This bottle was better than the last one. Plummy nose with brooding notes of ripe berries and fresh soil. On the palate blackberry, blueberry, plum, earth, forest floor, leather and iron. A beautiful wine in a very good place

Beautiful mature bouquet of plum, blackberry, cedar wood, iodine, tobacco and forest floor. Well integrated tannins, good balance and with some acidity present that gives the wine some liveliness. Let breath in bottle for couple of hours but should be ready right from popping the cork

Still drinking nicely, aromas: dark fruit and forest floor/earth with a slight note of mineral. The palette was nicely balanced with fruit, tannins and the finish was enjoyable and medium length.

A nice aroma with a little sweetness, some woodsy notes and just a hint of liquorice. On the palette I found some nice berry notes, blackberry..maybe blueberry. Thought I detected a menthol like bit to this as well. Was well balanced right out of the bottle. Was still very nice after a day and still fine after 2 days when I finished it up. A very enjoyable bottle.

Still dominated by a very strong barrel toasting in the nose. Opens up after an hour. On the palate pretty spicy from the toasting. Modern style, fullbodied, smooth, fades rather quickly. Won´t improve. Drink up in the coming 2-3 years.

Initially I thought lacking in fruit. But lately I have been drinking a lot of Calif. Pinot. As time went on, I really liked the acidity and balance, and with dinner it was perfect. This is a well aged Bdx, and is drinking very well. It has gotten older than I intended, but it is still a beautiful bottle of wine. I still have a number of bottles left, so it will be fun to track this wine over the next several years. No rush to drink up, but won't get any better, so enjoy!

The color is dark and deep ruby and the nose is earthy with forest floor, mushroom, and a hint of tobacco. A traditional style Bordeaux with the palate showing blackberry, licorice, forest floor, a hint of fig, menthol, and mushroom. Low acidity and low/medium tannins with just enough bitterness to keep it refreshing. Medium body with a rounded, medium length finish. A very good drink now but will stand a few more years of cellaring.

A very nice medium bodied wine. Pretty typical of bordeaux in that it is not a fruit bomb and has some complexities to the nose and flavors. Needs some decanting to smooth out a rough start.

Baked cherry pie, milk chocolate and some earthiness on the nose. A little sweet on the palate, rich but not at all heavy, polished, but otherwise nice balance & length. Some black cherries, hints of milk chocolate & truffles. Some fine tannins and a lovely finish. Drank well with a gouda cheeseburger. Terrific wine, but I'm not sure it displays much Fronsac character. Seems to be a modern style, could just as well have been a California merlot blend.

A very nice medium bodied wine. Prtety typical of bordeaux in that it is not a fruit bomb and has some complexities to the nose and flavors. Tannins were fully resolved so this is ready to drink. We enjoyed it quite a bit over two nights. No deterioration after being store in the fridge overnight.

Decanted for 1 hour. Medium ruby red in colour. At first, almost cab like on the nose, red fruits, hints of Bordeaux funk. In the mouth there was more red fruits but it was quite tart. After a few hours in the decanter, the funk blew off and what was left was a massive merlot nose of black fruits...black currants, black plums and cherries. In the mouth there are now flavours of black cherries, blackberries and black currants. The tartness has completely gone away. Medium body, acidity and tannin. It’s round in the mouth with a soft entry. Very well balanced. There’s a blast of black liquorice that comes through on the medium length finish. Overall a very dark profile on this wine after it was exposed to some air and very little, if any, secondary aromas or flavours. Can be enjoyed now but this is still youthful. Try again in 3-5 years. Excellent. 90+

Opened and served right away. Medium ruby in colour. On the nose, red currants and cherries with hints of Bordeaux funk. Similar on the palate with a little spice and leather. Good structure and length. Drinking much more youthfully than my last bottle 18 months ago. Drink or hold, but based on this bottle I think it will improve with a few more years. Very good. 89+

Classic menthol and cedar on the nose. Deep, dark ruby red in the glass. Tightly wound when first open, but opened up in the glass. A little rustic, with bits of unfined debris. The big fruit of 2003, yet all the elements of a good claret. Solid, but not great. I don't think it has more than a handful of years left.

This is a shockingly good bottle for 24 dollars (case discount at woodley in 2008). Pop and poured : dark purple, blackberries, cherries, earthy. Rich full-bodied. Finish is medium and memorable. This wine is not thin as others bordeaux < 40 bucks. This one is better than a Napa cab I opened day before. I absolutely love it. Would buy it at 40 bucks. Will look to add 2005 vintage.

Dense plummy nose with cassis and perhaps a cocoa component. Lots of bright, ripe fruit with hints of tobacco and leather on the palate. Decent midpalate presence dominated by ink and leather. Nice finish with soft tannin. On the riper side of the fence, but great structure and a really enjoyable drink. Good with chicken paillard and good with nothing after.

Pretty classic Bordeaux aromas. Dark purple with a nose of cedar and graphite. A little barnyard, but pleasantly so (I think). Tart with firm tannins in front of the fruit. Raspberry and red fruits on the mid palate with a little dried cheryr and heat on the finish. This seems to be drinking pretty well now and doesn't seem to have the stuff for the long haul. I think I'll drink these over the next 3-5 years.

