Cherry, ash, green pepper, and some muskiness on the nose. Heavy tannins and very dry. A little bit of overripe fruit. Decanted for an hour, decent amount of sediment. Tried again the next day and it was better.

This is past its time. Opened a bottle before the thanksgiving feast begins. It’s quite closed with little to no fruit. Will keep it open for a couple of hours and see if it changes, but for now, probably best for me to open the other half a case left ASAP. Wonder how the 2010’s are doing?!?

Faded/shut down a little bit after a few hours, but for a while, this seemed like it was right around its sweet spot. Tobacco, leather, dried cherries, a little bit of bay leaf, hints of oak. Leans a little modern--fuller bodied, lower acid, but it's very nicely balanced. Still plenty of structure, but based on this bottle, I'd say drink up.

The nose is quite prominent and wife immediately smelled it from kitchen and commented favorably. Color is ruby red, not quite as deep as I expected. Tannin didn’t overpower and had good depth and structure. Beautiful long trailing finish. Had it with a medium rare hangar steak. Will hold the rest of the bottles for another couple of years.

Bonne ampleur & l'acidité supporte suffisamment l'ensemble. Somme toute unidimensionnel, tannins encore présent, fin & nombreux. Bonne amertume en finale. Agréable mais peu complexe.

Red & black fruit on the nose with a funky note in the background for some added interest.
Seamless on the palate, decent persistence - maybe a little light on the acidity, but not a lot to complain about this wine today. I don't see any further upside, but I think this will be fine over the next 5-10 years.

Similar in color to the Salicutti; the nose is more a mixture of red & black fruit, and there is some funk here as well - pretty interesting nose.
For a Brunello less than 10 years old, pretty seamless right now. Not as acidic as the Salicutti (which for me is a minus), but otherwise no complaints.

Light translucent ruby in the glass; ripe/sweet red fruits on the nose, with a dash o' funk in the background.
Wow, for a young Brunello, this is pretty wide open on the palate. Decent acidity, ripe red fruits, good persistence on the finish. Given that this is not considered a "classic" vintage, have to admit I'm pretty impressed with this right now.
Popped and poured. Consistent with previous bottle. Rustic, meaty sangiovese. Alcohol has integrated but the nose was not as expressive as last time. Probably would have benefited from a bit of air. Strong QPR.

Tasting evening in our “wine club” (vertical 2009, 2008 and 2007)… Nice garnet color, medium body, cherries, plums, good acidity, not yet balanced and tannins are still bit too obtrusive, medium finish, definitely needs couple of more years (like 5) and has good potential and probably will get better rating

Initial aromas of brighter cherry, darker fruit and maybe some balsamic. Some cedar and oak notes. Hot on the palate feels like higher alcohol (15%?). Color is deep purple fading to ruby red with some orange at the edge. There is another aroma or taste lurking at the edge of perception. I taste a bit of chalk. Brighter cherry starts coming out after about 30 minutes open. A bit too much wood even after 45 minutes, so not our favorite. I might decant the next bottle just to get it through the early opening phase quickly. Started to smooth out after a couple of hours, but still a lot of wood.

Decanted for around 2 hours. Lighter in color than expected with more of a light garnet color with signs of bricking. Great nose of bloody meat, cedar cigar box, dark cherry, a bit of balsamic and toasted oak. On the palate some roasted plum and chocolate covered cherries with smoked meat and a slightly oaky finish. Medium acid and tannins with a dry finish. Alcohol may come across a touch high without food but overall this is classic sangiovese from Montalcino.

Nose: Sweet tabacco, Indian spices, red berries, oranges. Mouth: Consistent with the nose. It has some grip from the tannins but they are refined. A very good wine for sure but it doesn't change my world. The 2004 was far better in my memory. It will hold up well in the next couple of years.

Enjoyed this several times, varied accompaniments, from cigars to buffalo wings, chicken savoy or red sauce pasta and pizza. Nose belied the deep robust fruit peeking through a well balanced layer of tannin and sturdy construct. Maple syrup and braised meat along w a jammy plum mid palate leaving a spicy not overly extended finish. Good value, always amazed how this version of Sangiovese from around Montalcino can be so rich and balanced. Enjoy for several more years.....

The wine is clear and bright with a medium garnet colour and presence of dense legs. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium+ intensity aromas of dry cherries, black pepper, mushrooms, truffles, black tea, aromatic herbs and hints of neutral blue flowers. The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium+ acidity. It has medium+ fine-grained tannins and a medium+ alcohol. It has a medium body and medium+ intensity flavours of dry cherries, black pepper, black tea, mushrooms and hints of blue flowers. The finish is long.
It is an outstanding quality wine that shows clearly the typicity of Sangiovese and a quite decent complexity provided by spicy, floral and tertiary aromas. It has a very nice fruit concentration well-balanced by the acidity and tannins and a lingering finish. Can drink now, but it has enough tannic and acidic structure, and enough fruit concentration to develop even more complexity in the next 5-8 years.

Blind tasted. Dried red cherry, black cherry, white mushroom, forest floor, obviously Italian. I guessed Chianti Classico but should have known Brunello.
Brick red color. The nose is still fairly closed, and it needs a lot of air to open - 3 hours after opening the bottle it starts to shine. Red and dark berries, crushed rocks and some underlying spice on the nose. Loads of primary fruit on the palate - and a promise of more pronounced complexity in a couple of years. Tannins needs time to integrate properly. Medium+ body. Medium+ finish. Drink 2015 - 2023.

1 year in French oak, 1 year in Slovenian, 1 year in cement, 6 months in bottle before release. Nice floral nose, roses, dried cherry, mushroom, truffles. Beautiful palate shows immediate expression and balance, this is much more a drink now than many in the category. Layers of earth and fruit, obviously Italian notes of forest, mushroom, dried red cherries, roses, raspberry skin. Medium plus tannins sneak up on you bc they're very smooth.

À ce stade-ci, j'ai préféré le Rosso de Friggiali. Un peu dur et aurait bénéficié d'un passage en carafe. Le côté épicé ressort et le fruit est en retrait.

VIAS Imports Italian Estates (Esquin (Seattle, WA)): Wood spice dominates the nose. Medium-weight body, medium fruit, and some grippy tannins. Quite drying on the finish, and even a touch astringent, this seemed a bit disjoint at this stage.

The wine is pleasantly juicy and fresh - due to correct acidity and tannin. In no way heavy or a blockbuster.
Nose has forrest floor and a touch of mushrooms.
Color is garnet with noticeable rim.

Very easy to drink. Light, soft. Fruity. Touch of spice.

Retailer tasting: Beautiful bouquet with autumn impressions like mushrooms and earth. Same on the palate. Good acidity and tannin. Definitely a very correct wine, but not mind-blowing.
