Last bottle, and drinking well after a short decant. Definitely on the more mature side, with more dried red fruits and savory flavors, e.g., balsamic. But, still fresh and vibrant. Maybe the best of my six bottles.

Meaty dark fruit bouquet. Very powerful, slightly young wine. Tart undertaste. Good fruit in mid-palate. Medium length aftertaste. Popped cork 4hours before initially tasting. The wine was a little tough. The next day it opened up and projected a rounder, softer profile. The only problem this wine is it should be drunk 5+ years from now.

Could've been bottle variation. Serious modern barolo on opening but it faded fast. A bit backwards. Unsure how itll age. The tannins really do need to soften but I dont know if they will. Growing report for the vintage said warm with uneven ripening and I think that may be in play. Likely shouldve waited another decade.

I really love how This wine is drinking right now. Showing great balance and acidity was actually not as evident on the pallet. Good QPR. Needs decanting.

Forgot to take any detailed notes, but this was a really solid bottle of Barolo. More modern in style, with very lively acidity. Paired well with a variety of foods. In its drinking window for at least a few more years.

This was a knockout wine this time around! Brick red color. Red fruit and licorice on the nose initially, maybe a bit of pine later on. Dark red fruit (black cherry and black raspberry) and hints of tobacco. Extremely long finish that just keeps coming. Fantastic with grilled steaks over arugula and baked sweet potato fries.

- Garnet color - Opened and poured, used Venturi, but probably needs more and a couple hours decant would help. Nothing remarkable on the nose, a little hot. Fruit dominates flavors, black cherries, berries, good balance, smooth tannins with medium long finish.

All this wine needs is time. Everything is in place. Loads of fruit but tons of tannins which need time to resolve. Even with a two hour decant I would say not to open another bottle for a minimum five years (and the score then may be higher).

Enjoyable if not a little light on its feet - or maybe it could be described as smoother than a typical Barolo. I think that’s the vintage speaking more than the site. Still has a hard edge, and could probably benefit from a few more years in the basement. At about 6 hours open, coming alive nicely. Maybe it just needs air?

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of anise, black pepper and spiced sugar plums. Flavors of black berries and black cherries. Bright acidity, firm tannin, full bodied. Drink now with air or continue to hold.

Really in a surprisingly good spot right now. Bright, big and interesting nose or red fruits and some floral and tar-like elements. Good minerailty and vibrancy. Modern, pretty easy drinking.

Dark red with some violet hues, modern style Barolo. Very muted nose, some herbs only a bit of red fruits. Same in the mouth plus some dried/drying tannins which were not so pleasant to taste. Expected more from this top producer. Maybe wait another 5 years?

Certainly enjoyable. A bit softer and "squishier" than typical - 2009 showing itself here. Not as structured and delineated as would be ideal. But also tasty.
Doesn't demand my attention in the same way that great Barolo demands my attention and focus. A sloppy, delicious burger also doesn't demand my attention or require me to engage my higher faculties - but I still enjoy it. Drink over next few years. Heck, have a party if you're so inclined.

Needed some air to open up and still a lot of firm tannins on the back end. But great depth of flavor and freshness to it overall. Would give it a few years to see if those tannins soften a bit more.

Drank over 2 nights. On day one it was big and structured with round black/blue fruit, sharper (but tolerable) tannins, and vanilla. Come day 2 palate had softened but acid had risen. Obvious notes of green tea, tobacco, dark chocolate, and bitter blackberry.

Fantastic. Lighter plum on nose and let decant for over an hour. Smooth finish with touch of bitter dark chocolate. Would purchase again for sure and went quite well with a light asparagus pasta

A study in Barolo vs Brunello tonight as we drank the Pajana after a 2009 Campalto Brunello di Montalcino. The Pajana was bid and brawny in comparison but still elegant in it own presentation. Lots of dark fruit, leather, bright acids, and a really long finish. Lovely now.

Pretty expressive and radiant notes of plum, tobacco, smoke, leather and sweet red fruit. It's pretty full-bodied with medium-high acidity and medium-high tannin that is very silky and polished. Good length. A surprisingly soft and radiant, open Pajana from this warmer vintage (and warmer part of the Ginestra vineyard, lower altitude, SE exposue).

Brisk palate with BIG tannins but not a heavy or weighed-down wine, minimal oak presence, nose of those red kickballs from elementary school. Incredibly long.

(100% Ginestra fruit - as always) Burly, dark, maybe a bit roasted on the nose. Leather, some tar, heat, some orange and minerals. Young and tight on the palate: dark with tart mineral finish. Nose: 4.5+/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5+/20.
