Karamell, litt kaffe, smør, sitrus - veldig rik på duft. Frisk i munnen, utvikler seg hele veien gjennom smakskurven og ender i sylta sitrus. Veldig harmonisk. Fantastisk - kveldens vin.

Pnp. Not premox. On nose honey, yellow fruits, nectar, floral - very pronounced and typical matured leflaive nose. AMAZING! On palate it has mineral, balanced and long finish. The cremy texture just melted in your mouth. That’s why we love leflaive - when it’s on - it rocks!

Food: Chinese Duration: 3 hours Condition: perfect Aroma: pear, white flower Notes: I did not like this wine. The level of complexity and the typical aroma of a good leflaive is just not here. Do I think it's too young? Maybe, but I don't really see the potential either way. Disappointing.

Perfect golden color. Lovely nose of ripe lemons, pineapple, butter, clove spice and stinging minerals. Quite rich and concentrated with very intense and ripe lemony fruit which leads to a very complex finish with notes of minerals, brown spices and a hint of sulphur. There is still good acidity to balance out the intense ripeness and I think this is perfectly mature now although it should hold. A very good aged Combettes.

13.5% LG's birthday. Nose is a bit advance with honey, brûlée note otherwise it has pretty aromatic profile of chrysanthemum and ripe yellow fruits. Medium gold. Velvety mouthfeel, Bright acidity, leading through, with good length and elegance, it has the finesse to engage you, and silent power to coat the palate. Quite saline. Very good but will stay neutral at 3* due to the nose otherwise 4*.

Fun to drink alongside the '08. The stylistic shift is obvious. This was leaner and focused, while the '08 was big and blowsy. In a nice place to drink now.

Wonderfully concentrated wine, with excellent structure and beautiful long finish. Expansive mouth feel, with notes of hazelnut, green apple and pear. Just a great white burgundy.

Dream's note below captures the basics of this bottle, felt tired and had too much of the caramel / hint of varnish flavors, nose was brighter but palate was old for my taste -- might even call this early premox, i continue to find that i like my GC white burgs (with some exceptions from 80's and early 90's) younger when they still have great acidity and bite

Lovely nose of sweet corn, lemons and hints of caramel. On the palate, it needed time and then began to show a deeper complexity with good acidity underneath and fairly mature flavors of buttered popcorn, caramel and butterscotch. This showed well and isn't premoxed but it has yet to show the complexity I expect from a mature Leflaive Combettes but the flavors suggest maturity so it falls a bit below my expectations although it was a crowd-pleaser.

I think this was close to Grand Cru quality. Very nice complex wine with citrus, exotic fruit and it is also a bit "fat" in the texture. Like it a lot!

Dinner at Yann's (Flatiron, NYC): Golden straw, with an edge of green yet. Huge, packed nose just spitting minerals; honey, oak, lilacs, and butter. What a great nose this has, but still very young. The palate, too, is young, textbook Leflaive, oaky but with wagons of fruit being carried. Magnificent texture, showing '02 ripeness but with perfect balancing acidity. Gloriously long, full of salty caramel and buttery richness. Splendid. Hold for 3-5 and then check back, as this is just getting started.

Burgundy 2002 Horisontal Tasting (@ Terkel): Intense nose with brown butter, white flowers and pineapple. Wauw.. The palate is just intensely packed with brown butter and a little vanilla. Almost creamy in the mouth with a pronounced acidity. Some lemon and exotic flavors also but laced with a little sulfur notes. Impressive wine!

Lovely nose of buttered popcorn and lemon. The fruit here has turned a little decadent with flavors of sweet corn and caramel. Then the finish kicks in with spicy intensity and saline acidity. Delicious tonight with mature flavors that might be a bit advanced but there is a spiny backbone of acidity. Even Leflaive in '02 has become a victim of premox and it's bottle to bottle combat in this sad war....

blind tasted against 16 others in my cellar with friends, this showed strongly. a brilliant mid straw, it smelled fresh and buttery oak, apricot and light orange. Buttery Oak citrus and floral layers but always clean, smooth with a clear light citrus overlay, medium-high length, mediumacidity and medium-high complexity. mature, smooth.

Another Leflaive triumph, with many years ahead of it. Nose: youthful and fresh and with a tight, distinctive Leflaive character and penetration.
Palate: classic Puligny - fine and penetrating - and not showing any heaviness (or Mersault Charmes characters as is sometimes said of this vineyard). Lovely structure just danced across the palate with freshness, finesse and elegance. Nice chalky / minerally / greenish / wood spices elements but didn't see the usual Leflaive hazelnutty richness. Has considerable acid cut and feels light - albeit concentrated - as it is drunk then the power comes on with a bang after it is swallowed. Has an emphatic finish that is complex and almost warm but not heavy or alcoholic. Tastes like it is only 5 or 6 years old.
A very classy, elegant and youthful white burgundy which is obviously from a top maker in a top year.

Unexpected Lunch (Les Amis - Shaw Centre): Alcohol :: 13.5% Very bright light golden, very attractive. The aromas is soft and gentle, but beautiful. I especially like the purity and elegance of this pretty gal that Leflaive can offer. Very ripe fruits and perfume white and yellow florals expression that flow through on the fine, fresh mineral with minimal oak infused aromas that wrapped in a super bright, elegance package. First sipped and the sense of harmonious, purity and elegance thrilled me immediately. Not something explosive nor show-off, this has very bright ripe fruits that gently glide through the palate with really refine, polish, creamy velvety mouth feel with layer of green herbs, fresh honey and very light caramel (yes, not the heavy type that came across as burned). The soft, polish minerality lends a lightness and extra dimension to this wine. The sheer intensity is stunning but no sense of heaviness with pretty integration of oak. I especially like the lingering finish that not let go, with fresh mineral, some citrus and herbs nuanced. Really pretty for a 1er cru and I would say this is at the entry of a Grand Cru level for it sheer class and harmonious. No doubt this is my WOTN. Buy - Yes.

A classic Leflaive Combettes with more elegance and less power than the Pucelles at this point. Balanced and nuanced with a lovely spiciness that remains on the tongue. In mid-age and should continue to improve.

A classic expression of Puligny-Montrachet. Citrus, pear and apple on the nose. It has some age on it (although could certainly be kept for another 2 or 3 years), and is accordingly very balanced on the palate. Lovely acidity and the telltale minerality of an outstanding wines from this appellation. 30-40 second finish. A wonderful bottle!

Lovely nose of sharp lemons and chalky minerals. Still has that stinging quality of youthful white Burgundy but it's starting to drink well with delicious fruit flavors of lemon, lime and pear. Finishes with strong extract and acidity and hints of stone and chalk minerals. This is a strong vintage for this bottling and it should hit its stride in another 2-3 years. 93+
