Although I intended to open the next bottle in 4 years, this one was ready today. Surprisingly even some port on the nose in the beginning ... not the best bottle? But it disappeared over time. Very nice and smooth. Well integrated tannins.

Still very fruit driven. Cassis, black cherries, dark berries. Tannins are still present and not completely soft yet. No hurry to drink up. The wine can easily last for anther 10 years. I will try the next bottle in 5 years.

Weekly tasting group #215; Old- or New World wine? (@ The factory by MN): In the bouquet dark forest fruits, leather, meaty, rustic and autumn impressions. On the palate dark berries, dark cherries, herbs, licorice, vanilla, chocolate, good acidity and mild tannin. A lovely wine which is ready now, but there is no real hurry. 90 – 91

Weekly tasting group #158; A mixed set of red wines. (@ My place): In the bouquet a beautiful and mature wine with dark and red forest fruits and sweet spices. Same on the palate. A firm amount of sweetness balance by good acidity and silky soft tannin. The wine is completely ready now. Probably best to drink it over the next two years.

A bit disapointing, last one I drank was from -03, and that one did not have any of the smokey flavours that this had. Unmisstakingly a wine from Sout Africa. The Wine can rest in the cellar for another couple of years.

Platter tasting (By UG): Dark carmine red, so a slightly developed color. In the bouquet just a little bit of pleasant barnyard, cedar and black fruits. On the palate concentrated, juicy and lush, ripe black as well as red berry fruits and a pleasant dose of oak. Some sweetness as well. Compared to the Kanonkop (Paul Sauer) wines this one is much less classical than I expected. Nevertheless a great wine. Ready now and the next few years.

Ruby red, black fruit, tobacco slightly herbal nose. Unmistakably South African bold dark and raspberry fruits. Good length grippy tannins. Probably will improve for another couple of years.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It aged a total of 27 months in new French oak barrels. Decanted for2 hours. Very expressive on the nose with coconut, vanilla, oak and sweet plums. On the palate, it's full bodied, satiny texture, medium astringency with medium aftertaste. It paired very well with pork ribs accompanied with seasoned organic sweet potatoes. Very good! Recommended!

Dark purple. Great nose of berry, spice, tobacco and peat. Add minerals and nice acidity for a nuanced wine. Appealing mix of old and new world Cabernet.

This South African cabernet sauvignon has a dark red core with a slight coppery edge. Its fabulous nose evokes the essence of fresh flowers, dark berries, graphite and leather. The taste of this medium-bodied wine is relatively dry dominated by an earthy mineral profile with hints of smoke and leather. Overall, a stylish and complex wine except that the middle palate is quite weak and unexciting.

Dark garnet. Dark berries, smoke, cedar, animal notes on the nose. Mid-full bodied and nicely balanced with lush fruit, firm but juicy tanins and balancing acidity. Long finish. An excellent Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 5 years.

Currant, plums, and spice on the nose. Intense with some heat due perhaps to the high alcohol content of 14.5%. Long finish. I liked this with the pan grilled steak.

Boekenhoutskloof Winemakers dinner. (@ Bottles; Sas van Gent, Netherlands): Dark and red berries in the bouquet and on the palate, but beside the 2003 and 2005 this 2004 is the most elegant with a little more acidity, but less tannin. Nevertheless a beautiful wine.
