Tannins remain fairly strong while the fruit is fading, unbalanced overall. Tasted over several hours of decanting. I did not like the tasting experience much. Should have enjoyed this last bottle a year ago.
Amazing wine, deep purple red color, young and fruity some animal funk in the beginning after decanting for an hour, lots of black fuit, methol, cherries, dark chocolate, brown sugar, a hint of saddle leather on nose and palette, velvety perfectly integrated tannins highly distinguished and elegant gentlemen wine - like a classic jazz night - never ending - so good - just 1 bottle left unfortunately
2 hour decant. Nose of dark plum, wet earth, a touch of dill, and a sharp barnyard aroma. Rich black currant, black fruit, and dark cherry coats the moth, adding minerals and tannins but it's a bit flabby without much complexity. Tannins continue on the finish, adding ash, barnyard, funky dark fruit, and lingering soil.

Full and dense nose. Black fruit and plum. Liquorice and ink. Herbs and barnyard. After a while - too much Brett! Fullish, impeccably concentrated, harmonius, very right bank palate. Dense and deep. Round and ripe. Plum, gently oaky and generous. Very good length. But - after an hour or so, the wine is overwhelmed by Brett. If you like a healthy dose of that, this wine is probably 94 pts.
Generös, üppig, offen, balanciert, Ledersattel, Tabak, Menthol, dunkle Früchte, extrem lang, alles was man braucht. Für noch mehr Punkte könnte er noch etwas mehr Leichtigkeit und Frucht haben.

Purple/brown inky hue, soft nose. First taste was smooth, not complex - rose, leather, dark fruits moving into light tannins and soft finish, no earth or oak. Good not great. Expected more given now 10yrs

Deep Garnet. Served in the glass for one hour aeration. For the next one hour it remained disappointing. Totally closed fruit. There were only earthy and tobacco notes on the nose. Furthemore, tanic, too intense, alcohol present. One hour later it started to show some fruit, mellowing out and minerality. Medium to full-bodied, medium to long finish. May be it needs a 5 hour decanting or a few more years. At this point is not so enjoyable and definitely NOT at this price point.

10 years Old and lots of life to come ( but not this bottle ) Typical Bordeaux blend with Merlot in front and very Dark color. Wonderfull nose and tast. Nice to have a star from St.Emilion , do not forget Bordeaux with some age…( note to myself )
Again, the 2012 right bank is definitely more forthcoming than the left bank, but that of course is no big surprise. This property is definitely upper echelon, I get the sense this was the case before RMP, although I don't know much about older vintages. The wine did nothing to dispel my belief that Bordeaux, at least on the right bank, should be consumed between ages 8-15, maybe more like 12-20 on the left bank, depending on the vintage, of course. This wine was still youthful, but delicious with a strip sirloin, the bright red/ruby color a fine representation of St. Emilion. I loved it, even if it may have been just a touch more international than the other right bankers I've had recently from 2012. This wine will drink well for another 20 years, I'm sure it will be "different" then, I'm just hardpressed to see it as "better." It's a beauty, though, and this is without doubt an elite estate in Bordeaux, Parker or no Parker. 13.5%, balanced. Rating: 94 points.
1st bottle from a half case bought en primeur. Drinking now with soft merlot fruit and some soft fine grained tannins. A sweet mulberry nose. Somewhat disjointed with alc seeming higher than the 13.5pc stated, perhaps accentuated by the acidity. Not my bag but will continue to improve for many years. Poor QPR.
The wine had upon opening, an unpleasant musty palate (but not flawed), somehow an inharmonious body and fruit (dried prune). Was a bit better on the 2nd day but still not very enjoyable to drink.

Deep garnet red with first hues of crimson. Cherry black chocolate blueberry muffin roasted notes and a bit of vanilla. Medium to full bodied with silky smooth tannins and long intriguing finish.
Singing tony with plums, blackberries, stones, spices and subtle savory hints on the nose, really generous palate with the 12 fresh mouth feel, some tannins which need more time and a decent finish
Excellent wine for our traditional Christmas Dinner en famillie, red and black berries, not too much dried fruits or compot, just perfect, saddle leather some animal funk but not to much, decanted for 4 hours very very good
Powerful nose of singed earth, rawhide, smoky notes, and red currant. Layers of red currant and cherry with roses, other floral notes, peppery earth, and spice. Firm finish of tobacco, black leather, black shoe polish, and a finale of soil.

