Decanted and paired with grilled Filet of beef. Brown/red color. On nose, strawberry, red currants, menthol and tobacco. Palate was similar - medium+ body, medium acidity/tannins and long finish. Overall, wine was "flat" relative to prior bottles. Not flawed, but not all that interesting. 90+/-

beautiful nebbiolo, with 13 years of age this is starting to mellow out but is still pretty bold... I think of 2010 as a pretty mellow vintage in burgundy but not sure about Piedmont... this again is getting there but I would think this is best 2025 and onward... notwithstanding, we loved it with our sausage / rotini dinner

Medium red color. Aromas of red and black cherries, leather and underbrush. Ripe, nicely structured fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. Round and polished on the palate. This delicious wine is just now entering its peak drinking period.

Beautiful color, a touch of fading. The nose shows pure aromas of wild cherry, flowers, herbs, leather, camphor and a hint of tobacco. This is medium full bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and wonderful class. The fairly long finish features refined tannins and a mineral element.

PNP. Brick red color. On nose, sandalwood/cedar, sweet cherry, strawberry and floral notes. Full body, elegant mouthfeel and mouthwatering acidity (full acidity). Fruit was very "Burgundian" in style and this had strawberry/cherry notes on palate - integrated tannins and very long finish. 92-93 range.

The wine is pale ruby. Aromas are medium intensity with rose petal, rose hips, red cherry, and licorice notes. Flavors are medium intensity of red cherry, licorice, and tar with medium tannins and high alcohol. This is a medium bodied wine that is well-balanced with a range of aromas & flavors that just work well together. This is a very good wine.

Subsequent notes on this wine from about 8 years ago. Medium ruby red in color. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & plums with earthy/dusty & floral overtones, spices, herbs, tobacco, leather, tea, cocoa, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, cranberries & strawberries with herbs, earthy, spices, minerals, cocoa, mint & a hint of vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well with decanting & extended airing but at 12 years of age, it should continue to develop further with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score.

Story of two wines. On PnP it was light and not showing much - disappointing (similar to my last bottle in 2018). After 2 hours, a different wine - it had opened, softened, and expanded into fine elegant Barbaresco. Nothing exceptional, but better than I was expecting.

decanted 1 hour, in the glass for three. dark cranberry red; reluctant on the nose until about 1.5 hours in, then starting to show off, positively developing; dense & dark red on palate, not fully showing yet but not mean or nasty either; serious core, washboard abs, long.
worth checking in on but in 5 - 8 years will begin singing.
Much more open than last bottle sampled in 1/2020. Medium red with slight brown twinge. Menthol, sweet/sour cherry, herbal (thyme, rosemary), mineral/stone. Medium body, medium+ acidity, medium tannins and very long finish- On palate, sweet/sour cherry, red licorice, tomato paste. Really enjoyed this and great on night 2 as well. 92+

Transparentes, jugendliches und intensives Rubinrot. Explosive Nase, rotbeerig nach Weichsel, Kirsche und Himbeere. Veilchen, Rosen, Marzipan.

2 hr decant, a very food friendly wine, easy to drink with good overall structure. Makes a great companion to dishes with tomato. While not very complex or deep in body it does well. With proper treatment this is going to drink well for a number of years.

Excellent barbaresco with a quite translucent ruby color. The bouquet needs a few minutes to get rid of some funk, but slowly classic Nebbiolo notes emerge and get better with time. Besides violets and sour cherries you get some mineral umaminess. Medium to fullbodied its has a descent length. I guess it’s slowly entering its prime drinking window, where it should nicely develop over the next 1-2 decades.

Decanted for 1.5 hours - tighter than last bottle I had ~ 2 years ago.
Medium red color with slight meniscus. Burgundian nose - cranberry, red licorice, cherry, slight tobacco note (and only with 3+ hours of air sour cherry which lets you know you are not in Burgundy). More fruit driven palate with similar flavor profile to nose. Full body, medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins (clearly not in Burgundy) and very long finish. 91+/- This bottle was not ready for prime time - should score 1-3 points higher with more age.

Floral and some spice on the nose. Hasn’t come together (yet I hope) as the light cherry fruit up front is tart still and overpowered by acidity and the darker back end also has tannins that need a little more softening. I should have known not to open this for at least another 1-2 years. I think it will improve and won’t touch for at least 3 years.

Even after plenty of air, this is still pretty unformed. Even entry level Piedmontese wines (B and B) need to be age 10 before opening. Tight, structured and minerally. This needs another 2-3 years and should reach 15 in fine form. Drink 2021-2015 91+
Drank over 3 hours and paired with grilled lamb chops.
Didn't note color. Sweet cherry, sandalwood/cedar and sour cherry on nose. On palate, sweet cherry, tobacco, earth and red licorice. Fully body, medium+ acidity and very long finish.
Drinking very well now. 93+/- Would buy again.

Decanted for a couple of hours; very light sediment. Drank half a bottle but failed to take notes and returned the wine to the bottle. Day two: Bright medium garnet color. Lovely nose of red fruits, vanilla and herbs, Medium-bodied with red cherries and spices, grainy tannins and bright acids. Medium-to-long finish that persists with the fruit being dominant. Good QPR at under $40, and should drink well for another 5-10 years.

