The Travellers Club, London (The Travellers Club, London): Fresh and bright full on energy and really this does not feel at all 9 years old. So much brightness in it , mineral, light citrus and proper structure. Stone fruits, steely cold feel too and frankly this punches way over its humble village level and will aged happily for another 5+ years. An impressive 91-92

This light golden Chardonnay was tasted over a two-hour period in double-blind fashion from a well-cellared bottle that had been popped and poured. Improving during the first 30 minutes in glass, it revealed itself to be an impressive village-level offering. White peach, citrus, jasmine, coriander and wet stone aromas are followed by similar flavors on a fresh, medium-bodied palate. The oak and alcohol (13%) are nicely integrated, there is no hint of oxidation and the middle is dense. Closing with good length, this is drinking beautifully at this point. Comparably cellared bottles should provide pleasure for another five years or more. Drink now-2027.

Transparent yellow-straw. Medium-to-medium-light body, medium-to-medium-plus acid. Lemon citrus, good sea salt, some richness, and white cherry. Refreshing mineral finish. Drank this outdoors at a seafood restaurant in Paris on a 100 degree day, and it could not have gone better.

Sliced apples, lemon curd, some smoke and a touch of popcorn. Elegant, structured and with pronounced acidity. 2014 was a glorious year for Chardonnay in Burgundy and with a producer like Etienne Sauzet there’s nothing you can do wrong. The Puligny is beautiful today but easily will develop over the next 5-10 years. Drinks more like a 1er Cru but also costs as much.

The wine nicely opens up after a couple of hours. It shows fresh fruit and deep intensity. Lots of delightful citrus fruits. Very young and fresh. Lots of concentration. Very nice balance between acidity and body. Would like to store my remaining bottles for at least a couple of years before trying one again. Very good.

Tastes a little understated at first but then Intensely citric, oranges, limes and some peaches too, vanilla and some cinnamon on the nose. Strong acidity, mouth watering. Steely then some toasty and sweet notes. Probably a bit young still but we’re getting there. Drunk with smoked salmon.

Pale/medium straw. Floral nose, apples. Medium bodied, floral, appley, a touch of creamy breadth, crisp acids, good length finish showing a touch of spice. Decent but not exceptional.

Puligny-Montrachet: Pineapple/tropical notes, a very faint hint of gunpowder; round and pleasing in the mouth, lacks a bit length, slightly on the flabby side. Not very successful.

Mangler litt på intensiteten. Ett litt mørkere aromabilde. Fine kryddertoner. Litt tung på labben og savner litt av den lettbeinte elegansen som 14 pleier å ha. Konsentrert. Mulig dette trenger mer tid for å skinne. Voldsom mineralitet i en lang finish. 87p?

Great wine which is reasonably priced in a fantastic vintage. Colour is yellow to slightly green. On the nose the lime hits you immediatly, followed by flinty, slightly smokey character maybe hint of almond somewhere. On the palate perfect level of acidity. Some green apple. This wine certainly has tension and nerve. Sauzet keeps it all masterfully under control as it's all hormonious and balanced. Fantastic wine on village level. Only thing missing is the deeper layers and complexities from you get from the 1er and grand crus. This is a step (or two) up from Bouchard's CM and Faiveley's PM village entries which were both more than decent efforts.

Yellow. Reduction, some toast, and ripe fruit. Medium weight, very classy feel for a village wine, although some of that relates to the wood. Underripe pineapple and pear, good acidity but certainly not the raciest Puligny you'll ever taste. Nice white Burgundy for the short term.

Over sushi at Hakumai. This was accomplished village wine, with all the hallmarks of a good Sauzet and a nice nod to the quality of the vintage. The nose was still quite tight as would be expected, with little notes of mineral and chalk, white fruit and lemons dancing around in a compact little bouquet. The palate was really impressive for a village though, with a real punchy depth to its white fruit and citrus character, punctuated by a very nice sense of cut an definition, with mineral and acidity lending a lovely sense of structure all the way into a long finish laced with seashell and spice notes. Very nice indeed, this is a wine with good bones and a bright long term future ahead of it. I would love to try it again over the next 5-10 years.

DIVA Burgundy Tasting (Maison Champy - Beaune): Tasting, brief note. Ripe apple aromas with some sweet spice. Good concentration for its level gives it a fun character, but with the energy and textures that provide length and elegance. VG overall for its level.

Plutôt boudeur à l'ouverture autant au nez qu'en bouche. Apres 1h le beurre et les fruits à chair blanche ont commencé à percer.

Can we all agree that Sauzet is a somewhat over rated producer. This should be better. It's merely ok. Ok?