This is the third, or is it the fourth, bottle of the 2003 Laroque I've had and the next bottle has been better than the last each time. This wine will never escape it's heritage and upbringing in an extremely hot year. A year in which thousands of Frenchmen died from heat exposure, a year in which the temp went over 90 at least 20 different days when Bordeaux normally see more than five. The nose on this is very nice showing me sagebrush, lavender, licorice, and plenty of earth and to me is immediately recognizable as Bordeaux. The fruit is plentiful in the form of brambly raspberry and blackberry. The palate is quite a different story. While the attack is nicely balanced with good acid and fruit, there is little tannin and the finish is a bit cloying showing the medicinal side of the ripeness of the vintage. Overall the wine is good, I think it will improve nicely over the next five years, and was a moderately good buy at $20. I'll check back in a couple of years down the road with the next botlle.

Can't really rate. But, on the first night it was very tight, little nose and not much in the way of flavor. We corked it back up and stored it over night. The next day it was ok. By night time, however, it was rather enjoyable. Advice to self, let this stay for at least another year. It most likely just isn't ready yet.

Really a 89+....served blind, I knew it was Bdx...needed about 1 hour of air time to really integrate, though I enjoyed it from the start...red fruit, bit tannic at first, though that smoothed out with some time... good layers of flavor... a quality Bdx at a very nice price point....

January Wine Club Meeting (The Grapevine, Salem, MA): Tasted at Wine Club 1/11/07. Dark purple color. Nose of lush cassis and blackberry (very fruity). On the palate the mouthfeel was velvety with cassis, blackberry, anise, and a hint of vanilla. Tannins were soft and pleasant. Oveall very smooth.

This was so good that if it were a classified growth I would have been very happy; great length, great fruit, grip to last several years, but drinks very well young. Decanted 20 minutes, drunk over two hours, good to the end. Was wonderful with lamb. A QPR all star.

A solid, Bordeuax QPR with a delicious, concentrated mouthful of cherry, herbs, and tar. The oak treatment is balanced, but the tannins are a bit rough and gripping. The finish is clean, but a bit abrupt and drying and the alcohol level shows through a bit on the back end. The wine is pleasurable now, but will improve with a few years.

Decanted 2 hr. Color shows a deep ruby core with a blood-red tinge at the rim. The nose is fully open with aromas of red fruit, forest and spice. Flavors are slow to build on the palate and gather toward the end with ripe black cherry, pomegranate, creamy blueberry, mineral and charcoal. The wine has medium to full body. Finishes with ample length and grace with lingering red fruit, fine sweet tannins and a trace of oak. This young Bourdeaux is drinking well now and shows good short term upside potential. A good value.

Decent nose with lots of cherry cola, good fruit on the taste, but and odd vinyl taste took over after the swallow that diminished the finish for me. While priced very well, I will taste my other bottles before evaluating.

Enjoyed this bottle more than the first. Decanted and from a big bordeaux glass. Very integrated, exotic and long. Tannins have to be looked for, but are there. So delicious it will be hard not to drink my stash immediately. But it will improve I believe - could become my all time QPR wine!

Really a 89+....served blind, I knew it was Bdx...needed about 1 hour of air time to really integrate, though I enjoyed it from the start...red fruit, bit tannic at first, though that smoothed out with some time... good layers of flavor... a quality Bdx at a very nice price point....

Tight and still a long way from finally coming together displayed some earthiness and potential jamminess and black currant.

Decanted a couple of hours prior. Drank with a porterhouse that I overcooked. Very little fruit. Lots of heat on the nose. Slightly less tannic than the last bottle. Not impressed at all. Just flat with nothing going on.

Needs some time. Nose is pleasant but shows some brett early on, then throws off blackberry, oak, and roasted vanilla bean, and a moderate finish. Not very impressive.

Very young and tannic at first. Decanted for about 45 minutes prior to first glass. Starting to become a little more approachable after about 2 hours, unless it's just the buzz.

Very decent bottle of wine. A little abrupt and acidic on the finish but it has a nice aroma and good texture.

A bit weedy and forestry for me. Fruit is subdued. Not to my liking much, though it has a great balance and a fine finish.

Decent nose with lots of cherry cola, good fruit on the taste, but and odd vinyl taste took over after the swallow that diminished the finish for me. While priced very well, I will taste my other bottles before evaluating.

Deep red, with red cherry and herbs on the nose and still fairly tannic. Not sure if it will age well, but a very nice wine now.

Just too young and herbaceous right now. Hint of black tea in the background. Should be better in the future.

Enjoyed this bottle more than the first. Decanted and from a big bordeaux glass. Very integrated, exotic and long. Tannins have to be looked for, but are there. So delicious it will be hard not to drink my stash immediately. But it will improve I believe - could become my all time QPR wine!

Very full, more exotic than previous vintages. Tannins present, but covered by the sweet fruit. Lots of toasty oak on the attack.
