Typically for Chenin, a real fruit salad of a wine. Citrus (mainly limes) tropicals (pineapple and passion fruit and melon) cream and toast but the whiff of cardboard knocked more than a few points off. It was that enjoyable though- perfectly cellared- that I drank through the cork stank. Loved the sweet and sour interplay. It’s ready to drink now. Would have been excellent if it were not for the cork (92-93), drops to good (88-90) on this bottle.
Ps- bottle had a black sticky substancec under the capsule. it was not sugar/ullage from what I can see, more like a tar like coating. The bottle had good provenance. Has anyone had similar experience?

In a really nice place. The nose has smoky mineral notes plus some green apple and melon and a touch of the exotic. It is full in the mouth, with a delicious core of fruit cut by tangy acidity. There's still plenty of material here upon which to age further.

Annual Coravin blitz - day one (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. lemon, slight cream, mineral, lanolin, bees wax. In the mouth it's softly citric with lemon backed by quite savoury and mineral elements. Still a little skinny and simple but pleasant none the less.

So good. Lovely, Vouvray showing all it's characteristics at a very reasonable price. Some might be put off by the slight sweetness on the finish, but I think that is as it should be and so beautifully balanced by the acidity. Buy some more!

Very good, for the price, crisp classic Vouvray. Well made - would go on but it is so great now. There is a touch of sweetness but it is beautifully balanced

* Clear, pale, lemon in appearance * Clean, medium intensity smelling of citrus, green fruit, pear * Off-dry, medium acidity, medium body with flavors of citrus and green fruit * Good

Easy drinking architypal Vouvray. Good acidity, pleasant apple fruit with a touch of apricot. Slight spritz? I'm going to leave the rest to put on a bit of weight for a year or two (but very good now).

Notes on Wines from December 2021 (Wellington, NZ): Served double blind, small pour. Chenin typicity. At a nice stage of its evolution for drinking. The sugar, fruit and acid in good balance.

Citrus and more specifically grapefruit notes. Lightly spicy and fun to drink as an apertif or before the reds come out.

Much better after warming up in the glass for a bit before drinking.