Intensely rich St.-Emilion, another Right Banker from 2012 that didn't get the memo this was supposed to be an off-vintage. Actually a bit too intense - I didn't really start enjoying it until a good hour or two of mellowing out. It opened with dark berry fruit with a twist of sun-dried cranberry (there always seems to be a hint of compoted fruit in Clos Fourtet). Even after that fades away, the fruit remains cranked up to 11 for a good long while. You don't really feel the tannins until quite a lot of airtime, but when they come out it's a welcome counterpoint to all that inky fruit, and they actually have a gentle, refined bearing to them. There is oak here and it's a bit raw, but not especially prominent.
Drank from Coravin several times over months. The last time was the best probably benefited from the extra aeration. Complex nose with blackberries, blackcurrant, forest floor and animal funk. Medium bodied palate filled with dark fruits leading to a long, chocolatey aftertaste. Medium high but fine grained tannins. Glad I have a couple more in the cellar.

Needed some decanting for sure. Tasted best after 1.5 hours of decanting and kept evolving. Great earthiness and St. Emillion minerality with relatively rich but not overly opulent fruit. Delightful, with years ahead.

The blackberry notes won me over big time... -a good lengthy finish as well It needed about 3 hours to open up and then the dark berry and blackberry started to sing.
Silky and smooth with ripe red and black fruit. Nice streak of acidity on the finish. Approachable now. Long finish. Excellent for the vintage. Will gain with a few more years in the cellar. Drink 2022-2027.
Very disappointed by this bottle. Is it just me, or is there quite a lot of Bret in this wine? I don't usually mind it, but it seemed to dominate. Anyway, whatever the off notes were, I didn't enjoy them. Although others at the table loved it. So perhaps I am the odd one out?
I was unimpressed by this wine despite its premier cru classification. I guess I expected a little more. It had good texture, but fell short on the palette. I've definitely tasted better Bordeaux before.

This will be good in a few years but right now its all over the place. Its dry and gets all over your mouth and tongue for over a minute. Not in a great place right now.
Still a monster with serious grip. Good weight with nice delicious fruit and moderate oak, some tobacco as well. Balanced, full bodied intense, needs like minimum another 5y to become approachable – for now 94p., but with time could go 96+category.

So young, the nose was funky and fantastic, but the wine itself is definitely a little closed right now. I'm not touching my other bottles for at least another 4-5 years, you could tell that there was a very good Bordeaux hiding in the decanter last night, we just didn't get a chance to taste it!

This bottle was badly corked. Underneath it all, it was apparent there was a high quality Bordeaux, as you could still sense the velvety texture. Tried a trick I heard about this week: Put a couple of handfuls of Glad plastic wrap into a decanter and emptied the bottle into it. Left for about 1/2 hour and the chemical reaction nearly eliminated the corked nose and taste. The process slightly muted the fruit, but overall the the wine was impressive after the experiment. Highly recommend this to salvage a corked wine.
From a Coravin sample. Sweet, inviting, slightly jammy fruit in modern style with dark raspberries aromas. Very fine silky tannin, lots of fruit, rich, some wet soil notes and a refreshing coolness about it makes the palate better than the nose. Very good balance and medium plus finish. Will keep but drinks very well now.

Tasting note : very young when first opened. After 30mins decanting, berries started to come out. After one hour of decanting very balanced, more berries and cherries on the nose; quite dry.; but didn't taste the smokiness like in some of the reviews. For 530hkd it's worth to drink now or keep for years to come.

Blind tasting of 2011 and 2012 red Bordeaux. Smoky oak on the nose, some ripe fruit and spices, but rather firm and muted. On the palate tight with grippy tannins, but with lots of stuffing underneath. Fresh and long, this needs time but should be promising. 91-93(+?)

