Wundervoll.

SLDS September 2022: Honey and kerosene, orange peel and apple on the nose. Acid is starting to round out on the palate, turning quite honeyed already. Feels like this is ready to go in the near future based on this bottle

Heute eine fast perfekte Flasche, Opulenz trifft auf Eleganz, viele exotische Früchte, dabei auch Mineralleck, mal wieder einer der besten deutschen trockenen Riesling!

Not sure what to make of this Riesling GG, disappointing! Petrol, buttery note, apricot, light acidity, tropical fruit, lacking freshness and crisp acidity one would expect. An off bottle? There are so many better options out there, no match for the GG of for example Keller, Schafer-Frohlich or Emrich-Schonleber...

SLDS June 2019: Tropical nose - pineapple, mango, lime and slate. Fresh, mineral driven palate with good depth of flavour - the tropical notes are there but they are melded well. Excellent balance and potential.

A bit reserved at the moment - developing somewhat with some air revealing mellow citrus notes and a bit of eucalyptus. I think time will be of some help with a final range of perhaps 94-95.

Popped, poured, consumed over next two hours. This did not perform well for me this evening. It was up against tough company. Oak evident. Nice, well made, but didn't really evolve in the glass. Maybe a grumpy bottle.
Tastings in Italy and Germany - November/December 2017; 11/23/2017-12/1/2017 (Rome/Bernkastel/Cochem/Herborn): This tasting included only 2015 Riesling GG, and all were great. This Idig is my very first experience with A. Christmann wines, and definitely won't be the last. This site, which is a monopole in the southern Mittelhaardt region of the Palatinate, doesn't have the name recognition as Pechstein or Kirchenstück around Forst, for example, but it is probably on a par with those in 2015.
This Riesling possesses a very pleasant nose with mostly notes of pear and pineapple, but it is on the palate where it excels, being really structured with great freshness and intensity, and perfect acidity. It is precise and long on the aftertaste, although it was overshadowed in this regard by the Halenberg in this flight. I'd put this on a par with Wittmann's Morstein, which might have a bit better chance of improvement in the next few years. But this Idig is as good as it gets for its price. 94-95(+?)pts.

Cork, 13% alc. Quite a developed colour for 2015. Oxidative handling?
Gunpowder, peach, green herbs and grapefruit from the glass. Some apricot here too? Oak is noticeable but in its place.
Unsweetened apple juice in mouth with a firm acidic presence and some alcohol heat. Long finish. Slightly smoky with a fruit salad collection of flavours, weighty in the mouth with initial impact of acid, but finishes clean without excess acidity.
Opinion: Needs much time to build perfume and secondary complexity. Impressive dry Riesling.

VDP- Tour Grosse Lage 2017 (Hotel Atlantic, Hamburg): The most powerful and energetic appearance of Christmanns Rieslinge, the most layered texture, superb viskosity of its ripe stonefruit, great richness and depth on the midpalate, ending very long and delicious, very young but tasty right now, give it some more years, for the next decade+, **(**+-?), 92- 95+

Oak. wonderful mineral acidity, even gunpowder. A lot of fruit and a distinct saltiness in the finish. All so well integrated already. A blockbuster in the making.

VDP-Riesling-presentation (Telekom-buiding at Berlin): For me nearly always the best GG from the Pfalz, stonefruit, some ripe peaches, very layered with mineralic, herbal and fruity aromas, vibrating acidity, enormous energetic texture ending very long, for the next decade(s), **(***), 93-97+

Tasted after Meerspinne (formerly Mandelgarten) GG. Complex nose, surprisingly expressive for a young Idig. Ripe stone fruit, flowers, herbs - very fine with wonderful depth. On the palate again very layered, complex. Slightly creamy, rich and big, but the acidity and the mineral backbone cut through the fruit. Very vibrant and balanced. Very very long and lingering. This will be amazing. 95-96+
