Third and final bottle, and now I'm sad because this wine is drinking absolutely perfectly right now. My last tasting noted a bit of green-ness but not getting any of that from this bottle. Lots of plum and a bit of menthol/forest floor. It's smoothed out so well with time, but with no signs of oxidation.

Decanted and tasted after 4 hours. Nose of floral and forest floor, almost Bordeaux like. Nice, but wished it were more expressive. Smooth, velvety and unctuous. Hints of eucalyptus, mellowed tannins and a nice mouth feel. Finishes nicely with a bramble, stewed red fruit compote mix. Served with a grilled porterhouse and lyonnaise potatoes.

Previous tasting note still stands with the addendum of heavy plum notes. Tasted a bit "green" right out of the bottle and run through a vinturi, but that totally disappeared with a bit more air. Great wine for this price point. Note for next (& final) bottle: give this one more time for the decant.

Decent cab but a bit hard and sour with an excessively dark note and otherwise modest fruit. Not much fun to drink. Unlikely that additional aging will help. Not worth the price, over-rated.

Luscious fruit on the palette. Nose of ripened crushed berries. A terrific fruit driven start. Ripe red fruits like raspberry, some strawberry and skin-less plum. Finish is spice driven with fully resolved tannins. Finish lasts for 30 plus seconds.
I have a few more of these in my cellar but this is clearly one of the best value wines I have had this year.

Grilled some tenderloins and was craving something a bit sweeter, this fit the bill well, had not aged as much you'd think over this period of time in he cellar, loads of sludge in the neck of the bottle, lots of sweet oak and vanilla atop and intertwined with the sweet blueberry, blackberry, cassis, plums, darker floral, cedar clove and other spice, smooth but present tannin and some alcoholic burn on finish; good QPR.

So, I was worried when I read the last assessment of this wine. Yes, it is not a thick and chewy Napa cab, but it is no slouch in the cab world. Lots of dark fruits and some loamy undertones. Last one upcoming.

Disappointing, given the $50ish price, we expect more for $50. We let breathe 2 hours and decanted 2 hours. It was varietally correct and supple, but a little on the thin and perhaps even a little bit less than medium-bodied. Prior vintages have been more robust with lots of character and depth and that was not the case here. The only logical explanation would be that this is in pop and pour status and we gave it too much air, but a 6 1/2 year Napa Cab that doesn't need that???? We recently travelled to Napa and skipped Round Pond because of their ridiculously high tasting prices and found plenty of better wine at that price point, we are at the point of skipping Round Pond altogether, although we have 4 of their Kith and Kins, 2013.

Day 2. 1/3 bottle left from night before. Still drinking well. Fruit has subsided, allowing for savory nuances of black olives to dominate profile. Texture remains plush, full and smooth. This indicates to me there are years of life left for this vintage, though as I suspected, the fruit will likely only subside.

Popped and poured. Ready to go immediately. Soft, plush, smooth, and full body. All the tannins have resolved and are now integrated. Gorgeous layers of concentrated, black cherry and melted milk chocolate, are complimented by an integrated, dusty, oak spice, which all linger on a decent finish. Very satisfying. What was a good value at release, that has become a stunning value with age. Unsure if it will get much better, without losing its opulence. Drinking great now.

Solid wall of dark purple fruit/blackberries. Lots of spices, herbs and strong tannins. Medium plus mouthfeel. Good acidity. Much better after aerating for three hours, with more fruit coming out after a few hours in glass. Other two bottles that I drank 1-2 years ago were a bit fruitier so I'm wondering if it's a bit closed right now. Strong example of Rutherford cab. If I had more I would hold for a few more years before drinking or long 5+ hour decant.

In OC with Ralph and Butch. Ralph and family have had this before and really enjoyed it, fun to drink with them.

With Val and her friends on a weeknight dinner... last wine of the evening, pulled on impulse. Splash decanted and drank over an hour.
Dark purple color. Rich nose of blackcurrants, floral notes, cedar - nose jumps out of the glass. Blueberry, cassis, cedar, vanilla oak, cardamon on the palate. Oak is integrating, dusty Rutherford taste. This wine is still young, tannins starting to integrate but still gritty.
Very nice wine - especially at this price. Classic Calif Cab, should drink at this level for 5+ years. Will be interesting to see the arc on this.

New World Blind Tasting Group $25+ (Bin 75): Poured at the end of the evening; seemed fatter than previous bottles with cassis, plum, blackberry, more ripe with soft tannin and low acid, darker fruit more like the Rutherford; not my favorite bottle of this I've had.

