Not showing the freshness or pop of past bottles. Maturing without adding complexity. It’s still a nice drink but I would recommend drinking soon. (88)

More mineral than the 2011, but lighter, more pineapple and grapefruit pith. deep citrus notes. especially toward the finish. Quite nice indeed and with a youthful grace.

Second Sunday Group: Finger Lakes Riesling (Mike & Judi's): Double blind. Another that is quite subtle and shy at first- apple/orchard fruit notes. White fruit on the palate with nice underlying acidity. picks up a nice floral undertone in the bouquet. Plenty to like here.

from boundary breaks: #239 is dry. 2014 vintage named to wine enthusiast's list of top 100 wines in the world. Made with very ripe fruit which are then fermented to a dry style.

Third bottle, last was 5/15/2017 and first was 6/25/2016. Same notes but it seems to not have much of a finish. Not sure if that is because it is approaching three years (downhill) or we just dud not notice it before. Still decent for the $$$. Would drink this year, don't hold.

PKBowen's note echoes my experience. A bit of rich pear, apple, and petrol aromas, with the body and ABV of the wine largely outweighing its acidity. Some chalk and lime flavors, but mostly peach, apple, and other tree fruits. Outclassed by a 2015 St Urbanshof Kabinett--which felt much, much lighter on its feet, even with its obvious RS.

American Rieslings: Bright aromatic display of chalk, lime zest and lemon curd. Crisp and zesty with a salty, oceanic aesthetic. Limes, peach, chalk dust, pure and vibrant with a long, nervy finish.

PnP at cellar temperature, paired with chevre. Dominated by petrol, tennis ball, and "new sneaker smell" on the nose, but also shows some apple juice and pear qualities. Apple juice and lemon drop flavors on the palate. Unfortunately there is little structure left in the way of acid and, even though this is the "dry" offering, there is definitely some RS here. We'd guess around 1-2%.
Tough to say if this was picked too ripe and had too little acid to start, or if the acid has dropped off with bottle age. Either way, it left this example seeming past-peak...start popping corks! "Good-to-very good," 85/100.

Great dry riesling, with nice, pure riesling aromatics of peach and lime. On the palate, peach and green apple. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Just the tiniest hint of RS on the finish, nicely balanced out by significant acidity.

Aromas of red apple, pear and citrus. Palate mirrors the nose and finishes long with bright acidity and soft mineral character. Pure and very well made. Served with sweet and sour chicken.

Had a taste at a tasting. Aromas of crisp apples and citrus. The flavors bring the citrus (lime & lemon) to the foreground with the green apple still around. Nice acidity.

Absolutely lovely stuff. Nose of slate, green apple, white peach, and pear. On the palate, apple, pear, citrus. Crisp racy finish. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

Tastes just like a dry Austrian Riesling with lovely flavors of grapefruit, hay and spice and good but not screeching acidity. Finishes juicy and tingly with nice complexity and minerality. Well done!

Ahhhh, here we go. Genuinely good, honest-to-goodness dry Riesling. Congrats, Finger Lakes, you have me sold. The focus and minerality on this are excellent, with enough fruit to keep it lively and interesting. Clean and precise. The acidity could be a little sharper for my tastes, but there's plenty here - I'm just an acid freak. 12.8%, ~$20.

Six Nations 2016: Peach, lemon and musk notes. Good mineral acidity, with a real lift toward the finish. Nice length. Leans toward the elegant side of Riesling and I like it.

(.8% R.S.) Nice color. The nose shows aromas of flowers, citrus, orange peel and a hint of minerals. This is light bodied on the palate with decent concentration and good class. The medium plus length finish features a slight saline element. Soft.

Light color. Spicy Riesling nose hat shows great purity. Lively, balanced palate that is full of fruit but serious and refreshing. Seriously good, dry Riesling that really impresses me. I can't think of any better wines from the East Coast than the Boundary Break Rieslings. (91)

A private lunch (Restaurant Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Pocantico Hills, NY, USA): Geisenheim clones, 12.8% ABV. Very much in the style of a Moselle Kabinett feinherb (Naturrein as it was called, before the confounded 1971 wine law), but without the slate characterstics. Juicy and fresh, not really complex perhaps and slightly on the riper side, but pure and well-balanced and with good length.

After the bottle last night, we decided to drive up and see what is going on here. Spent a wonderful hour with Bruce the owner. I believe this is a serious estate to seek out. The wines are simply at a very high level after just a few years. I loved this wine with its terrific grip, Riesling fruit and crushed rock finish. Still holding plenty in reserve, it should improve for 5 to 10 years easily. A steal for the money and an absolute gem from the east coast of the US. (90+)
Our first experience with New York wines and it was very good. Although a dry style, the fruit (tasted some apple and citrus) and floral nature avoided this wine being austere. We had this as a summer quaffer, but the remaining bottles will be paired with Asian fare. As the first note indicates, this is a tad short of full-bodied, I would say medium-bodied, but there is enough acidity to make this a good match for certain foods. $14.99 at Costco is a great bargain; we went back and were told we were getting the last three bottles. We are primarily red wine drinkers, but we like an occasional different white and we were very impressed with this Finger Lakes offering, especially for the price. Highly recommend if it fits with what you are looking for, as I have described. Short term aging potential. SECOND BOTTLE ON SEPT 8, 2016 Same result.

Orchard fruit and mineral qualities on the nose. Just to the light side of medium bodied but with very good density and 12.8% ABV. Served at 52F which showed more orchard fruit and citrus notes at first along with a good amount of acidity. As it warms, the tropical notes becomes more expressive and blends much more cleanly into the citrus and minerals on the back side and into the finish. This is generally close to a Trocken in terms of overall style and somewhere just above a kabinett in terms of weight and richness. The complexity through the middle and the balancing acidity made for a very enjoyable bottle and one that should continue to improve over the next few years.
