Dark cherry plum colour, still pretty dark on rim. Nose is quite intense, more pure blackberry fruit, only a hint of smoke and meat. Palate is more of the same, nice pure fruit with just a little complexity. Lesson is probably to drink these Betz wines on the younger side when they are a little more exuberant. This is very fine with a long juicy balanced finish and serious length in a medium bodied package.

- Crimsom color with medium forming legs and aromas of cherry, strawberry jam and chocolate. It's balanced and has flavours of cherry with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a medium finish.

Bottle #2 of 3. Last consumed a bottle 2.5 yrs ago. This wine is seriously delicious, seriously lovely, especially for a WA state Syrah. Black cherry, embers, a bit of pepper, perhaps some olive pit and wet soil. The tannins are resolving nicely after 9 yrs, and there is perfectly moderated acidity to carry the delicious flavors into a long and black-fruited finish. These Betz Syrah's have been huge in their infancy, but they are developing into a well-balanced and gorgeous wine with a bit of bottle age. Quite tasty and satisfying, drink this wine through 2025+.

Blood red in color. 14.4% ABV. Savory nose of black fruits, olives, game and smoke. Full bodied with ample acidity. Rich, supple and surprisingly approachable. Black cherries, olive brine and soy sauce on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long with caressing tannins. The most approachable bottle of Betz in recent memory. Really delicious. Best over the next 2-4 years.

P&P. Great Syrah, with good fruit, ample acid and tannin, but nothing over the top. All is in harmony. This is drinking well at age 7, but can easily go another 5+. Drink now - 2025+.

Quite good, refreshing style of Syrah. The alcohol does not poke through, and the finish shows refined tannins with black fruit and smoke. Drink now through 2024.

Rich, delicious full-bodied blackberry fruit, black olive and earth flavors, excellent structure, ample finish. Finally this is the Betz Syrah that I've been looking for. Accessible, round, deep, delicious, and long lasting.

Dark fruit and leather on the nose, with iodine and meat juice, and a little spice at the end. Rich and juicy on the palate, with black fruit and iodine, some leather and meat, and a nice peppery finish.

Youthful purple in glass Lovely tar and smoke on nose Smooth tannins with fruit and gentle pepper on whole of palate, tannins continue underpinning layers of fruit to the long finish

Tonight I needed a Syrah
No signs of bricking, dark to the rim
Nose has nice brambly notes of blackberry and cracked pepper
Palate is still youthful with lots of blackberry and spice. Tannins are still a touch aggressive on the finish.
Probably needs another 5 years to soften up

This was good but not consistent with other notes. Maybe past its prime or maybe just this bottle.

I enjoyed this. Beautiful nose. Fruit forward, with a hint of spice in the background. Tannins have mellowed, but are still present. Finish lasts.
I don't think this is on a downward slope yet, but I see no reason to wait to drink this.

Only starting to come out of its shell. Full bodied, juicy character, bacon fat, meaty, so, so good. Long finish, 30+ seconds.
