Our last bottle of 6, and they have been quite variable. This is one of the better ones. It has medium weight, with raspberry/redcurrant fruit, and is quite perfumed with a hint of garrigue. The wine now seems to have settled down and is quite elegant.

Opened 3 hours prior. Huge nose that ripe boysenberry compote on the one hand blunt super dusty on the other. On the mouth it’s big but balanced, very fine tannins, note of menthol and raisins, cappuccino. Nice acidity and finish.

Very fragrant, perfumed fruit; light to medium weight with a rather earthy taste on the finish which I find unattractive. Seems fully ready. A rather curious mixture of elegance and rusticity.

Stood up for a week, which is usually plenty for Syrah or Cabernet, but still fine sediment in the last ~3oz which I left in the bottle. The rest of the bottle was very similar to my tasting note from 2/16/23 with lovely meaty aromas, medium bodied, spectacular fresh acidity, and overall showing nice balance and character. 92+ Day 2: Nice balance, superb acidity, excellent food wine.

Wimps Vendredi Gras - Covington; 2/24/2023-2/25/2023 (La Trompette): This was great, reminded my why I used to love Trevallon (I didn't fall out of love with it, but the prices have crept up since i was buying it last...) - this feels like it's moving from the young Syrah dominant phase, to the mature Cab dominant one, but with just enough youthful Syrah kick to keep it interesting. Also learned a lovely heartwarming story about the labels. Really nice wine, and I think it will be even better in a decade or so.

Coravin. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Medium-deep ruby, youthful color; aromatic, melange of blue and black fruits, blueberry, black currant, a bit of musk or game, a bit of mint; palate is medium-full bodied, richly textured but balanced by a racy medium-plus acidity, relatively low 12.5% alcohol, flavors persist through the midpalate; medium-long finish. Exactly what I expect from an alpine Cabernet-syrah blend, superb balance but still with some richness and blend of fruits. Early maturity, enjoyable now. 92 30 minutes air: Really, really nice. Love the texture and the freshness. Not at all bretty like some other notes suggest. Significant cloudy sediment in the last ~3oz of the bottle that could not be filtered. Next time consider standing up the bottle for a prolonged period of time and decanting all at once instead of using Coravin.

A curious wine, with lively fruit, somewhat raw and unstable, and a slightly unclean taste on the finish, not unlike some 2004 Burgundies. Perhaps not a good vintage of this wine, or perhaps it is just the way it is made. Maybe more time will soften it and I will come to appreciate it more, but it is certainly unusual.

This is in a great place - the nose is alpine, mint - keep coming back to shades of evergreen trees. A Beautiful Perfume. The fruit is well balanced with the acidity - tannins are low to non-existent but not surprised. Dry across the palate - almost evaporates. It leaves a long, salivary-gland tugging finish - juicy although the core of the wine is not. Brilliant and borders on other-worldly. A special wine that needs age.

Nice nose of cherries, plums, currants, and tamarind. The palate is a bit lighter bodied with good acidity, sweet cherries, more red berries, and a bit of dark fruit. Nice finish. Very lovely wine, overall!

This was much better than the first bottle, with quite pure, perfumed fruit; rich and with a slightly rustic texture. Certainly a wine to have with food. Should keep well and continue to develop.

We were somewhat disappointed with this. It had rather a murky appearance, lacking clarity, and rather a murky taste, albeit slightly perfumed; also, it seemed light and diffuse. Rather an old-fashioned style, but not in a good way.
Perhaps the wine is still suffering from its journey, having been delivered on the third attempt on 14 January, although I would have thought that 6 weeks’ rest should have been enough.

Decanted for 3 hours. 50% cab, 50% Syrah. Beautiful purple color. As other reviews have said, seriously aromatic, with flowers and purple fruit. Feels light on the tongue, showing a bit of cassis from the cab, but with a savory finish. Well balanced and drinking well now, built for quite a few more years. Hopefully the family continues to produce wines at the same level after the recent passing of Éloi Dürrbach, cause this is wonderful

Decanted for 30 minutes. Lovely wine. Vraiment Trevallon, like no other wine. Beautiful deep nose. A somewhat higher toned and lifted expression on the palate, but with some air it gets a bit more grounded. Good now, maybe great in few more years still?

Wow was this good. The nose is just full of herbes de Provence and lavender. There’s no end to this nose. It’s so amazingly balanced and fresh. Red fruit, lemon peel, just great.

Already drinking well! Rather on the lighter side (12.5%), I loved the sappiness of this wine. Earthy notes with dark fruits and tobacco. Not sure this is for the long term ageing but this for sure will provide a lot of pleasure in the next 10 years.

Deep ruby colour, almost black at the core. Fascinating nose with an intriguing mix of aged Bordeaux (dust, wet cellar, blackcurrant, and iron) and aged Northern Rhone (cherries, sweet raspberries, iron and wet stone). Full bodied, quite rough tannins, but also a lot of sweet blackcurrant fruit backed up by tones of vanilla and minerals (iron, crushed rock). Long, fresh aftertaste that dries out a bit at the end. Has probably lost some of its primary fruit, and is clearly best with food (red meat) at this stage in the evolution. Perfect to drink now, but will keep well for at least five more years. Very good wine from a difficult vintage.

Drank at Materia Prima winebar after the Marc Sorrel Hermitage tasting. The wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon 50% Syrah, 24 months in barriques/foudres. The wine is showing clear red color. The wine needs time to open up. The wine in the nose at first shows strong vegetal profile, then turns into more spicy, earthy, bready and toast notes, with some black olives. The wine shows power in the palate, firm tannins, red and black fruit, herbal notes, black olives, 12.5%alcohol a thin Brett layer, medium body, elegant but powerful, medium acidity, medium to long mineral finish. Outstanding quality offering complexity but I would be careful choosing who to offer this

Long cork in perfect condition. Decanted an hour and half before drinking, almost no sediment. Dark ruby, no sign of aging. IN the beginning the nose is almost like a northerns Rhone, marked by syrahtones like raw meat, leather and cherries. After a while it opens up with warmer tones of provencal herbs, some dried fruit, as well as warm earth/dust. Full bodied, fine tannins, very good acidity. All in all, the mouth is extremely well balanced giving an almost light impression although the wine is clearly quite "big". We were all amazed to know that the wine only keeps 12.5 % alcohol, an aspect that may explain its almost elegant impression in the finish. Long, savoury, full of herbs and cherry-fruit. An extremely well made wine. In the beginning of its mature lifetime, so no hurry in drinking up. Will keep for at least a decade, and will probably improve over at least the next five years.

Way too young - which I knew when I opened but thought that I could get by w/ a big decant. It's a bit disjointed at this point and the sweetness from the fruit is off balanced on day one. On day two, it comes together much more but really just needs more cellar time... I think it will be a great wine w/ another five or so years more in the cellar..

Really good young Trevallon - slightly barnyardy / animale, lovely refined cabernet backbone - really good stuff. Not sure if Trevallon has moved to a younger maturing style of wine making or this is just a particularly delicious example but - stonking stuff! Bought half a dozen after this...
