tremendous energy and complexity at this early age, with a petrol laden, floral nose and well balanced notes of melon, pear, cherry, cinnamon, tea and lime. I think this Auslese should really shine in another 5-10 years, adding that slate feature to take this to the next level.

Prior bottle was only three months ago so my overall notes were virtually identical. Opened at 47F, warming to 53F and while I liked it throughout all phases, it did show considerable temperature based differences. On the cooler side, the acidity was more prominent, provided excellent contrast to the fruit notes which were primarily white cherry, green apple and then the beginnings of peach. As it warmed, it gained density, but also complexity. There was still enough acidity to provide a solid backbone, but in this phase, the tropical notes of orange, mango and citrus were the dominate notes. The evolution between these two experiences was one of the things that I really enjoyed about this wine. It should continue to improve for several years, but if you have enough and you enjoy the acidity, it's certainly worth opening a bottle now.

Prior bottle was seven months ago and this wine continues to show extremely well. Peach, apple, citrus and mineral notes on the nose. Medium bodied and opened at 48F, warming to 55F and showed equally well throughout. Overall, my notes were very similar as far as flavor profile: white cherry, peach and apple upfront, deepening pleasantly through the middle with mixed orchard fruits that are resolving nicely (no longer quite as concealed by acidity), before adding hints of richer, tropical notes (orange, mango) and then citrus, other tart fruit notes and minerals on the finish. The mix of fruit and acidity was again the highpoint of this wine as the acidity provides an excellent backbone and allows the inherent fruit complexity to really shine. An impressive wine from an underrated vintage and one that should continue to improve for many years. I'll probably wait on my last bottle for one more year, but I enjoy the youthful acidity too much to let it sit for too long!

Popped and poured and enjoyed over three hours. The fruit is sweet and in the tropical and stone category. The weight is substantial in the the mouth. Still, the flavors are clean and there is enough mineral and acid to somehow make it all work. For me though, this borders on dessert wine.

Peach, apple and lime on the nose. Opened at 47F, warming to 52F, medium bodied, 8.5% ABV and showed excellent acidity. Nice acidity on the front which adds to the apple, pear and peach notes. Cherry and peach through the middle, along with a variety of background orchard fruit notes which right now are partially covered by the brightly balancing acidity. Orange, cherry, lemon and lime on the back end along with acidity and mineral notes. Sails into the finish with good tension and length. Showing quite well now despite its youth and has many years of improvement ahead of it.

This has really slimmed down since release, and now shows bright peach and cherry fruit with a kick of acidity on the back end that brightens up everything. It's still crazy young of course, but it has zero of the heaviness that plagues some 2011s. Lip-smacking good.

Consumed over two nights. Clear, light-golden color. Nose isn't very big, but some pleasant stone fruits and a hint of lime coming through. Full bodied, lots of sweet flavors, peach, pear, maybe some apple. For my palate, there isn't enough acidity to keep up with ripe/sweet fruits and push this up to a higher score. It is very nice/enjoyable, but I was hoping for quite a bit more complexity based on this producer's reputation. I will try to hold my other two bottles for a while and see what happens.

Strongly suggest to open it 24 hours in advance if drinking near term. The wine gained significant concentration and complexity since the initial pour. Certainly better down the road but it would be tough for me to stay away from my other bottle.

Sublime.

This Spatles is extremely well crafted as the color is glossy gold with nice transparency. The aromas of melon, pears, and peaches are nicely concentrated and wrapped in a stony/chalky frame. Entry is fresh while cutting with the adequate sweetness leading up to a body of ripe sweet tropical fruits and ending in a short yet delicious finish. 92+ if you age it for a while.

Golden colored Reisling that immediately presents on opening irresistible floral aromas interlaced with fragrant green apple, pear and melon. Velvety soft on the palate; the wine showcases a mouthwatering dalliance between the aforementioned fruit profiles tinged with hints of citrus that are solidly affixed on a base of slate minerality. High in acidity and scandalously succulent one can not escape the overwhelming sensation similar to biting into an overripe piece of fruit yet the wine manages to remain remarkably well balanced providing a gloriously long hypnotic finish. Delicious! I must confess that in the past I have often purchased these wines solely to satisfy my wife’s gluttonous desire for wines with high RS. This shall not be the case any longer. A wine of this youth exhibiting this level of complexity now is nothing short of astounding and portends well for the future, if one has the necessary patience.

Nose: The nose leads off with a real attractive flinty minerality along with fresh tones of green apples, pears, white peaches, and some lychees.
Taste: Medium bodied with real crisp medium/high acidity. There is a real deft touch to the tones of crushed rocks, minerals, lychees, pears, and white peaches.
Overall: This was great right off the bat. The mineral base to this is wonderful and there is a raciness to it. There is very good depth with the acidity having a great mouth watering quality.

Tasted after the Oberhauser Leistenberg Kabinett, this is clearly much riper, not that far away from some leaner auslesen. Almost tropical aromatics of pears, melons, peaches and honey come wide and open. The acidity level is very decent for the vintage, once again taking good care of the sweetness and making this a pleasant drink. Fantastic QPR for 19€.