I last had this many years ago and it was a tannic monster. Tannins are still strong today but more drinkable. Overall, still primary and needs a few more years in the cellar and it has the structure to evolve. Definitely hold at least for another few years if you can and it'll get better. If you must drink now, pop and let sit for 1-2+ hours.

Dinner by Grand Cru with Friends: Pleasant nose. Brick in color. In a very good place right now. Nicely balanced with grainy tannins, good red fruit. There is an earthiness with tobacco, lead pencil and maybe a little sage. The finish was medium long in length with the same flavors continuing on.

Wonderful Barbaresco. Decanted then tried soon after. At first unyielding, closed and tannic. But opened remarkably quickly. Best with food but good without. Big but not heavy. Plenty of time left. Recommend two hour decant if drinking now.

This hasn't moved much since my first btl 18 months ago but I loved it then and I still love it....... from April 2015..... "Pretty translucent crimson color. Tart cherry, raspberry, licorice and minerally flavors in exquisite balance. Weightless elegant caressing mouth feel. The tannin and acidity are in perfect harmony with the pretty red fruit. All charm and finesse. What's not to love here! This is exactly what I want from Barbaresco. Better than I had hoped for. Paid $45 but many people have paid $5 less for this according to CT. A great nebbi experience and value by any measure." TONIGHT (11/10/16) .... PnP in a Burg glass.... the cherry flavor seemed a bit riper & sweeter than my first btl and the wine deeper than 18 months ago. Drink or hold. One left.

Ruby to brick coloration. Needs some time but did come around on hour 3 in the decanter. More expressive nose that palate. Smells of candies cherry, iron, and tea. Palate is muted but does have some jammy strawberry, tart/sour cherry, and vanilla. Acid is high and tannin is low. Drinking nicely now but not a ton of depth.

Decanted for 2.5 hours then poured back into bottle through an aerator. This wine needs time - don't waste your money and PNP this one. Dark reddish / black color. Menthol, black cherry, touch of sour cherry on nose. On palate, medium+ body, high acidity & substantial tannins make this more enjoyable with food (paired great with grilled Filet Mignon). Fruit primary - cherry / touch of sour cherry / and some smoky undertones with a very long finish. Should improve - finish was impressive. 92+ with room for improvement.
This wine was extremely smooth and all too easy to finish. Would buy again for CT average price.

Meant to pull the cork of a barbera by the same producer -- oops. Well, as expected this didn't match well with dinner, but it is delicious wine. A big expression of Nebbiolo, but totally correct and not nearly ready. Have 3 more and I'll bury them deep in the storage locker.

Given the earlier notes, opened and decanted this well in advance, thinking that the large amount of air would coax out the fruit. Not so. The wine is light in colour, medium bodied at best. A nose of tar and some red fruits, but on the palate green and lean. I've read the comments about Wine Access recommendations, but also am aware that Tanzer, whose palate I trust, gave this wine 93 points a year ago. What am I missing? Dumb phase? Is the fruit there? Or did they just get it awfully wrong? Very disappointing bottle.
A pure, traditional Barbaresco with aromas of red fruit and flowers. A wine of great refinement and finesse. Nicely balanced, fresh with big tannic structure but without the fruit intensity. A wine's structure which will outlast the fruit, as it's a bit thin for any long-term aging.

Medium ruby red in color. Fragrant, attractive & youthful nose of ripe red fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries and plums with dried herb & floral overtones, spices, earthy, tobacco, leather, tea, slight cedar notes, some cocoa, minerals and a touch of vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of youthful yet well balanced, smooth textured, ripe red fruit flavors of sweet cherries, tart cranberries & fresh strawberries with herbs, earthy, spices, minerals, cocoa, mint & a hint of vanilla. Lingering smooth tangy finish. Drinks quite well and is accessible with decanting and extended airing but will continue to develop further with additional aging.

I feel like Wine Access, normally a reliable source of well-priced wine special deals, took me for a ride on this one. I paid $34 (with case) for this, which sounded from the pro reviews as though it would be a steal for a high-class barbaresco. But though it does have nebbiolo typicity, it does not hold together as a solid wine as a whole. Traditional, but still -- does that mean it has to be tough from entry to finish? Little body, medium to light color, strong new oak, not enough fruit in my opinion to hold out the at least 10 years it will take for the oak/tannin/acid to come into integration. Sorry friends. Didn't enjoy this, and I doubt I will in the future. Anyone want to buy 11 bottles from me?
Retasted 2018. Same rating. 8 years old now. Less unyieldingly tough, yes, but this is not developing into the beauty my nebbiolo-loving friends promised. Still overly dry, now raisiny and even hinting at the dreaded cough-syrup. Still not a fan.

Drinking nicely now but will improve.
Subtle nose with black currant and graphite notes. Long finish.

Very nice, the fruits balance with the acidity to make for a very good food wine. No hurry with this one, improved as the evening progressed.

A rare disappointing Paitin. Disjointed with muted fruit. Strong green pepper. Hope gets better with time.

Pleasing for high toned cherry and strawberry notes, with touches of cinnamon and leather.

Delightful wine--and a great value. Given the age we decanted two hours before dinner.
