PnP, dark purple to inky in color. Smoky black fruit and a slight brine to the nose. Palate is a subtly bitter blend of more red than black fruit, black licorice, green olive, hint of Coke Classic on the finish. Full-bodied, tingly/spicy mid-palate, decent length finish, maybe a bit clipped. Interesting wine.

95% Syrah/5% Grenache. Crazy good wine at 13-years old. Blackberry, blueberry, and dark plums. Wonderful, silky texture to it yet bold mid-palate nots of violets, crushed rock, spice, fresh herbs, and subtle bacon fat? Smooth tannins, long finish. Fantastic now but no rush...this is built for the long haul.

Tasted blind. Dark as night, some savory/meaty syrah notes, but also dark fruit and a little heat. 12 years old? Can't be. Bottle said 14.1%, but this seemed bigger. Nice wine (I love Paso), but this seemed more like a one glass wine.

Whoa...this is epic! 95% Syrah/5% Grenache. Blackberry, dark blueberry, and plum. Beautiful core of floral notes along with crushed rock, spice, herbs, smoke, vanilla, and subtle bacon fat. Smooth tannins, long finish. This is wonderfully complex right now after 10+ years and is wonderfully balanced. One of the better wines I have had this year.
Wow! Is this a huge wine? Yes. Is this well balanced? Absolutely. It has all of the paso fruit but displays such graceful acidity on the finish. One of the best bottles of paso Syrah I've had, and trust me I've had just about all of them from the Westside. Violets, pastis, purple berries, smoked herbs, a touch of mocha on the back end with that chewy torrin texture. The acidity and stony minerality wrap things up in the super long finish. Nothing left to really to be desired.

Thermonuclear fruit bomb to the nth degree. Dark dark blueberry, plum, blackberries. Cinnamon, tobacco, vanilla, bacon fat umami bomb. A touch green.
While well made and enjoyable, stylistically it’s like some Aussie Shiraz that becomes overblown. I’m not shying away from Paso, but this is pushing the limit and I’m a much bigger fan of the newer restrained style of Saxum etc.

Opened in the bottle and drank over 1-3 hours (did continue to develop to a point). Silky smooth with no sharp edges or harshness to speak of. Full bodied with at least a few years of healthy life remaining. Sweet/smokey fruit accented by plenty of vanilla extract, coconut, leather, wild game, minerals and lavender. The Syrah clearly shines bright but the sweetness of the 5% Grenache adds nice complexity. Don’t see reason to hold much longer.

This wine is in a really great spot at the moment. Decant for 1.5 hours. Dark fruit on the nose. Wood is fading to the background. The fruit to wood ratio after 9 years is what makes this wine special.

Same as my previous notes from November. The best showing of this wine I've ever had. 98 points from RP seems about right. My last bottle. Wish I had more, but at more than twice the release price ($60 then; now $110-120) on the secondary market, I just can't bring myself to pick up more.
For those holding bottles, it is now coming into its prime drinking window. Drink with confidence now, or hold for the next few years if you feel like it. It's a pretty amazing bottle of Syrah. Super concentrated without being heavy. Amazing purity of fruit. Craftsmanship of winemaking is painfully evident. Amazing!
This has renewed my faith in Torrin. One of those wines that makes you regret not buying a case four years ago on release.
96-97+ points. A little more modern than other Syrahs from the region under the same vintage (a la Saxum and Alban).
The most purpley-purple wine I've seen in a while. It's dark and lovely with a clean rim and the legs form and move slower than a fucking sloth. The nose is soft and full of creamy blackberries and smokey chocolate. Layers of fruits and woods unfold seamlessly and leave behind notes of smokey meat, lead and minerals and savory tamirand. The alcohol is well hidden from the palate but hits the head hard.

An intense and broad-shouldered Syrah blend. Big blackberry, charcoal, black plum and purple berry fruit notes. A beautiful and powerful zing of brambly black raspberry and sage remind you that the small dollop of Grenache means serious business and isn't going to be ignored.
I found the interplay of flavors to be very interesting and kept me coming back for more all evening. Held its own for nearly four hours. Intense and powerful all the way through without ever being a brute or overtly heavy. This needed about an hour in the decanter to be a little more approachable than it initially was on PnP.
94-95 points. A very solid Syrah blend with a number of years ahead of quality consumption. I'll let my remaining bottle rest for another year or two if I can help it just to see what other flavors might emerge.

