JD Friday Wine Group - GA Host (Dinner) (City Club FW - Oak Bar): Tasted blind - tiny bubbles in the flute, beautiful golden color, broad and deep flavor, big fruity nose - tastes of apple, bread, citrus, a little salty. Overall delicious. This is the style I like, as opposed to extra brut or no dosage. I guessed a 2006 big house top cuvee.

This wine is perfectly in my wheelhouse. Full throttle flavors and texture, yet elegant and balanced. The aged and fresh components are in perfect harmony. Great earthy complexity on nose and palate, with toasty apple and other white orchard fruit, subtle nuttiness. Spicy pickled ginger-like note adds to its energy. I really love this cuvée in 2000.

Really great bottle of Champagne. Nicely mature with nutty flavors, apple, some apricot, good minerality and strong tart acidity. As time went on, more sweetness emerged, just a really great bottle

Champagne In My Backyard: Served blind. There was some impressive concentration here for a wine that is approaching 25 years old. Lemon curd, stone fruit/tangy peach, with yellow apple and some nuttiness I bet from the age. Enjoyed this, one of my top 3 wines of the day.

Blind: this showed the color and texture of an aged sparkler. Apple and lemon notes with a red apple finish. Very small bubble which evaporated quickly.

Blind Champagne at FMIII's: Tasted blind. Nose is strongly suggestive of a wine with meaningful age. Palate is fruity, but dry; relaxed; high acidity; warm spices; a bit watery on the finish, but this is a very minor quibble. Overall, this is excellent and it was one of my favorites of the tasting.

Served blind. Very ripe character on the nose with florals, ginger and some VA. Very drying finish. It gave me the qualities of a skin contact white. I liked the complexity but it was wanting for cohesion.

I love this producer and love all of their bottles. This one is at a perfect spot showing button mushrooms, ripe green apples, dried lilies, fresh croissants, salty butter, and richly textured. For my personal taste, this was released right when it was at a perfect spot.

Absolutely on fire and in the heart of its drinking window for me, with excellent secondary toasted notes coming through. Balanced, with fine mousse. Thoroughly enjoyed at the beginning of dinner with friends.
I had another bottle of this 6 months ago that made me think this bottle would be over the hill. Not sure if it was bottle variation generally or if that bottle was previously under poor storage conditions. This bottle tonight made me learn that there was nothing wrong whatsoever with this wine at age 23. Enjoy now plus 2 or 3 years, I'd say.

Just at or very slightly past peak, with some nutty oxidative notes coming through. I enjoyed the 2001 more a couple years ago, but still for the money this is fantastic.
Brought to a celebratory dinner. I had a glass.

A beautiful bottle, defying its age other than a scant, subtle nuttiness. Great earthy complexity on nose and palate, with toasty apple and other white orchard fruit; energetic. My first d’Harbonville; I’ll look for more.

Golden yellow in glass. Fresh as a daisy. Fine beads that dissipate fairly quickly. Apples, dough, smoke and salinity. Lovely complexity. High acidity coupled with an almost half minute long finish.

Tasted with friends tonight. Absolutely fantastic. Nose on first pour was intense yeast that actually had us worried, but this immediately gave way to toast. Palate was flinty crisp and rich, with a long finish. We enjoyed this bottle over the course of two hours - frankly I don't know how we managed to stretch it that long, delicious.

This bottle was pretty much like the last bottle. It was nice at first, maybe 91-92 quality. It did not have enough intensity for a higher score.
This wine was refined and nicely balanced. However, after about an hour of air, the white stone element in the wine blossomed and made it quite attractive. It tasted like Cristal lite.
Drink over the next 5+ years.

Purchased at the Domaine, this wine had a deep yellow center, clear rims, and strong small bubbles. The medium intensity nose of lemon, minerals, brioche, and apples.
In the mouth, this wine had a nice juicy mouthfeel with a long stoney finish. This is pretty wine with lovely flavors.
This was an excellent wine that is ready to go and, probably, at its peak.

Hawker night at Caroline's: Golden in colour, rich and nutty champagne in the old-school style. Felt like it was losing acidity so better to drink up.
