Nose: fig, nutty, honey Notes: this has been known to be quite dry and rightly so. Not the typical brioche and caramel notes one might find in many Champagne, this has quite some acidity accompanied with nice minerality and a rather steely aftertaste. One can tell that this is build for the long haul and I believe at this stage this is still quite young. Disgorgement was done in 2016 so this has plenty of life ahead of it. Drink: 2030+ Rating: 89

Beautiful straw color, fine perlage. Refined nose of yellow apples, lemons, brioche. Great acidity that keeps the deeply layered palate fresh. Toast, butter, lemon blossom, apples, hazelnuts, with a long, lingering ending of oak and vanilla. Another hit from Philipponnat - very enjoyable wine from what’s supposed to be an off vintage. I can see how it doesn’t have the crispness of better vintages, but this is an amazing Champagne that will age nicely for a few more years.

Le Lavandou/Bormes 2022-Summer holidays: Having Loek and Saskia for some days in the neighborhood and one thing is neatly for sure: he brings a bottle of champagne for dinner. Philipponnat stands for elegance and this one shows it. the pinot makes this blend slightly robust. The wine showed, in the acidity, a certain age and I didn't think it was a vintage champagne missing a bit the concentration to be one. The balance, the refinement and the superb mousse made it a distinguished champagne.

Fresh dough, farmhouse butter nose with a grainy, almost beery note. It's a bit quiet overall, but a really pleasing balance of acid and richness to the palate, with lemon drop fruit - but none of the exotic notes this sometimes shows in warmer vintages. This bottle was in a nice place, still heading toward the early peak but not too far off. On day 2 the nose is more open, and the farmhouse butter note and palate richness are turned up significantly. The developed notes remind me of a good bottle of 2002 Dom Perignon at its current state of evolution. This is really exceptional and for my preferences, worth waiting another 2-3 years for this phase.

Pretty nose of yellow fruit, sea shell. The palate is open a fleshy. Not over the hill at all like other reviewers have indicated but perhaps because this has been well stored. Lemon rind, orange, biscuit come through on this. But lacks a bit of concentration and lift indicating it may not be long lived.

Pausing for the Cause 2022 (Chicago, IL): I didn't really like this wine today. It felt so incredibly mushroomy and dense, with a somewhat disjoint dosage, and far older than it actually was too. Coming around to the opinion that I'm just not a huge fan of Goisses...

From Magnum- immediately accessible- nice balance and finish. Lacking in the acidity and energy that the 2008 has but still delicious. This is likely in its prime with a long life ahead.

Golden color, already tones of honey and caramel that I get with older champagne. This is weird, it is a 2007 but tastes closer to a 1990 or 1995 champagne. If you have bottles I would crack one to check to see where it is. I bought 2 of these and not sure this improves much with age. It can last a few more years, but not sure 10 more. Glad I opened this as I like champagne 20-25 years old and I doubt this survives that long. Could just be the 2 I bought.Good news if you like complex, delicous, aged champgane, you can get this for a great price point. The champagne was great, just maturimg really fast.

Golden color. Nose is rich and fresh -- fresh baked brioche, a hint of lemon, toasted nuts and a bit of apple. Silky mouthfeel. Initial impression is of the brioche and lemon curd, then hazelnuts, lime zest, a hint of cigar box and wet stones. This is a beautiful wine, that is not yet at peak. A great way to start the New Year.

5pm Champagne Sunday. En magnum. Very good. Slightly browned, but low/no acidity and low bubbles. Utterly charming and quaffable. Elegant, delicate. Not a stayer. Drink now. Not sure how the 2033 suggestions will fare. A few more years in the tank, but can't see any upside to today's complete pleasure.

Painfully young at this stage for my palate. Lots of green apples with high acidity and a rich mouthfeel. Paired well with the acidity in the lobster/tomato dish and mellowed with the jerusalem artichoke soup but it for sure needs food to come into its right. Will not try another bottle until 2025 at the earliest

Brought to an after-hours version of Tasting Group and it just seemed right to bring bubbles...and why shouldn't it be Clos des Goisses? The wine was brought out of the fridge about 20 minutes before service and allowed to warm on the counter during service. Due to the social circumstances, no formal notes. The wine was visually pretty with a golden hue and persistent mousse. The nose was quite giving and seemed rather youthful with little sign of age. The palate was a brilliant mix of white peach and raspberries; there was a layered richness that was quite decadent and yet the brilliant acid gave all the lift that was necessary. The finish was long and lip smacking. I want more of this. Much more of this please!

(Blind tasting) Fully developed nose. Apple, marzipan, cream and apricots. Hints of mineral and white flower. Very good depth. Ripe. Fully developed palate. Full body. Harmonius mouthfeel. High acidity gives backbone. Very fruity. Smooth. Apple, cream, marzipan and hint of chocolate. In a perfect spot. 2007 seems to offer generosity, without having to cellar for decades. However, not the intensity and concentration of greater vintages.

Firing on all cylinders today, this bottle showed faint sulfur, a deeper gold than might be expected from an 07, but well integrated flavors. Clearly a blend with green and red apple notes, bready with a long smudge of dosage. Loved it.

Lots of green apple, yellow apple, grapefruit, and lemon on both nose and palate. Palate also shows plenty of toasted baguette with a yeasty note on finish. Very good depth, good+ length. Best now before the bready character completely dominates.

Without doubt a bit young and possibly not at its zenith in this vintage. A very refined opening, with a pretty golden light yellow color, fine mousse and an angular citrus (lemon) acidity --all of which characterized the wine consistently in its initial stage. Next came the toast, some citrus/herb flowering and later the chardonnay (35%) prevailing tones, with a little dose of fruit hints of dry flowers, but with more dynamic acidic edges. This was pleasant asa drier style Cuvee until the last 25 minutes, when it just dropped off. A second tasting later with dinner revealed the same pattern of emerging flavors, followed by a steep drop-off before it was done. Wait, but not necessarily hope, for more.

Straight fireworks right from the get-go. Both big and beautiful on the nose with intense ripe fruits (apple, lemon and tangerine) and haunting spiciness. Very complex and quite savory despite the ripeness. On the palate the same theme continues: remarkable density and size and the power of a V12. Really vinous and full-bodied with tons of fruit similar to the nose. Clearly it is very early days for this wine but already I find it extremely satisfying and delicious. A very unique prestige Champagne and worth the tariff I would say.

Too young and a bit compressed, but already a beautiful wine and the best Champagne I've had in a long time. Wonderful toasty, strongly developed nose coupled with bright fresh acidity and overly aggressive mousse. Not a lot of additional development on day 2, but holding nicely. Perhaps a touch more ripe yellow fruit. Great Champagne, it just needs time. A second bottle a few days later from the same source was much more muted. The variability with Goisses sometimes just seems higher than with others.
