Pop and pour. Nice purple garnet color. Nose offers prunes Nd stewed fruits. Suggesting this is past prime. Plum and dried cherry. Oxidative notes. Kept this one too long. For this bottle at this time it is an 85.
As I retasted, this wi ewas cooked. I changed it to likely flawed. Too pruney and cooked.

Drinkable, but certainly past its peak. Still has some stewed fruit, tobacco, earthiness, and tannins, together with quite some sweetness. Somewhat one-dimensional at this stage. This was my last bottle, drink up.

Quick pop and decanter swirl. Color remains somewhat youthful. Nose of muted cherry, florals and underbrush. Good fruit up front but goes flat and somewhat flabby on mid palate and finish. Better the second day. Longer finish with a bit more body but not by much. Seems to be on the decline. Drink up.

Lovely entry level wine from Petrolo, smaller brother to the legendary Galatrona. The excellent 2011 vintage is 85% Sangiovese along with Merlot and CS 🍇, aged for 15 months in French barriques.
Nose is very full and structured. Tastewise very pure, fruit-forward experience (cherry, blueberry) along with some spiciness but nevertheless it's also being carried by a nice full body. Lovely tannic structure and just enough barrique influence with subtle notes of vanilla. Slowly becoming a sangiovese guy here!

Finally, an aged Italian red that is drinkable. Some fruit, minimal tannins, but not a lot of "there" "there". At least it was not horrible and doomed to the Vin Bin.

I remember one or two previous vintages being better but this is still very nice; classic Tuscan profile with some acidity and a kind of sunburned leather feel. Tasty - good food wine. 91+pts

At bottle opening, weird nose that disappear in a minute with carafing, I was a little worried at the beginning. Then, it comes out as an excellent wine in its prime. Supple but intense flavors of blueberry and blackberry juice. Nice mouthfeel. Sage herb on the finish. Still very alive with some acidity and balanced tannins. Wife:93 (completely unaware of previous ratings) I gave 93 twice before for this wine. 92 now because of the nose at bottle opening.

Déception sur ce millésime, pour le prix on trouve facilement mieux en Chianti, c`est pas le choix qui manque. Nez fermé et sur le chimique. En bouche, un peu mince, fruit en retrait et finale courte. Bof.

Cherries, rose petals, and red apple rind on the nose. Strawberry licorice with a woody escence and a spike in tartness leading into the finish. Smooth, but doesn't have the depth to have a silky texture. For this wine, I think that maybe superfluous as it certainly doesn't detract from being a great wine and at it's price point. ($23US) An absolute steal.

Dark red --- Nose sour cherry, flowery, shy elegant wood notes --- Palate fresh, vivid, very nice acidity, red fruit attack, nice flow, hint of pralines --- Finishes on tart notes, some bark, some licorice, mineral notes. Not multi layered but well structured. I like this vine very much, tasty, captivating, well defined. Vivid, pure, like a song composed of a few notes. I believe in a very inerteresting development.

This is a lovely wine. Decanted for 45 minutes to an hour. The nose is aromatic and impressive. I found it full bodied and quite lush on the pallate. I get what others have said about it being unidimensional however the fruit and density made up for it. This wine is very rich and regal. Great qpr. Drank in a flight with a dense rhone and this wine was clearly favored.

Purchased from the wine list at Locanda Le Piazze (Castellina in Chianti) to have with dinner in their restaurant. A dark, semi-opaque garnet in color. The nose on this was very powerful and attractive. Beautiful, complex aromas of dried herbs, earth and flowers fill the glass. Uunfortunately, the palate was not nearly as impressive. Full-bodied, rich and nicely balanced, but lacking in depth and complexity. Offers a juicy mouthful of sour cherry and tangy raspberry fruit, but the mid-palate is noticeably hollow and the finish is quite short. Very tight, compact and one-dimensional. Lacks the structure, complexity and finesse of prior vintages. 2011 was a difficult vintage in Tuscany, and apparently especially unkind to Torrione. Maybe this will improve with further bottle aging, but I'm not very optimistic. 50+5+13+13+7=88

Dark Ruby. Note is restrained but with aeration shows ripe dark cherry, brambly fruit, some smoky aromas and a touch of iron and meat. Palate opens soft and fruity, but with good acidic lift, loosing its momentum on the somewhat hollow midpalate and ending shortly on a note of smoky tobacco. While pleasant, there is a complete lack of tannin and structure here which i think will make it best for near term consumption, now until 2018

James Suckling/Zachy's Super Tuscany Tasting (City Winery (Varick Street in NYC)): This is very easy drinking. Didn't see much evolution here, but it's a $30 daily drinker. A bit more character than some of the others in that category at the tasting and perhaps you'd get a bit of evolution. Overshadowed by the Galatrona and single barrel version.
