Straw and maybe hints of vanilla on the nose. Tannins very evident; mid-palate and a bit up front with red fruit. A light attack but the fruit then starts coming into its own. Will pair with a Mediterranean dish...... Rikki on first sip said it had the heat / warmth she enjoys. Maybe just a bit over the top for the dish not overpowering where it stole the show. The olives and rich EVOO did it's job to balance it to a degree.

This deep ruby wine is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 4% Syrah, 1% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, aged for 14 months in a combination of American and French oak (32% new). Loaded with black and red fruit that is accented with notes of lavender, cocoa, pipe tobacco and espresso, it is a medium-bodied, freshly acidic offering with fully assimilated oak, well-woven alcohol (13.5%) and very soft tannins. Solid on the mid-palate and medium in length on the finish, this is a delightful Cabernet that is very easy to drink. Tremendous value here! Drink now-2025.

A pleasant wine with great QPR. In this price range the wines are either so placid that they do not leave any mark or are so edgy that they make the palate cringe. This wine on the other hand is balanced and imminently enjoyable. It is not a terribly complex wine and yet manages to taste comparable to wines 3 times its price. Red berries, pencil shavings, leather on the nose. Fruit forward on the palate, medium bodies, with a balanced tannins that give it a medium long finish. Enjoyable on a cold week night.

PnP. The bottom of the line cabernet from Chat. Ste. Michelle. Too fruity to be interesting. Could use a bit more acidity and complexity. Even at $12 from the winery it has a questionable QPR. Stick to the other, and better, cabernets from CSM.

A: Medium purple N: Medium (+) nose. Youthful notes of blackberry, black cherry, BAKING SPICE, COFFEE, tobacco and some bell pepper. P: Dry, high acidity, medium (+) tannin , full body, medium (+) intensity, alcohol (13.5%) and finish. C: Not as ripe and sweet as the California stuff. The cherries were a dead give away for Washington apparently (Em). Might be more interesting to lay it down for 3 years but a Very good quality wine for $13. Good QPR.
GUESSES: Fruit forward and therefore new world. Moderate climate owing to controlled alcohol and the fruit wasn't cooked. The cassis and blackberries sent me to Cabernet Sauvignon.

Ok for budget Cab but not as complex or interesting as Chateau Ste Michelle Indian Wells Cab in the same relative price point. Works as pop n pour casual wine for weeknight glass or informal gathering.
Not bad for a budget US Cab: less fruit driven than most. Had blackcurrant, red current, blackberry and herbaceous aromas with a smokiness and licorice. Medium bodied, lots of soft ripe tannins and a refreshingly high level of acid. A nice sipping wine on it's own. With salt in food it turned rather fruitier.

N: Initially closed, but opened to jammy notes of blk cherries & toast; Intensity lurking?
P: LM body; NICE frt on front; NICELY balanced with a LONG finish, though on the faint side. Cellar until mid '18. WAY more elegance/polish than one commonly finds @ this price pt, though MAY lack intensity? IF not, a STEAL @ this vendor's now unavail $9.95, though July 2018's wine-searcher shows NUMEROUS sources from $10.89-$23.69. 89 pts WE @ $15.

Yum. A nice wine for the price point.

Liked the wine, medium aroma, good color, nice red cherry flavors, light oak, soft tannins, and decent lingering mouthfeel. Will gain some body overtime. Looking forward to this again in 1-2yrs.

Great cheap wine. Soft but not flabby. I think "approachable" is the operative word. Definitely a Cab. Another year or so is probably a good idea if you have space.

Sat, 04/15/17, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 87% C.S, 6% Merlot, 4% Syrah, 1% Malbec, 1% C.F., & 1% Petit Verdot; Aged 14 mos in AM & FR oak, 32% new; 13.5% ABV, 0.55 /100ml T.A., & 3.85 pH.
Note: Improved with 3 hrs in a sm tasting glass!
