Kind of grew on us, a tropical fruited lime-grapefruit acidic zinger dancing across the tongue, great contrast to salty grilled chicken, creamy pasta, etc. Nice QPR to boot and won't offend.

Clay, pineapple, and other tropical fruits on the nose. Grapefruit stood out on night one but I didn't get that on night two. There's always a strong kick of lemon, though. Paired well with both mahi mahi and coronation chicken. The complexity of this inexpensive wine is pretty remarkable.

Delicious and complex, with intensely fragrant aromas and flavors of guava, lime and passion fruit bursting through the zingy acidity. More full-bodied than many Marlborough SB's, this has a mouth-coating richness that extended and amplified the flavors. One of the best Sauvignon Blancs I've ever had, full stop. If you can get this for $10, it's hard to think why you would drink most other white wine.

Nose: Strong kiwi, lime, red grapefruit, tertiary notes of lemongrass and stone. Very very fragrant.
Mouth: Juicy, even intense pineapple, honeydew and kiwi. Solid body and racy, almost effervescent acidity that arcs around the juicy core without distracting. Very well rounded and unified between the nose and the mouth.
Overall: Fantastic value as a drinking wine for the price paid ($16, June 2018). Very complete expression of the varietal grown in the region. The flavors might even be a bit too loud to try and pair with, and can't really share the stage with anything. Strong representation of Marlborough. 100% Sauvignon Blanc.

Very nice everyday wine from New Zealand. This Sauvignon Blanc has an expressive nose of citrus, cantaloupe, melons, herbs, grass, etc. The wine is not as ripe and opulent as a Sauvignon Blanc from a warmer climate like that in Sonoma County. This is clearly a cold climate wine with racing acidity that adds a zinger to the palate. It is great when paired with briny oysters or salmon and lemon butter sauce. The finish is medium long with hint of citrus pith aftertaste. Definitely a good every day wine with a good QPR.

Easily identifiable as a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Grapefruit and acid dominate. Pleasant wine with salmon. If you like Kim Crawford you'll probably like this especially because it's only $9-10 so it's a better bang for the buck. Keep a few bottles on hand for summer sipping.

Aroma reminds me of old mediterranean island towns. Grassy floral fresh flavours. Passionfruit and kiwi comes to mind. I gave this wine a subjective rating of 92 because it brings me back. 89-90 is more reasonable objectively looking at this wine.

Clear pale golden yellow in colour with a fabulously intense and lively nose of gooseberries, summer peaches, yellow pomelo and the smell of a wild grassy field on a breezy summer’s eve. The wine is clean, crisp, medium-bodied with a refreshing and a protracted finish. The flavour profile evokes impressions of ripe summer yellow fruits, gooseberries, white grapes and the wild grass with a wonderfully noticeable grapefruit rind finish. A remarkably drink worthy Kiwi SB with at a great price point.

Palest yellow with a light green cast in color. Tart pineapple and citrus in aroma. Tart though acidity is a bursting acid on the palate. Quite long and forward lime flavor mid palate, finishing with a quick burst of passion fruit and the slightest hint of hibiscus. Crisp and clean that’s not polarizing

The Wine Spectator rated this 90, and it made their "TOP 100" list for 2017. I disagree. Although it is laudable that this wine can be bought for around $10, it is not that great. My bottle, while not awful, was too sweet for a NZ SB, and a bit bitter and weedy. And why did they bottle it in a clear bottle when it is axiomatic that light is bad for wine (and beer)? My memory tells me that many years ago, when Matua was about $6, and much better, the bottle was dark green. I'm glad I tried a bottle before diving in. I will not be going back for a case.
