Wine meet – Chambertin @ Lars: Mature nose with notes of sous bois and mushrooms. Mature red-fruits. Classy and great balance. My last bottle and have had better bottles of it so it might be fading slowly from here.

Popped and poured. Sweet cherry aromas paired with citrus and a slightly earthy character. The palate is lovely, sweet and caressing, not a lot of acid but some gently gripping tannins that linger on the finish.

Perfect bottle. Ruby color, blue and rind washed cheese, sandalwood on the nose. Blackberry, cassis, red licorice, sandalwood, savory herbs and hints of orange peel on the palate. Still retaining some grippy tannins.

Virtual Jadot Tasting with Frederic Barnier (Zoom): 99/01/02/03/05 vertical. Apparently the cork didn't have a perfect seal and the wine showed it. Just a bit more tired with slight oxidation showing. 88 point bottle, but should be far better.

Louis Jadot Virtual Tasting with Frédéric Barnier (Planet Earth): In 05/03/02/01/99 vertical. Opened and split 5 ways 4 hours before tasting. Cork fully soaked through and broke during extraction, so an imperfect cork, hence an imperfect wine. Slightly more brown and advanced than I would prefer. Still, a very enjoyable wine, but not in context of the other great vintages in this flight.

A quartet of Jadot Clos St. Jacques (96,01,02,07). This was a nice grouping. The 96 had brown edges, beautiful fruit, and really showed the 96 vintage well. The 01 was classic, somewhat understated, and lovely. The 02 was lush and delicious, and in the end seemed to make it at or close to the top of everyone's ranking. Ultimately my #1. The 07 was fresh, with young inviting fruit. No surprises when the vintage was revealed. All in all a very good showing.

Double blind tasting. Brief note. Nose and palate are feral, meaty, irony, and quite sappy with earthy sour red cherry and dark damp soil. Midpalate is full without any gaps and a lovely fine grained texture that shows its masculinity in a charmingly rustic way. Long complex finish showcases the animale and iron qualities beautifully. Guessed 05 Cazetiers for what its worth....4 years late and a vineyard over

Pure dark red fruits on the nose, it's somewhat austere despite an hour or 2 of air. Medium full body with a clean but somewhat short finish (given the quality of the vineyard). It's my 3rd bottle, tannins have softened since the last one, but the top 1er/GC type of complexity and finish just isn't quite evident here. I'll let my last bottle have a year or 2 more and see how it evolves.

Still young, structured, and a touch austere, but this is starting to unfurl. The nose is very lovely, with pure and deep-toned Pinot fruit. The dark-fruited, medium-bodied palate is rich and deep but still shows a lot of structure with grippy tannins and some wood. This needs another 5 years.

This took a few hours to get going aromatically, but it was lovely, cool vintage Gevrey. Mix of soil tones and crisp red fruit, very elegant and a classy, long finish. Nicely done, will wait on my next bottle for at least a few years but certainly drinking well with a sufficient decant

Classy wine, but ideally would hold for another 5 years before trying another. I think 2001s rarely have lush fruit and their acidity often prevents them from expressing a primary fruit character. So wait and benefit from the secondary development. Has upside from my current rating as long as you enjoy mature red Burgundy.

Oh Jadot, so much potential in this...and a very good result but nothing great despite the terroir and that underrated? vintage. Lovely cherry coke colour. Reduced masculine and robust nose at first followed by a complex yet shy aromatic of white truffles, flowers and animal fur. Earthy also. Clearly better on the palate, plenty Clos St Jacques here, full expression, acid and velvet mouthfeel. Wonderful retro nasal with all you were expecting. First bottle of 12 - bought on discount, straight from the domaine. Certainly still young; and very much better on the second day. Initially it seems lean and uninviting, but give it time, and it opens up, and there is actually quite some fruity pinot-body here alongside the tell-tale rustic, garrigue like gevrey character. Will keep, effortlessly.

A year since we last tried it and split us in 2 wrt its quality. A better or at least more consistent bottle this time, but still split us in opinion with 89 from Andreas vs a 92 from Nicol. Colour shows a bit of age but a bit clowdy and dusty. On the nose is full on gevrey, with meaty notes, spice, intermixing with mostly dark fruits. A touch of earthy notes too. On the palate it is where we disagreed with Andreas finding it a touch lacklustre and light for the cru, while Nicol liked its style and elegance. No rating here.

Lettskyete, lyse rødtoner. Sval frukt og deilig kjølig pinotnese. Relativt slank og stram fortsatt, noe pepper, god syre og merkbare tanniner. Trenger fortsatt tid.

Flott vin.

This was written from the last ounce or so from the bottle. Open about 4 hours. The predominant aromatic is spice, with some high tones cherry and herb, perhaps even some light pepper. Mushroom, some leathery tannin, dried sour cherry. Looks like it has a good life ahead, as the acid in the finish gives it some push.

Not bad, but notable for how much lighter and paler it is in comparison to all the other Jadot CSJ's today ('93, '97, '99, '01, '02, '04, '05) - the difference is enormous. Maybe its balance will take it somewhere but it's hard to imagine it can reach the same depths.

Lettskyete, lyse rødtoner. Sval frukt og deilig kjølig pinotnese. Relativt slank og stram fortsatt, noe pepper, god syre og merkbare tanniner. Trenger fortsatt tid.

Flott vin.

Light in colour and felt overly sweet and thin. will reserve judgement for another bottle

Quite a strong sense of secondary aromas. In my opinion dark berries mixed with some mushroom notes. Quite excellent.
