Consistent and slightly better than last one, silkier but good amount of throw at bottom Day 2 so be careful - seems at peak and suggest drinking fairly soon.

Pretty ruby-purple hue and fairly clear. With decanting and time in glass the aromatics express sweet bramble berry, vanilla-mocha, and mild dusty spices. Similar flavors with a bit more dark fruit, maybe plums?, and coffee notes, with some peppery baking spice, tannins present but fairly softened and ligther in body. Slight amount of heat and maybe a bit thin on the finish but nice overall package. Will revisit Day 2 to confirm TN.

This is how I like my zins. Tart blackberry bramble, black cherry, peppery baking spices, and then a hint of warm spiced plum. There is a mineral/herbal component that is hard to identify, followed lastly by a bit of toasty oak. In the mouth, eye opening bright red fruits, then the wave of acidity drowns everything else. After the wave passes, blackberry, slight plum, and lingering baking spices. You can feel a slight dusty tannin lurking around the gums.
Mauritson does such a great job getting just enough ripeness and maintaining structure. No flab, no jam, no prune, no raisin, no port like alcohol levels.
Paired with a pulled pork tenderloin, slow cooked in root beer for six hours (yes, that was it), topped with LT's Kansas City BBQ sauce. Side of buttery parmesan polenta, and mixed green salad.
From the vino volo in seattle. This was the $2 taste. It's pretty intense in flavor. Heavier fruits. More ripe. I'm not sure it quite speaks to me. I ordered this and the sparkler sampler (which generally paired better with the food). This was good for what it was doing so it was more a style thing. If you like the heavier fruit this at least had a touch of acidity to balance (but less in the secondary characteristics).

Delicate nose black berry, cherry cola and a slight smoke/spicy aroma. Silky and balanced raspberry, black cherry, pomegranate & slighty unripe strawberry. Part of tasting flight at La Cave - Wynn Vegas.

ZAP:STORIES FROM SONOMA COUNTY. Nose of black cherry fruit, licorice, and boysenberry, same on the palate, tasty, big body, lovely fruit, rich fruit, mouth filling fruit, showing good potential with ageing, long finish.

Taste Top Wines for August (San Diego Wine Co.): 95% Zinfandel & 5% Petite Sirah from Estate (Block 5, Rockpile Ridge, Madrone Spring, & Cemetery) & Grower (Faloni Ranch, Buchignani/Garcia, Treborce, & Montecillo) Vyds. Aged 14 mos in 100% FR oak barrels; 14.75% ABV; 1,430 cases.
N: Iron, minerals, toast, spice
P: Med body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringency which SLOWLY, pretty mucy resolves by the LONG, very, VERY slightly bitterish finish with a tangy/swtness to the FAIRLY innocuous tannins. For now & into '21, with a bit of improvement poss thru the rest of '18. My VG+/EXC-. 93 pts WS & 90 Decanter. [This vendor's $22.99 would be 2nd on wine-searcher's limited, albeit skewed, listing.]

Deep ruby, with black fruit and lots of vanilla and oak spice. The palate is consistent with the nose, with a smooth round mouthfeel. Nice acidity and tannins. It has a little bit too much new oak for my tastes, however. Drink now through 2020.
