Tasted alongside the 2022 Chery. What age does to this wine. The nose is almost Burgundian. A bouquet of toffee caramel, butter, pear and stone fruits. Soft and smooth on the palate, understated richness. White pepper, fennel notes. A knockout wine. I’m beginning to believe Perret is the best grower in Condrieu, the wines just age so unbelievably well. At home with Carsten and Olga.

Tasted vis-avis the Chanson, this is certainly a cut above - and cut in a more traditonal Condrieu-style with plenty of rich, chewy fruit, exotic notes - a soft approach. AD loved it - as did I. Even PB admitted, that this was the better wine on the day. #PB

Tasted vis-a-vis the 2011, this has a more classic tone with plenty of exotic fruit going on, yet tightly wound with a mineral core. No signs of aging what so ever, plenty of freshness, a layered wine, that goes on and on. #Kandestederne

Floral, perfumed on the nose with concentrated yellow stone fruit and some exotic fruit notes. Good weight on the palate - slightly waxy and fat, some minerality, slightly bitter but impressively long finish. Drink or keep. 91-93

Virtually unchanged; creamy with exotic fruit, very classic Condrieu, very long, very balanced with a hint of acidity at the end. Minerals here, but it is a smooth wine as of now. Will have a long life.

This was my first taste of Condreiu and it did not disappoint. What an amazing wine! Most of all, this tasted like Mead—viscous texture and strong honey on the palate—but there are lots of other flavors present as well: ginger, nutmeg, white peach, dried apricot, sultanas, honeysuckle, meyer lemon, minerals, and white pepper on the very long and attractive finish. I like the oily texture, which was more pronounced on day 2. The flavors are intense without being overbearing. Incredible!

Floral nose, white peach, nutmeg and citrus. Elegant on the palate, light and understated for a Condrieu. There's notes of peach, apples and citrus. Sleek and focused. A great Chery from Perret.

Sunday lunch with the Wine-Ark boys (Frank's place in Matraville): Spiced, rich, apricot, ginger, smells like it's going to be broad to the point of flabbiness on the palate. And in the mouth, yup, broad and quite oily textured with flavours of apricot and ginger here as well. finishes slightly warm and spicy with touches of almost white pepper. shows quite good typicity for me. Kind of yummy.

Second time having this. Remains probably the best smelling white wine I've ever had- intoxicatingly beautiful white flowers, rose and orange blossoms, moreso on day 2 and at just below room temp. Crystal clear/clean on the palate similar flavors of orange creamsicle and floral honey, medium acid, some viognier oiliness, some oak/lees-iness. The flower power may have faded slightly from last year, and given way to a little more oak presence than would be ideal, so I think these should probably be drank soon, though I don't have experience with any condrieu older than 5 years so am not confident in that view.

Had to open this next to the Cowhorn Spiral 36 rhone blend. Followed the same profile with pears for days, tropical fruit, honey and honeycomb, a touch of mulch, expansive on the palate and didn't budge over 3-4days.

Loud, ultra floral bouquet. This, along with the fruity, waxy, and rounded mouthfeel put my mind to north Italian Friulano, my double-blind guess. One of the least oaky, least 'hot' Condrieu wines that I have tasted. Delicious!

Wine, Steak, and Olympics (Home (Noe st)): Medium yellow with a hint of gold. Fruit loops! Medium plus intensity canned peach, peach yoplait (hint of lactic/sweet vanilla - slight oak?), faint detergent/linalool, hint of overripe papaya. Dry, medium body, slightly elevated alcohol 13.5% (correct!) - restrained for condrieu. Viscous and a bit oily in the mouth. Medium minus acid, elevated bitterness. moderate finish. Correct and pretty good - but not much mineral energy. Extremely bitter. 8.5

Yellow-golden in colour, bright and glowing. Notes of flowers, ripe yellow stone fruit, honey, crushed stones. Very open and expressive. On the palate very aromatic, a little waxy, spicy, slightly bitter. Impressively persistent; mineral and intense. 92-94

In a very relaxed stage, soft, understated class. A fantastic Chery, difficult not to just open and enjoy right now. Reminds me of our visit chez Perret last week. At home with Gert.

Such an incredible nose- 7 parts white flowers and roses, 2 parts honey, 1 part creamsicle. Didn't get any less captivating over a couple hours- best smelling wines I've had in a while. Nice peach and honey on the palate carried by medium acidity, then you are washed over by the gorgeous flowers again, retronasally I guess. Touch of oak that you notice on the finish, adds a small amount of creaminess, not at all overdone. worth the $60. I really need to try more condrieu

A very young showing, needs decanting. Wonderful, floral nose with a mixture of white/green fruit and citrus. A bit of banana on the palate, very mineral, just a tad of heat. I think this will need another 2 years to settle down and show its full potential.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #099; France: Northern Rhône, Viognier (By CvR): This wine is made of 60 years old vines which are grown on a slope with a south southeastern exposure. The yield is 35 hectoliter per hectare. It stays on the lees for 12 months and is raised in barrels of which 50% is new. In the enormously expressive bouquet there are ripe yellow tropical fruits like apricots, mango and peach. Same on the palate. Also pear and some salty minerals. A really beautiful, concentrated and also refined and complex wine. Ready now and it can age a few years as well.

Medium-full bodied, a nice honeyed straw in color, and just fantastic.
The wine has such a powerful perfume of orange blossoms, honey, ripe white peach pulp, and vanilla- I almost just wanted to smell the wine all night, it was so intoxicatingly exotic. Upon tasting the wine, I got ripe white peaches, acacia honey, and an interesting floral note, I am just not quite sure how to put it- but I enjoyed every bit of it. I had this alongside the Cass: Rockin' One, and I have to say the Cass was utter garbage compared to this. I highly recommend this wine.

Pale yellow. Rich and flowery on the nose, with some spicy hints. In mouth, youthful with a very clear fruit and minerality driven expression. Full bodied and elegant, with low acidity and hints of peaches, nectarines, mature lemons, fresh apricots and some small violets. Great length! Drinks well today, but with some more time, this wine has so much to deliver! Excellent!
