Enjoyed with the 2011 OP&OH, the Rosehill is brighter, fresher and more youthful in colour. Fresher again on the nose with berry, soil and Hunter earth subdued under glossy Shiraz fruit, still a touch primary. Long generous finish. Keep for 2026 if your serious but lovely now. 18.

Bright ruby red colour. Soft and subdued nose with a slight green character on the nose. Great fruit with perfect body and mouthfeel - round, soft and smooth finishing with a mellow, silky dry finish. Great match with slow-cooked beef ribs.

Medium dark red colour with lovely tears on the glass. Simple clean Hunter shiraz fruit nose. Light with a medium dry finish and lingering red fruit. Nice mouthfeel without being too heavy. Refeshing with beautiful light shiraz fruit. Very welcoming. Drinking beautifully with more time yet in the bottle. Decantered for 1 hour under another COVID lockdown.

Graphite, smoke and a touch of green that promises much on the nose. The palate has sour cherry, spice and a hint of tar on the back palate. The acid matches the tannins quite well. The wine is certainly in its drinking window right now. A lighter and elegant expression of Hunter shiraz and none the worse for it.
Mid-red colour with a slight purple tinge. Light and spicy nose. Light body with a lingering dry finish. Typical of an aged Hunter shiraz. Very comfortable and easy drinking. Decanted for 45 minutes. An evening with a simple BBQ on a warm summer’s evening.

Agree with CAMWHEELER’s 2017 review. Typically lighter and fragrant Rosehill on the nose followed by a bright core of mainly blue fruits and spice on the palate. The aftertaste is satisfyingly prolonged. I tasted the 2018 Rosehill last week which is in the vineyard mould but with greater intensity on the palate.

I was not impressed with the previous bottles however this bottle is right in the zone. Must be a timing issue from release. Rosehill is usually a defining wine but I have previously had doubts about the 2011 vintage, however tonight it has finally hit its straps. Positively singing. Great flavors, excellent balance and scrumptious mouth feel. Regrettably this was my last bottle. Possibly 93.
Lighter colour, translucent crimson. Aroma of light forest floor, wood chips, truffle and a bit hot. 13.5% alc, noticeable, but not in a bad way. Definitely needs some breathing time. Blueberry, blackberry, milk chocolate. Light body, medium finish. Silky chocolaty tannin, very well integrated, light oak, delicate acidity. I think delecate probably describes the wine as a whole, beautiful flavour but light. Could be easily overtaken by food, I’m making sure I have my 2 glasses before I have my curry for dinner otherwise it will be completely lost. Can still develop further over the next few years but not something I would put aside for a decade.
GMs - The Blending Sessions: Raspberry, cherry, licorice and earth. The palate has some intensity to the red fruit but it remains quite fresh and fine. Seems like a nice wine that could get better with further time.

Bright vibrant red, almost pinot clarity (but a little darker). Strawberries, red cherries and cigar black pepper and dirt jumped out upon opening. Decanted for an hour and still had the same nose after.
Taste is similar to the nose with the addition of some fine silky tannins, with everything very well integrated. Good acidity as well that I've found in most Hunter reds from this vintage.
Drank another glass to finish off the bottle after vacuum sealing it overnight, some fruits had fallen off, however still very nice and very drinkable.
Typically good, Medium bodied, Hunter Shiraz.

The lightish colour this has is fairly typical of Hunter Shiraz. Possessing a reasonably perfumed nose of mainly spirity red fruits, some earthiness and a touch of leather. A little one dimensional on the palate at this point in time. The medium to light bodied red plum and cherry flavours tend to disappear rather quickly with not much linger. The back palate has some chocolate oak and pronounced tannin. This needs time and plenty of it. I expect this will open up considerably in the years to come. Potential is there for a 90+ score later on.

Somewhat muted nose but altogether a modern, pretty Hunter shiraz. I really think it's a golden age for Hunter shiraz, especially at Mouth Pleasant where they are back to producing wines of balance with restrained alcohol.
This wine is for drinking while you wait for their more concentrated, and more expensive, wines.
13.5% ABV, sealed with screw cap.

Hunter Valley - 6 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley): {screwcap, 13.5%, A$40} Rich, youthful with spicy plums and blackberries. Little oak, medium gritty tannins, medium-bodied; it has spice, pepper and earth flavours, and a medium length finish. Just doesn’t quite make it somehow; certainly not for the price premium over the High Paddock bottling. Better off spending the extra and going for the OP&OH.

Wine-Ark boys on tour - Hunter Valley 2014 - Day 2 (Hunter Valley): Black pepper over berry and a certain greenness as well as spice on the nose. The palate is juicy with flavours of black pepper and berry, tight chewy tannin on the medium plus length. Needs quite a bit of time to calm down.

Deep purple with narrow rim. Pronounced youthful nose typical of Hunter Shiraz, savoury pencil lead, red currant, blueberry. Medium acid, body, alcohol, with medium (+) intensity of berry and cherry and a medium (+) length. Drink now, but will definitely improve with further age. Screwcap.

Light, bright red colour. Light earthy nose. Light body with a simple silky dry finish. Not a complex wine and typical of an old style Hunter shiraz.

Australian Wine Unearthed Public Tasting (Sydney, Australia): Earth, perfume, pepper and licorice. There is depth to the fruit but at the same time it shows admirable restraint. Very good.
