Having recently tried the 2011 Syrah ( An exceptional 93 from us) we had to try their Grenache too. Same cellar too at the excellent Compagnie des Vins Supernaturels, Paris. The Grenache as pretty and welcoming as it is lacks the presence and depth on the palate and is very soft, light and has its best days behind it. That been said ever the old world style of wine as is their Syrah. Pretty 90 and drink sooner than later.

Nice bright savory red fruit that paired nicely with butternut squash ravioli with cripsy sage in brown butter. Yummy stuff is the technical term I think. LOL

Excellent showing... Very youthful, surprisingly big and ripe for the ABV. Rich red and black fruits, taut structure, generous tannins. Definte food oriented wine with many more years of development ahead of it.

Coravin glass pour with lots of leftovers (roast herbal chicken, pork sausages with fennel, spicy pepperoni). Wine was more traditional, with black and red berries, but lacked pizazz. Perhaps needs time? Wine is quite puzzling. $20 close-out of last bottles.

Coravin taste. Lots of red berries but not that complicated. Seems hard to pair with food. Maybe bottle shock right after arrival? Try again later. $20 sale price on last bottles.

My last of these. Opened y/day. Drinks with some tannin still, alongside some cherry candy, red apple and some lingering spice in the finish. No fade here, hanging right in.

Lovely, light, effervescent grenache. Highly fragrant - brilliant red fruits and flowers. Light in the mouth, almost zippy with bright acid and lingering minerality.

Opened this yesterday. Boy, it showed with some dried, cherry fruit and lots of acid. Really kind of austere and absent of any fleshy, CA fruit to brighten it. I saved another glass for today, where it shows much better. Still the same hard cherry candy core with very bright acidity and now finally the watermelon notes and light raspberry that I have seen in past bottles. I have to think that if this wine was put up against some of the champion grenaches of CA, it would be a stark contrast. I enjoy this style, as it fits my preference for dialed in wines. Juicy, lean and still quite youthful even after a day being open so my advice for a drink window would be wait a couple years and then enjoy. This wine is in no danger of fading or getting dull.

Outstanding bottle of Grenache. A great example of the varietal. A real keeper. If I can hunt down more of it, I will buy it. I was surprised at the quality given that the grapes are Sonoma which I do not consider a great source of Rhone varietals, but this was really good.

- Ruby color - Medium Ruby in the glass and very aromatic. Light but sweet red fruits, asian spice, and an elegant lightness not found in any other American grenache. Reallly intriguing. I don't think most afficianados would identfy this as 100% grenache.

Very delicate, fantastic fruit clarity, so well balanced even at a young state. Fantastic quality, but even so a hard price point to swallow if encouraged for more. One of the best American grenache renditions available.

Light garnet color and good sparkling clarity. There is a strong bright cherry flavor combined with gentle baking spice. Juicy, lean, and a hint of jolly rancher watermelon. The lack of legs indicates this is a low alcohol wine and probably from a cool vintage. Steve guessed the produce correctly, well done.

I really enjoy this wine and this is the second bottle I have now drank, the previous being last summer. There is a purity with this wine and it comes across as balanced, clean--this is why I enjoy it so much, it seems transparent. Just pure red fruit of watermelon, cherry, sweet raspberry and juicy. With about 4 hours of air, some structure appears too, in the form of some astringent tannin, which suggests good life ahead. No traces of wood, no heat, no density, all good. Bought 2 more of these for the cellar this week, probably should have bought 4!

Decanted two hours. Bright vibrant pink hued Kool Aid red in the glass - and a bit cloudy. Love it. The nose was a tad muted but sported light tart cranberry, touches of green olive and radish with nice saline elements as well as some light baking spice and golden raisins. Very unique nose. With time it showed more complexity and mouth feel. The finish was in balance though nice and tart - in the best way. Lower alcohol was pleasant and the acidity was present giving the wine energy and making it more sessionable. Another winner from Wind Gap and Pax. A great line up this vintage as a whole.

Birthday dinner at Ink in W. Hollywood. Bright and full nose of strawberry, raspberry and herbs. Palate has light-to-medium body with loads and loads of herby red fruit. Some minerals too. There appears to be minimal manipulation or oak - very natural with good energy and verve. Well crafted and tasty.

Nice bottle. FMIII opened this the night before and it was rolling along beautifully. Kicking off elegant aromas but I was wrestling with exact notes. Raspberry, strawberry, and dry herbs were what popped into my mind after starring at it for a moment. Good balance of fruit, stems, acid, and mouthfeel.

I bought 2 of these through the mailer, no previous experience with it but I buy a fair amount of Wind Gap so this was an easy choice. Bottle lists alc at 13.7%, made in 2 concrete eggs and 4 barrels. Last night, I opened and enjoyed without a decant. Dug the juicy, herby strawberry flavors on this wine. Mixed with that is the light frame, juicy and fresh. The remark someone else made about "not messed with" is really spot on. To me, this tastes pure and nicely balanced. Will see if air and a light chill has any further impact but for an open and enjoy perspective, works great.....a day later, what I missed about enjoying this wine yesterday are two additional aspects, both acidity and cherry/watermelon. They both work together to really bolster the wine's core, along with the strawberry hard candy and some minerally tannin even in the finish tonight. One last thing worth pitching into this note...there is a cool, minty, indian spice like note on the aromatic which I really dig. All in, I got no budget this month but I need to pick up more of this, as this wine is a fine example of balance, flavor and light color.

Black current and wood notes on the nose, with some pepper and roasted herbs, and some candied cherries at the end. Rich and juicy on the palate, with dark fruit and herbs, some spice wood on the mid-palate, and a nice cherry finish.

Very interesting interpretation of Grenache. Very light color with almost rose type fruit. Strawberry, watermelon rind, jalapeño, white pepper. Very dry with an intensity from the tannin and acidity giving life to the wine. Very nice.
