Initially this shows high-toned yellow fruit, toast and a slightly waxy character to the fruit. With some air it gains complexity and I got more biscuit notes. Better with food than by itself, especially upon opening.

I had the Laherte Ultradition just a few weeks ago and posted a note here in this thread likening it to a Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve and this bottle confirmed that yet again. While the Heidsieck is already a strong QPR proposition, the Laherte Ultradition is even better along that metric if you ask me. Definitely a crowd pleasing style that shows so many of Champagne’s greatest traits.

This base level Laherte Freres Ultradition Brut doesn’t get nearly the attention of the extra brut offerings, so I wasn’t sure what to expect of it going in…I have to say, it’s quite nice! Not a complex wine, or doing anything particularly memorable other than being well balanced, having good acidity, some sweet autolytic notes, rich yet fruity, and an excellent long finish. Sort of a leaner version of a Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve, to my taste. This is punching above its price class for sure (I paid $40), and would make for a great “house champagne” and a good crowd pleaser.
Update: adding a point. With air and a modest rise in temp this picked up when more richness and beauty. This is just a great champagne, period.

Another bottle from the 06'2022 disgorgement. Light reddish golden colour. Red berries, apple, ripe lemon, floral notes, biscuit, bread crust, and light smoke, with good acidity and great persistence. The mousse is fine, smooth, and creamy. Very harmonious, and very long. Consistently great!

A private lunch (Restaurant Cantine de Caron, Amsterdam, NL): Half bottle, disgorgement date not disclosed. A blend of 60% Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir, 40% vin de réserve (kept in barrels on the lees), partial malo, aged for six months on the fine lees, 20 months sur lattes, dosage 8 gr/l. Crisp and minerally core, citrus and limestone, very energetic, lovely generosity and spice from the Meunier, very good resonance and length.

New disgorgement date for me, 06'2022. Medium copper-gold. Stemmy floral notes, apple, red berries, light blueberry, shy cherry, lemon, biscuit, bread crust, brioche, marzipan, and light smoke, with good acidity, and great persistence. The mousse is fine and perceived as creamy, and the wine is well-balanced and harmonious. Maybe not yet quite as complete as the 10‘2021 disgorgements I have been drinking lately, but getting there. Great champagne!

Disgorged 10‘2021. A little lighter-bodied but otherwise consistent with prior bottles: Light reddish gold. Stemmy floral notes, shy mixed berry notes, apple, almond crumble, bread crust, brioche, and a hint of smoke, with underlying minerality, well-integrated acidity, and great persistence. The mousse is fine and creamy. Smoothly textured, harmonious, and long. A beautiful champagne! Very good value.

Red apples and roses, strawberry and marshmallow, yeast. This sings of sweet, gentle song of flavour, start to finish, pleasing throughout without every really elevating itself. If there was an everyday Champagne in the books, this would be THE ONE.

Plucked from the cellar at short notice, as we'd run out of cold Champagne! Reliably enjoyable, including when slightly warmer in the glass, as its appeal rests more on broad, toffee-ish savoury impact rather than precision or delicacy. Having enjoyed three bottles recently, I'll now leave my remaining three a little longer and pull something else to be our 'house' Champagne for the coming period.

A blend of 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay, and 10% Pinot Noir, with a high portion of vins de réserve (40%). Disgorged in October 2021, with a dosage of 6 to 8 gr/l. Red berries, apple, citrus, almond, brioche, biscuit, toast, and flinty minerality, with lively acidity, fine, creamy mousse, and great persistence. Smoothly textured very harmonious, and very long. 12/20.disgorgement. yeasty and autolytic nose, with some yellow fruit in the background. Palate is tense with sweet fruit and zingy acidity. A little more satisfying at the moment than recent disgorgements of the ultradition extra-brut. But this still seems like it could use a little age to integrate.

I’ve had quite a few Laherte Freres champagnes (love the Les Grande Crayeres and the Les Beaudiers rosé), but just recently finally tried this Ultradition. Disgorged 6/2020.
As expected due to Aurelien’s love of the varietal, this is 60 meunier, 30 Chardonnay and 10 Pinot noir. 40% reserves utilized, and 6-8g dosage. For me, meunier has this distinct “gummy” note…like fruit snacks, and plenty of apple. Pours bright yellow in the glass. Aromas of apple crumble pie, golden delicious apple, hint of yeast, and grilled lemon. Rich on the palate but not overly so. Cardamom, more baked apple, honey and limestone at the finish. A little bit here for everyone.

Light golden color. Apple, light stone fruit, citrus, almond, biscuit, and light smoke, with fine, creamy mousse, good acidity, and superb length. Medium- to light-bodied, very balanced, and very harmonious. Light on its feet. Beautiful. A lovely champagne!

16' Base disgorged 2019 - really good - red apple skin vibe from the 60% meunier, focused, low dosage, a long, salty finish and all from 100% biodynamically grown fruit. What more can you hope for with a wine at this price? Worth seeking out the 16' base, lot's to like here.

Good showing. Tasted rather full, slightly richer than previous bottles. Touch of yeast and something strangely like a bit of chocolate on the nose. Medium length. Could ask for a touch more intensity, but then, I usually do.
Very serious entry champagne. Big yeasty brioche on the nose, extremely full on the palate from the ripeness of the Meunier, high dosage and the ageing in oak.

Disgorged June 2019. This exceeded expectations! Delicate nose and really fine on the palate, with mouthwatering citrus fruit, like one of those lemon/lime sherbet chew bars. Will probably fill out a little if left longer, but unlike so much recently disgorged NV it certainly doesn't feel skinny or immature. Good value, too.
Aromas of toast, sour dough bread, hint of citrus and something else I have smelled before but can’t identify at the moment. Flavors of toast, cream, hint of lime and pastry. Ends with a 15-20 second finish with pastry notes. This is quite good for the money.

a benchmark for me. Stunning depth, concentration and elegance, consistent from bottles / bottle agings young and old. Not easy to defend the value of Champagne as a category, but for $33 this is unmatched, a whole new caliber.