En Primeur Bdx. 2014 tasting event, reference wine from producer from older vintage, tasting pour, short note. Another flabby and out of balance Right Bank on display today. Oak, sweet, rich and over extracted fruit, that’s all. No balance or terroir to be found, just full throttle. (83 – 85)

Splendid nose. Young, concentrated and with a deep dark fruit. Not fully integrated oak (vanilla). Seducing notes of cigarre. And gravel! All against a curtain of lovely dark plum fruit. Full and nuanced. Depths of cedar, nuts and mint. Fullish, concentrated, generous palate. Oaky with a splendid dark fruit structure and very good grip. Tight plummy and well structured without being too modern, extracted or vulgar. Very good intensity and long finish. I've tasted a handful 2012 Bordeaux, and this is by far the most impressive. Already so inviting and supple.

Remarkably silky on the palate, even upon opening. After some breathing, fantastic fruit-filled nose (yum!) that kept me sniffing at the wine, even several hours later. That said, tannins are, as expected for such young Bordeaux, painfully bitter, even on 2nd day. Likely to be 95+ wine in a few years.

With 86% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.7. The wine will be aged in 60%, new French oak barrels for 18 months. Deep in color with floral, licorice, dark red berries and earth in the nose, the wine is rich, lush and deep with soft tannins. The wine ends with sweet licorice and chocolate-covered berries. To produce the wine in this difficult vintage, Chateau Clos Fourtet performed 3 green harvests during the growing season. 92-94 Pts

BBR 2016 Bordeaux tasting (London): Super silky with classy quality. Drinks really well now. Rather big wine compared to most other 2012 on display. Look out for this to buy!

Tasted next to the 2016. Also quite rich and generous, showing a bit of alcohol. Quite big and a little heavy. Good tannic grip. Slightly bitter finish. 90-91+

Nice nose, muted fruits, good balance, and brought out nice meat flavor of our dish. Not a long finish. Overall was pleased with this wine, but was expecting more for this price point.

Earth and mushroom nose. Herbal and black fruit on the palate. Gregarious but also already secondary. Drink over the next 5 with a decant. Tasted blind. Guessed R bank.

The wine has depth and elegance, but the mid-palate is closed. Hopefully will open up in a couple year. Hold.

Ripe blackberry, cumin, hints of graphite and notes of urine; smooth, extended, very long-lived, tannins present, balanced, certainly a little too young but very very good

Licorice, truffle, cherry pipe tobacco and dark chocolate scents create the attention seeking perfume. Full bodied, rich and concentrated, the wine is lush, round and rich, with a long, sweet, fleshy, silky, fruit filled finish.

Very aromatic prototypical Bordeaux nose. Smokey, woody, earthy...which carries onto the palate. Tannins are relatively tame, mid-palate is kind of light. Very dry as one would expect. Fruit is very dark plum and tight.

Binny's Fall Bordeaux Tasting (Binny's South Loop): Binny's South Loop Bordeaux tasting. Nose is reticent, slightly smoky and with a hint of meat. Palate was not giving much today, probably because it was not decanted.

Bordeaux 2014 en primeur with Winefinder (Munchenbryggeriet, Stockholm): very tight nose at this stage, but good fruit and palate save for the oak bitterness at the end. Impossible to tell when this will be ready to drink at this stage, and how great the reward will be.

An impressive bright blood red. Clear and transparent. One of the best looking Merlots I have seen recently.
Creamy texture, with a full body of cherries and a chocolate aftertaste.
A great structure and whilst tannic, easier to drink than I expected
Surely has decades left. Drink 2018-2030
*so tough to score... I give this 93 but think/hope/expect this to hit even greater heights (I simply loved the appearance of this wine)

Smoke, truffle black cherries and licorice scents catch your attention and the smooth, soft, silky, polished, sweet, ripe fruits on the palate keep you focused on what’s in your glass. The long, supple, chocolate coated, black cherry finish is a treat.

92-94 Pts
