Holiday Wine Party at Tom & Bruna's (Edina, MN): Day 1: Black olives, spices, funk, stone, floral, vibrant fruits and tar. Medium to long finish and showing that terroir. Love this wine and almost everything they do. 94 points Day 2: Stopped by my friends to try this again and it was even better. Stone, funk black olives, tar, roasted meats, floral and minerals. Nice fruit profile with the earth elements. Beautiful wine. 95 points Recommendation: This is a great value and $100 well spent.

Very Very funky nose , off putting , tangy .......needed 3 hours to blow off revealed a very nice syrah. Smooth and easy , with a small spine. Needed the air to be drinkable.

This wine continues to evolve at a snail's pace. Brilliant red fruit accompanied by olives, herbs, brine and very mild tannins. This is not too aggressive to drink today, but you need to have a taste for all the stem greenery and spices which should integrate in due time.

Drank this wine over 4 nights, the first glass was all sour cherry and band-aid. After sitting in my cellar for 24 hours, this wine was singing - ripe fruit, meat, olive and wonderfully balanced. I had the last glass on day 4, and the wine had reverted to its initial set of flavors - what a chameleon! Should have decanted.

Combination of crunchy and fragrant red fruits and aromatic lift from whole clusters. Gentle tannins, lots of stony minerals, and saline notes on the finish. The abundant fruit masks the structure, but this wine could use a few more years for the tannins to soften. 95+ when it gets there.

Decanted for six hours. Fairly light on the funk and more delicate than most Cayuse offerings. Really nice acidity, making it bright and energetic. Very nice.

Lighter on its feet & far less meaty than most Christophe syrahs I can remember, but really just brilliant all around. Didn't lose a step on night #2 either. Aside: very happy with the 13.5%.

Intensely aromatic with notes of sesame paste, black tea, black berries, burned sage and leaves, meat glaze, and baking spice — it’s deep, kind of funky and very pungent. Very dense on the palate with more dark fruit, hints of chocolate and more of the savory notes from the nose. Nicely structured, finishing with a tiny touch of brighter berries.
This wine is excellent and thought provoking, but you wouldn’t call it a crowd pleaser — it’s dense and intense, with a ton of savory qualities. Really enjoyed this.

Funky and incredibly aromatic. Floral and yet precise and structured, very deep and long finish. The taster who described this as overripe and over the top might have been having a completely different wine, this is the opposite of how I would describe this Cayuse, one of the best I have had from them and that says a lot. Beautiful, stunning wine.

Deep, dark, inky, purple garnet almost opaque in color. Initially reticent with noticeable funky aromas but eventually developing into full, forward & attractive nose of overripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of spice notes of pepper & earthy/dusty, raisins, floral notes of violets, mushrooms, dried herbs, tar, minerals with a vanilla notes. Full bodied with a heavy concentration of dense & intense, balanced & still rough textured, dense, overripe & deep fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, bittersweet cocoa, herbs, mushrooms, minerals & a hefty dose of vanilla. Lingering finish with noticeable sweetness. Drinks quite well with decanting and extended airing, but will may benefit from much needed additional aging. A unique style of wine that for some is overripe, over extracted & over the top.
N: Definitely forest floor (poss barnyd, though that didn't linger) interlaced with smoke & berries
P: Med body; Very RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by a puckerish astringency which fairly seamlessly transitions into quite a LONG, BALANCED finish with slight bitterness to the dusty tannins. Potentially elegant, I'm guessing this NEEDS/deserves through '21, hopefully to lose the bitterness. Assuming it does, my EXC, poss even higher. 13.5% ABV. 95-97 pts Jeb Dunnuck
Note: Though our dates differ, I *suspect* this was from the same bottle as Vinnut's TN of 1/27.

PHMG WAG: The Wine Club Tasting (The Lyon Club): My second WOTN and most controversial for this group of tasters. Cayuse "funk" is not for everyone! Savory notes abound here: leather, sangre de toro, forest floor / mushroom, pepper, and the almost barnyardy "funk". Great depth of blackberry, blueberry, currants, and black plum to balance things out. Now is fine but better 2020-2030.

Delicious minerals, earth, and meat on the funky nose and silky smooth palate with a long finish. The fruit was a bit more reticent in this bottle.

Herbs and spices and rose hips in the bouquet. On the palate the same impressions, beautiful acidity and round tannin. Lovely and very tempting wine.

MN Valley Fine Wine Tasting Meetup $100 Plus Wine Event (Minneapolis, MN): Absolutely my wine of the night. Love the funk along with the floral, stone, earth, roasted meat and rose petals. Amazing wine and should have had this at a smaller event.