More tannic than I expected, this has quite some life to it. Old-school California Rutherford Dust. Oaky on the backend but nothing that overwhelms the plum and cassis. Classic vigor in its pencil lead piercing tanacity, lots of herbal notes in the mid-palate and beyond. Lasting flavor like the Energizer bunny. Had with a big juicy steak, a classic match "to die for" ...

Very approachable now and delicious richness for the price. Big graceful fruit, but not hot. It all seems to come together with a nice long rich finish including what I describe as the beef jerky meatiness that is difficult to find, but what I love about Rutherford Bench wines. Update...next couple of bottles after a month in the cellar needed quite a bit of swirling decanter time to open up, still delicious, but now seems more like many other 2010's which are needing time.

Overly ripe, jammy, notes of sweet candy on the back of the palate early-on, overly astringent, mixed with overwhelming notes of cedar and cigar and leather. At times, it is cloyingly astringent and sweet. Way too young to drink it seems. 84-85

A very elegant and beautiful nose with all the typical elements you expect in a Napa Cab such as wet granite, menthol, red currant and subtle cherry. The palate follows through nicely with a perfect balance, but rather harsh and vivid tannins at the back-end. The length on the finish lasts some 50+ seconds. There is an obvious complexity in the wine with several layers being visible and these will only continue to develop as time passes. This effort will age well, but drinks nicely today too given a proper aeration.

Deep color. This is bold and concentrated on the nose; showing dark fruit, coffee, oak, flowers, and a hint of cedar. On the palate, this is rich and concentrated, with a full body. There is very good depth and a hint of mineral as well. Long finish, with sophisticated tannins.

Dark purple with thin rim; nose of cedar, boxwood, black currant, distinctly Cab, very floral; floral notes and tangy cassis dominate the palate in this fresh and subtly powerful Cab, no obvious new oak, dusty grainy tannin probably coming from the Rutherford fruit provides a nice injection of texture; classic Napa Cab that is fresh and varietally correct, hard not to like this.

Opaque core with thin purple rim; nose and palate of sweet dark fruit, blackberry and cassis, plush though still some cedar and grainy tannin to let you know this is more serious cab; very tasty now though it should get better over the next 4 years; worked well with the filet.

Pretty nose of back currants, licorice and black plums with some deeply hidden sweetness. very nice. Palate shows nice pureness with a slight drying crossing through. not a deal breaker though. I get black berries, creme de cassis, Kirsch Royal and a touch of cardamon. Tannins are large but behaved and overall balance is spot-on. Finish has the dark black fruits in control. the mouth feel on this one is a joy and a welcome gift on a cold Friday evening. Tremendous QPR here. this should drink beautifully for the next 4-5 years or so, as long as the fruit hold out. A 'why bother waiting' wine for sure.

Saturday Night Get Together Non-Blind (Bin 75): Consistent with previous notes; feel this drinks well now and balanced enough to drink well in 2020.

Opaque core with thin purple rim; nose and palate of sweet dark fruit, blackberry and cassis, plush though still some cedar and grainy tannin to let you know this is more serious cab; very tasty now though it should get better over the next 4 years; worked well with the filet.

very expressive nose of bright raspberries, a hint of chocolate, and caramelly oak. the palate is better than the 09 with riper berries and more pronounced acidity. like it.

Big and sweet oak and all Napa. For its fifty-ish price tag it fits.

Drank this at a business dinner in Hartford. A smooth, nice wine that's very nice to drink. A hint of tannins on the first pour. $79 on their list.

nice cab. I would like a bit more acidity, good finish. nose of french oak. Dark inky hue. balanced tannins, not to jammy.

PNV week, part of a 2005-11 vertical on Rutherford Estate. This was #4 wine of the tasting for our group.
Bigger wine, very young and fresh. Rutherford dust is evident on the finish.

Light in color for a Napa cab. Light and approachable aromas and flavors. Nice fruity yet balanced entry, but the mid-palate and and finish are weak and lacking flavor. Drank at Fin Bistro restaurant in Marco.

Rich earthy sous bois, deep cassis notes; rich and concentrated with cassis, fuller body, rich opulent tannins and a touch of sweet oak. Medium coarse finish.

Good, not great napa cab. Opened up after about an hour and showed some nice fruit. For the price, worth it though. Hard to find a napa cab under 30.
