  • First bottle from a half case purchased en primeur from the Dutch importer in 2019. Not decanted, opened two hours in advance. Single vineyard, a south-facing parcel on granite in Quartier de Reynard, old vines (80+). Youthful appearance, hardly any evolution; ditto nose, very primary, still a bit closed, crushed red berries, chalk and flowers, hint of black pepper; energetic and compact palate, full-bodied (14% ABV) and concentrated but fresh, powdery tannins are firm but well-managed; tight and youthful, stony finish. Much more masculine and structured - and in fact completely different in style from - the more basic Granit 30 and Granit 60 wines from the same producer. A beautiful wine, but in reality this powerful stuff needs another 3-5 years at least. Score based on potential.

  • Intense and perfumed nose with some barn notes. Silky soft tannins on the palate and a very nice, concentrated fruit. Long finish with stony minerality. Very enjoyable now but will for sure hold a decade or more. Delicious. Need to buy another case or two and put in the back of the cellar. 92-93P

  • I had to see for myself. I thought it would be way too young, and I was right. Very primary and dense with dark cherries and florals and gripping tannins-a mouthful. Not unpleasant by any means, but I’ll let my remaining bottles sleep for a couple of years.

  • Dark ruby with garnet edges. Complex aromas of black plums, lilacs, raw meat, malt chocolate, a hint of vanillin oak, a pinch of salt. Concentrated dark fruit on the palate with a dense winding saline character, medium + acids, strong tannins, mostly smooth with a bit of grittiness, medium alcohol, long aromatic finish. Good complexity with a bit of crunch and some lovely nooks and crannies, integrated and balanced flow from start to finish.

  • Notitie consistent met die van 06-03-2022
Aangenaam, boersige neus, wat hoekig in de mond, niet groots.

Pleasant, burly nose, somewhat angular in the mouth, not grand.

  • Full bodied and primary wine with cherries, iron and a touch of barnyard. On the palate cherries, herbs and spices, full bodied, juicy and good acidity with round tannin and firm sweetness. Beautiful wine.

  • Big and powerful from the cork pull. Purple fruit everywhere. Blackberry jam. Still holding onto tannins and a few years from peak, but not a felony to open now. This is Cornas, it's rustic and has some tobacco and a ton of black pepper. You drink this when you want a tougher cote rotie but a more refined crozes hermitage. And it does that just fine.

  • Really beautiful Cornas from Paris.
Shortly after opening quite crisp with black pepper, but quite backwards. On day two it opened up considerably with black cassis, blackberries, dark chocolate and some umaminess.
Producing world class Syrah year in, year out and still slightly under the radar. Good for them who know.

50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 10 + Smaak / Afdronk: 15 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 88/100

Colour: Bright deep red with a purplish hue. Aroma / bouquet: A striking bouquet with at first mainly farmer tones, after some time laurel licorice, darker fruit. Taste / Aftertaste: The first impression is one of 'softness'. Soft acids, buttery tannins, a soft wine with a pleasant and soft filling. In the finale, the wine shows a more tough (and even somewhat angular) side, ending with a long finish with a subtle bitterness in the aftertaste. General / potential: According to the pros and different tasting note a excellent or excellent wine, in my opinion 'very good' at most. I lack concentration and balance and have some difficulty with the 'softness' of aroma and first taste impression in combination with the somewhat angular final. 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / Bouquet: 10 + Taste / Aftertaste: 15 + General / Potential: 8 = 88/100

  • Buono, profuma di syrah e la bocca è in equilibrio. Non ha un gran allungo ma molto bevibile servito fresco.

  • Powerful aromas of ripe black fruit, cracked pepper, smoke, meat and mint. Dense and savory with masses of fine drying tannins. Much better with hearty food, with smooths out the tannin and allows the depth of fruit to show through. The fruit profile is quite ripe but not too ripe, and there's lots of savory and rocky stuff going on. Perhaps just a hint of alcohol on the finish. Very good now with food with potential to improve. Won't make anyone forget Allemand but it's also like 1/5 the price.

  • Medium bodied, traditional styling. Violet, cassis, and dark berry aromas, with more on the rich palate alongside olive, flowers, tobacco, stone, and bacon fat. Long, balanced, tannic. Wonderful blend of grace and strength. Surprisingly approachable and complex today, will drink well through 2030.

  • A week in the Northern Rhone; 12/7/2018-12/15/2018 (Lyon, Vienne, Ampuis, Chavanay, Hermitage, Cornas, St. Joseph, Condrieu & Paris): Tasted at the Domaine. From the old vine plots on Reynard - very steep slopes - south facing. Will age for up to 30 years - best to wait 10 years before it hits the drinking window. Wow - this is great stuff - dense and powerful. So the dark fruits, spices and pepper notes are there but also lots of minerals - old vines really deliver that signature. Some smoke, game and black olive lurking behind - but these are so young and fresh - that really the fruit is on display at this point. We grabbed a bottle to stash in the cellar until 2030.
