As prior mentions this has aged well, maybe slightly past prime. Very smooth with well aged blackberry and plum fruit flavors. Dark fruit nose with faint licorice note; same on the finish with more licorice.

Bought 8b for 9/b about three years ago from a local gourmet produce stand that has started to offer wine. Opted not to decant--turned out ok. Dark purple color, fragrant (mature red fruit, some plum), very good mouthfeel. Delicious, though mismatched with grilled salmon (wanted red, tired of PN match)--noticed that it brought out fishiness. Worked better with brown rice and grilled zucchini. Poor pairing my fault. I've noticed that the Zaccagnini MdA ages well: I've enjoyed '05-'07 within the last year or two. Stored vertically in a cool, dark basement since purchase once I realized that the Cantina had switched to synthetic closure. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

Bought 6b for 9/b from a local "gourmet" produce stand six months ago. No decant, no sediment. Very good color; fragrant red fruit nose; very good mouthfeel, some richness. Good match for chicken Parmesan and fancy meatballs. Stored vertically (synthetic closure) in a cool, dark basement since purchase. Wines At Our Table; August 23rd 2015; 8/17/2015-8/23/2015: Dark ruby color with cherry, violet, vanilla and a hint of tar aromas. On the palate, it's light-bodied and harmonious with vibrant acidity, dusty tannins and ample fruit. It shows easy dark cherry, vanilla, and a hint of plum flavors with a satisfying sweet finish.

Ruby in color with pronounced aromas of baked blackberry, plum, black licorice and iron. On the palate - medium to full bodied with high acidity and chewy tannins. Flavors of red and black berries, cherry, orange zest, cocoa, vanilla and a hint of coffee. Finish dropped off quickly. Oddly watery finish with all the big flavors on the mid-palate. Good wine, nonetheless. An enjoyable and lively wine. Affordable to boot at around $14.

medium body, sweet tannins, and ripe fruit upfront. fresh acid with a tart but moderately grippy finish.
tangy blue fruit candy upfront, whiff of brett blows off quickly. impression of sweetness upfront that turns a bit tart on the tail end. hint of acidic coffee on the nose but pretty fruit forward.
Fun wine that's sure to please but not a standout at the price point.

Full bodied and not shy this is a hearty but nicely developed red that doesn't need oak to have a personality. Good acid and modest tannins this was a great match to ribs. Be aware that it has a plastic cork so not a wine suitable for aging. Buy and enjoy soon or move on to a later vintage.

Medium purple color. Like the prior reviewer, I do get ripe blueberries on the nose. A nice surprise in dead of winter. Smells fresh but a bit medium minus on nose.
On palette, a lot stronger than I expected based upon nose, which suggested something better. I feel alcohol burn, and taste more sour and bitter than something fruit specific. I'm actually going to say the fruit might not have been ripe enough.
Personally, don't feel the wine is balanced. The packaging was kind of cool but wouldn't buy again.
Maybe as the bottle warms up it'll taste more pleasant??
A delicious and impressive value for sure. Pleasing dark fruit but there is a savory complexity and tannic edge to it as well that rival a wine two or three times its price. Very well-made.

Agree with others who found the 2011 improved again from 2010, which was a bit of a disappointment after the 2009. Classic Italian flavors in early accessible everyday version. Agree it is a good party wine, and have given it as a low end gift with that nice touch of the decorative wine twig around the collar.

Deep red. Plum, cherry, vanilla, brown sugar. Fairly simple, dark fruit, plum, a bit thin mid-palate and finish with grippy tannin. For $12, you shouldn't expect anything more than a decent drink, and that is exactly what this delivers.

This wine surprised me...for a $12 bottle of wine it was pretty good. Unlike other low end wines this one did not give me a headache and it was very smooth. The other plus is the pretty bottle it comes in, which makes it nice to bring to a party. Definitely a fling not a relationship , no depth, no character, no substance, but I wasn't expecting it lol (:

Hey, this is pretty nice stuff for $11.50. We found the '11 to be a bit more subtle than the '10, but we enjoyed both. This '11 began to show some complexity after being aerated for about an hour. This wine would be a good choice for light to medium dishes, or a good TV show while bumming on the couch. It's not the biggest, most complex Monte, of course, but not every wine you open has to cost a ton of cash to be enjoyable. We'll buy this one again.

It's so easy to overlook this ubiquitous offering as it seems to be everywhere. Finally brought a bottle home and glad I did. Cherries, plums, new leather, wet earth, herbs and spices on the nose. Fresh, mid-to-full-bodied, flavors to match, with a nice acidic backbone, and a savory, chamoy element that leads into a mineral-tinged finish. Made for food.

Medium-boded, fruity but not a fruit bomb. Not complex but sound. This one will please most at a gathering; those new to wine or not so new. Paired well with food and was great on its own.

Darker and fruitier than I remember from past vintages, but the QPR is consistent with my recollection. Took 45 minutes or so to develop, showing just a touch of oak in an harmonious and agreeable form. I often overlook this brand in the quest for a new everyday wine and I shouldn't.

No notes taken. Red fruits and wood on the nose. Dry, high acidity, medium(-) tannin, medium alcohol amd body. Medium developing flavors of dried cherries, thyme, herbs, mineral. Rustic, medium length with bitter tannin in the finish.

Lite garnet red. Peppery with lots of vanilla and mild sweetness. It could have easily passed for a Spanish Rioja cerca 2004 or so - it is much younger than the flavors and color would suggest.

Surprisingly good! Clean, straight forward pasta wine. Excellent QPR.

significantly more structure than I would suspect from a wine of this pedigree, or lack thereof. I liked it

Medium body, very pleasant, smooth, not particularly challenging or complex, good with lamb , not heavy meats and good go with spicy seafood.

Fruit forward, dry wine, with a smooth finish. Superb pairing with a pasta with red sauce, like a marinara.

Lite garnet red. Peppery with lots of vanilla and mild sweetness. It could have easily passed for a Spanish Rioja cerca 2004 or so - it is much younger than the flavors and color would suggest.