60PM, 30CH, 10PN. 40% reserve wines. Disgorged 11/2019. The dominance of Meunier is clearly present from the nose to palate. Chardonnay works like a backbone here with steel solid acidity. Pinot shines more to the finish, bringing some spice and apples. The wine is quite restrained on the nose with gentle lime and whiff of slate. On the palate explosive freshness and full broad flavour. Ripe sour fruits. Great balance. Great QPR.

Disgorged 04-2015. 60% pinot meunier, 30% chardonnay, 10% pinot noir, 6 to 8 g. dosage. A lot on the nose, light notes of strawberry and red fruits on the palate, very light note of sweetness, full mouthfeel and finish, unnoticeable acidity. The pinot meunier rules.

This benefits from some air. Then it's clean, fresh, green apple on the nose, the same on the palate - slightly bracing tartness, moderate finish. No great complexity. Perfectly decent aperitif wine, but not one to turn heads.
A little pricey at ~US$39

A new producer for me. From a flute. A touch darker than many NVs. Lovely ripe, creamy, peach-and-apple nose. Not so alluring on the palate, a touch strict with a little bitterness. Having said that, it's fragrant and crisp, and drinks well. 60% meunier, 30% chardonnary, 10% pinot noir; 40% barrel-aged reserve wines; 6-8g/l dosage; mostly fermented in woodl; partial malolactic fermentation; lees aged 6 months. Disgorged Jan 2019. [Composite cork + cage; 12.5% abv; Woodwinters, £30].

Krotida Wine Gang Tasting, Grower Champagne (Pezoulas Fish Tavern): Disgorgement 06/2018, dosage 6-8gr/lt The wine shows dense yellow color. The wine shows ripe stone fruit, citrus, tropical fruit, white and red fruit in the same time. Outsanding quality and very interesting because it just seems different.

disgorged 07/16. Second bottle of this and first was a half bottle while this is a full. Still pretty young and tense, not at all like the developed and truffle-y half bottle from memory. Drinks more like a really finessed Blanc de Blancs to me despite Meunier accounting for 60% of the blend. Mineral, gently yeasty and mature, magnificent depth. Paired so well with 生煎馒头, no dipping vinegar needed. 91-92+

I stand by my notes of last month. Wasn't certain it would be as enjoyed as on 9/16/17, but this bottle improved nicely when half the bottle was capped and refrigerated until this evening. It tasted much more complete. Still had nice effervescence.

This Champagne is lovely and turned out to be a wonderful accompaniment to dessert; nevertheless, this brut Champagne should not be limited to the end of the meal as it would be a very nice match with appetizers and main courses.
Notes are limited, but I was pleased with the refreshing quality of the effervescence and flavors after a big meal with lots of wine. A good amount of yeast and berry flavors made with a Chardonnay/Pinot Noir Champagne blend worked really well with the mix-berry buckle comprised of blackberries, raspberries, and a touch of lemon zest. This wine is very much recommended.
(See NYT: Summer Berry Buckle recipe.)

This was a pleasant bottle of Champagne, but it suffered in comparison to a recent Laherte BdB Grand Cru Brut Nature. The Ultradition is soft and easygoing in its expression, with nice yellow fruits and flowers. I enjoyed it well, but it doesn't have a lot to distinguish itself.

I believe this is the new name of the "Grand Brut" (they dropped the Grand). Disgorged 12/2014. 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir (40% of which are reserve wine). The grapes are sourced from 7 villages in the Côte des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. 6-8g/ltr of sugar. High upfront bead. Cheesy notes at first with tart apple notes. Some citrus on the finish. 88 points.

Good showing. Tasted rather full, slightly richer than previous bottles. Touch of yeast and something strangely like a bit of chocolate on the nose. Medium length. Could ask for a touch more intensity, but then, I usually do.

Delicious Champagne for the Masterclass. Delicious nose, balanced taste. Enjoyed the 60% Munier in this wine. Will drink again!

Very serious entry champagne. Big yeasty brioche on the nose, extremely full on the palate from the ripeness of the Meunier, high dosage and the ageing in oak.

Notes of chopped underripe strawberries, gentle jasmine and other flowers, peach cobbler
Palate follows with much less fresh fruit, and more of a focus on candied citrus, dried flower petals, and dried stone fruit.
Let this breath at least an hour before drinking.

Great QPR.

Antydan till mognad och ålder både i doft och smak. Lite rejälare i stilen med dominans av meunier. Torkad frukt, jäst, viss citrus och lite beska i eftersmaken.

Krotida Wine Gang Tasting, Grower Champagne (Pezoulas Fish Tavern): Disgorgement 06/2018, dosage 6-8gr/lt
The wine shows dense yellow color.
The wine shows ripe stone fruit, citrus, tropical fruit, white and red fruit in the same time.
The wine shows richness in the palate, a few tannins (!!), delicate carbonation, rich body, a few earthy notes, complex, vast array of flavours long finish.
Outsanding quality and very interesting because it just seems different.

18.11.2018 From 375ml bottle, no info about disgorgement nor vintages used. 60PM, 30CH, 10PN. 40% reserve wine. 8 gr dosage. This is entry level wine of Aurelien's portfolio, yet pretty high quality. Great balance, broad palate, rich, ripe flavors. Approachable and attractive. Crowd-pleaser.

disgorged 07/16.

(Served the first night with a braised pork loin along with potatoes, and cream sauce with roasted onions + a side of sautéed Swiss chard.)

88 points.