A weekend of nice wines.: Opened and this was a hot, oaked mess. Ok, that is a bit harsh, but I was not happy and after drinking a glass, the cork went back in. Opened again on the following night, gave it a half hour of air and boom! Great wine. Every sip made me say wow. Inky purple in color. The nose is deep with black raspberries, roasted meat, black pepper and a bit of wet leather. On the palate, there is a soft texture that is seamless. Layers of depth with fruit and a meaty quality. Nice acidity. Long finish. Delicious, complex and beguiling (on day 2). Glad we waited.

The first Torrin I've ever had, and hopefully not the last. On a PnP, the nose was unbelievably strong. Good, but strong. My gf took and sip and uttered, "Yum." Over the next 90 minutes we consumed this inky black monster. Light fails to penetrate it, but it bursts with dark fruits and hits like Mohammed Ali. A very strong wine with amazing flavors. Highly recommended for Syrah fans.

Dark purple and heavy in the glass. Nose of blueberry, cedar, pepper and boysenberry pie. Full body, polished, persistent and highly extracted dark fruit on the palate. Secondary pepper and earth. Long, long finish. Too sweet and monolithic for my palate, but nevertheless a very high-quality and bold wine.

Opened and placed in a brown bag for a blind tasting of California Syrahs. Opened about 1 hour before the tasting and then followed over a 3 or 4 hour period. Tasted with food.
Good dark purple color. Rich black fruits on the nose. Slight medicinal note. Rich fruits but with a streak of acidity that gives it lift and helps carry the weight of the fruit. Balanced and with good complexity. Slight heat at times but that seemed to dissipate the longer the bottle was open. Delicious.

Decanted for 12 hours prior to tasting. Actually more giving than the usual young Torrin, rich blue and black fruit coats the palate with some earth and iron notes. A baby flexing its muscles; this bottle has such powerful potential. Bravo.

Dark red with some purple tinting. Black raspberry, dark mixed fruits, rare beef, and currents. Very complex . Still is very primary and fruit forward. Needs more time but was my only bottle and I wanted to try it before I committed to future purchases. This will remain on my buy list!

Consumed over 2 days, note from day 2. Nose: Closed down, needs a good swirl to reveal dark fruit - blackberry and cassis, licorice, menthol, tobacco, and spice - complexities abound on the nose but need coaxing to reveal themselves. Palate: Full bodied, blue and black fruit, great spicy mid-palate lift, tobacco and leather components add complexity. Finish: Lengthy sense of spicy dark fruit and earthiness. This wine needs a couple plus years to come into it's own, but when it does it will be something to behold. 93+

Awesome Dinner with Friends (Erasmus, SQN, Saxum, Pride, Dehlinger++) (Out and about): This thing is a brute. It is backward and in need of a lot of cellaring. This is not for wimps. Inky purple in color. The nose has black raspberries, leather, black pepper, and clay. On the palate, it starts as a wall of purple fruit. As you drink it, it is hard to see the murky depths. With air and time, it starts to show complexity and a bit of deftness that wasn't there at the beginning. This needs at least 5 years and probably more, but I think it will eventually be amazing. For those who like them young, this is still truly outstanding right now. It is over powering but delicious.

Had a bottle at Thomas Hill Organics fro just $12 more than the release price. Hugely extracted with a perfumed nose with spice and a body and finish that would not stop. Decanted for 12 hours prior to tasting. Actually more giving than the usual young Torrin, rich blue and black fruit coats the palate with some earth and iron notes. A baby flexing its muscles; this bottle has such powerful potential. Bravo.

Blackberry pie, blackberry juice, and oak. Notes pretty slim here, but you get where I'm coming from. Too fruity-oaky for me.

Dark red with some purple tinting. Black raspberry, dark mixed fruits, rare beef, and currents. Very complex . Still is very primary and fruit forward. Needs more time but was my only bottle and I wanted to try it before I committed to future purchases. This will remain on my buy list!

Dark blue/purple sweet jammy fruit. Oak, tannin, earth, floral. Big wine but more elegant than some other Paso Syrah. Opened up and became more floral with time. Primary. Young.

Nice dark berry fruit with solid tannins. A full-bodied beauty of a Syrah. Excellent to food. Requires 2 h of decanting. One of my two favorite Syrahs from the Central Coast (Alban and Torrin).

Still young and moving around, drank after decanted and changed over the meal. Only 1 in the cellar, hold for at least 3 more years

Four of us at the dinner table enjoyed this wine with fish tacos. 3 out of 4 said "wow". A great aroma. It's big, heavy, and like a big bottom girl "got rocking things going on". A baseball fan might say "it goes into extra innings".
