This was nice. Rose petals and tar. Bitter dark chocolate with ripe berries. Paired well with Sunday gravy and finishs strong. Bitterness needs some time to calm down. Decent Barolo and happy with the price point.

I bought this years ago when I was starting to learn about Italian wines, and...uh...I’m glad it wasn’t too expensive, because it drinks like very oaky Nebbiolo, and that’s very not great.

Birthday dinner served along with a Turley Frederick Zin and dinner of mushroom risotto and grilled chicken. Went very nicely with the dinner. Good cherry flavors, dry tannins giving a leather finish, good acidity. This did not stand out on it's own like the Turley could but very nice with the meal.

Love the earthy leather nose with some floral elements. Well structured and balanced. The tannins are manageable and the fruit is concentrated. Not especially complex, but in a good place now and likely to improve for another 3-5 years.

Decanted 1 hour, returned to bottle and left open for 5 hours. Brick in color, sweet cherry fruit and some strawberry, tobacco and mineral finish. Tannins very, very present.

Great concentration with roses, tar, mushrooms, cherry and licorice notes. Long dry finish. Lots of finesse and power in reserve. Great now and will last another 4-7 years.

nice ruby color with bricking+. nose and palate of balsamic strawberries, dusty tannins on the finish but mellow enough not to be dominant or intrusive. in a great place now - drink up!

Dark red color. Slow O for 90 minutes. This was quite tight, not showing a lot on the nose, a little alcohol shows initially, wood, cedar-like, dried spice, briary, muted fruit. The palate gives a bit over an hour but still shrouded, rustic, dry with modest grip, medium body, tobacco, hint of anise, tarragon, woody. Needs more time.

I was expecting or at least hoping for a bit more... this was definitely delicious juice and nice bouquet, both opening up quickly after decant... but this just didn't have the structure I expected and seemed to get flabby(at least for Barolo) after about an hour

An ultra-bone dry Barolo. Takes 2-3 hours to open up sufficiently to enjoy. Odors and tastes of burnt cherries. A somewhat monochromatic wine, but fascinatingly unlike any other Barolo I've tasted. Will likely benefit from few more years' aging.

Still wound a little tight. Decanted for a few hours drank a glass, rebottled and Decanted again the next day. Flavor profile was more developed on The second day. Long tobacco finish. This still needs time.

Mixed Wines Offline (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Dark red color. Decanted 3 hours. Drank glass over 90 minutes. The nose is still tight, though it gradually offers up some promise with earth, leather, anise, cherry, and florals. The palate is tight too and bogged down in oak and tannins, sour cherry, anise, spice. I agree with Wineglas that this has potential with long term cellaring.

Although I do not agree with the WS 94 pt rating and their tasting notes, I find this wine quite enjoyable, even fun! Popped and decanted through a vinerator and filtered funnel, the poured and consumed with a meal of grilled salmon and sweet potato. Garnet, semi dense, with medium body and bountiful fruit (although not a "bomb" by any measure). Well integrated tannins supporting a nice balance of fruit and acidity while keeping the heat quite throughout. Lovely silky texture giving the wine finesse, but very little complexity or detail. I liked the wine's overall harmony of flavor but felt a little cheated with the short finish. You will find cherries, leather, smoke and spice with this wine.

Although not particularly complex, impressive, or varietally correct, this was still quite a balanced wine, and I think time could be good to it. Initially fine tannins bloomed with air and became a bit more forceful, but a pleasant quaff.

Weekly tasting group #063; Italy: Nebbiolo (@ CvR): Beautiful bouquet with rose buds, animals, tobacco, herbs, pepper and autumn impressions. On the palate ripe red berries, a touch of sweetness, beautiful acidity and soft tannin. A full bodied and harmonious wine, already a pleasure and a good future. 90+

Decent Borolo, could use more time to age. Reasonable for the price point, but recall the 2008 as being a better vintage than the 2007. Requires several hours of decanting to open.
Fair balance, but probably too early.
