Surprisingly light for something from the Prisioner Wine Co. Very pleasant, medium acidity, soft tannins. Already showing age signals, so I guess it’s time to open the cork as it does not seem to me be it will benefit from more time in the cellar.

This was more syrupy and jammy than the last bottle. And a strange residue clung to the inside of the bottle. I believe this was stored improperly. A perfect pairing for the unlabled brisket point I mistook for a bavette and cooked improperly.

Waited 5 years to drink this bottle. Love the austere presentation. Purple hue, light body. Black fruit nose. Palate followed the nose, very smooth and mild tannins. Medium finish with a subtle lingering blackberry. Paired it with sirloin flap (aka bavette) Texas rub of chilies, mild char. A tasty wine and a great effort by the prisoner wine company. Not overly jammy like some Zinfandel. Great Summer time bbq wine. If you find it, drink it.

Blackberry, black cherry, and vague watermelon to the nose. Fat, plummy bright fruit overall. Sharp bite to the cherry and strawberry note. Some bright notes throughout. Long dry but not tannic finish. Absolutely a delightful experience.

Nose: red berry, leather, Palate: integrated tannins, initial raisin that moves to sweet red berries with a long semi-sry finish. Paired with seasoned steak, sauted onions/mushrooms with wine added. Delish!

Mouth: A melted wash of stewed plum, black cherry, and raspberry coulis flavors come through with toasted anise and ganache flavors. Everything glides through on a rush downhill to the finish. A hint of toasted white spice mingles with raspberry chocolate flavors on the lingering aftertaste.
Overall: Bold and smooth: a mouthfilling burst of upfront fruit that glides through, leaving pleasing, if easy flavors behind. This is conceived completely for the hedonists. Seems a bit in style like a Zinfandel trying to be a Cabernet..

Last bottle of 2016, which was the last year before it was produced by Constellation. Smooth and somewhat jammy but not overpowering. Tons of black fruit that pops. Saldo was always a favorite table wine and now such a shame that Constellation has turned it into a sugar bomb.

Easy drinker. Medium plus weight. Mixed fruits, but nothing that stands out. No tannin to speak of. The younger brother of the Prisoner and tastes that way as well. Well balanced and good with or without food. Just very pleasant. Drank the 2015 Prisoner next which was heavier with more structure and darker fruits and quite balanced.

Everything you expect from a Prisoner wine: big, extracted, confected, bubble-gummy notes of black cherries, cotton candy, and brown sugar against a backdrop of oak spice and wet stones. Smooth and really easy to drink but the 15.9% will get you faded in a hurry.

Opaque purple in color, this wine shows blackberry compote, black pepper and bramble on the nose. The mouth feel brings sweet, jammy tannins, more black fruits that combined somehow to bring a silky elegance. The finish was a little short and choppy though and the 15.9% abv left a noticeable burn.
Brought by my boss to dinner at a local BYOB, this is a big wine that paired well with my lamb chops entree.

Opened two hours before drinking (no decant). Deep, bright magenta ruby color. Orange rind, red cherry syrup, pine tree sap and maple on the pleasant, extracted nose. Smooth, zesty palate. Firm tannins on the medium long finish.
This is one of my wife’s guilty pleasures. It’s a decent QPR and certainly very quaffable.

Super powerful wine, alcohol content too high to make this wine enjoyable right now DO NOT drink it without decanting a couple of hours. Jammy and V8 wine...drink it with a nice juicy steak. Cellar for 4-5 years but drinkable now with a long decanting or consume on the second day (I highly recommend that). 90 points. 10/17/2018 Second day and the wine took a 180...it soften its alcohol level therefore it was able to bring all the strawberries, red plum, and jammy flavors so common on Zins. Deep Purple color. Medium finish. 91 points.

Saldo lacks richness and finish to rate any higher. Taste a little off compared to other zins. It's a soft easy drinking wine that needs more fruit, acidity, and tannins

Celebrating Judi's Birthday (Sun Wah): Raspberry and dark plummy zin fruit along with pepper and spice. Nice fruit on the palate, ripe but not overly so, carrying through the finish. Good.

Zin how I love it - not overly dry, tons of fruit, but not a bomb, and well balanced. Lovely dark nose, with blueberries, mocha and a touch of pine oil; almost sweet luscious cherries and blackcurrants, vanilla and chocolate flavors; zippy bright finish, with perfect lingering tannins. My "no red wine for me" wife loved it, so likely to be a crowd pleaser at a small dinner party.

Drank over two evenings, vacuum pumping over night. Best used the first day. Dark color, OK flavor, a bit acidic, but I prefer Seghesio at a lower price point.

Mövenpicks 70th Anniversary (Mövenpick winestore, Hamburg, Germany): One glass, brief note: 16% ABV! Are we talking about Amarone? What are these winemonsters made for? to enjoy, no way! very concentrated marmelade like sweet fruit, no structure, just the fruit steam hammer! Not made for me, no rating!
