Comte Liger-belair Vosne Clos du Chateau 2016. Må ha et par timer luft. Yes yes yes. Vidunderlig sexy Pinot-parfyme. Stor intensitet. Saftig kremet frukt i anslaget. Holder kraften pent gjennom hele kurven. Sitter lenge med de fineste tanniner. Skikkelig deilig bitt i finish. 94p+

A perfect end to a night of insane wine Nose - hay, fresh grass, carrots, strawberries. Very aromatic in a farm-y sort of way. The ‘17 smelled more of pure strawberry Mouth - superbly pure and fresh, a stemmy and some might say underripe wine, to me light in body but powerful in flavor. This wine is currently displaying wild red fruits (strawberry) with an enchanting acidic lift. I liked the 2017 a bit more though I wonder if this 2016, with its stemminess, might in due time develop into a perfumed elixir par excellence. And all from a village plot. (1371/3548)

Pale ruby color, with good clarity. Opening the nose was over the top muscular and animalistic, with farm house aroma and fungi elements, after some air more nuanced floral, herbal and wild strawberry came through. On the palate the power and quality shine immediately, with a chewyness that was distinctive. Spice box coupled with fresh picked berry fruit were dominating follow up by rose and violet garden, herbal essences, black tar, ash and clay. Consumed over 3 hours with improvement over time. Hard to question the distinctiveness and quality of this producer.

Domaine du Comte-Liger Belair smaking på Happolati (Oslo): 2016 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château. Noe introvert på nesa. En strammere og slankere utgave enn 16. Ren og elegant. Med luft så begynner det bli sexy. Nydelig frukt her. Noen små kanter, men ikke mye. Lang med nydelige tanniner. Vokser og vokser - strålende vin. 93-94p

91-92 for denne gang.

What a wine this is! A village classified vineyard that to me it feels more like a Grand Cru. I have the elegance of RSV with a slightly smokey touch and the complexity of Jamet Cote Rotie that play on the nose. Sweet raspberry top layer with vanilla just underneath the surface. Ten feet further down there is some juniper, white pepper, eucalyptus and medicine cabinet. This is even better than the 2015 I had maybe 6 months ago. Such great balance and power on the palate. Filled with red savoury fruit and delicate spices.

Liger Belair Dinner: Lightest color of all the wines served so far, the acidity is dominating on the palate. This is the first wine we have had today that came across as somewhat unbalanced. This one really needs time, and in glass it improved slowly. This would be the only wine today that I would be reluctant to open again at this stage, give it the time it needs.

La Paulée de NY Grand Tasting (Pier 60 - NYC): More intensity than the La Colombiere with sultry and inviting spicy black cherry. Ripe, spice-accented fruit on the palate with good concentration and polish. 92+

Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): I am a big fan of Clos du Chateau. Intense pure black fruit, crushed blackberry and black cherry, mocha, liquid smoke and limestone mineral. Beautiful silky palate, warm yet pure and precise. Excellent showing, more like a 1er cru. Year in and year out, Clos du Chateau seems to drink beautifully and never really shutdown.

Very fine with equal parts red fruits and mineral. It has exquisite balance at this early juncture and structural elements are tucked in yet supportive.

Pale and thin but with great flavors. Nice spice and stems but seemed advanced. Not sure how this will age.
