Community Tasting Notes (13) Avg Score: 92.1 points

  • First bottle from a half case purchased en primeur from the Dutch importer in 2019. Not decanted, opened two hours in advance. Single vineyard, a south-facing parcel on granite in Quartier de Reynard, old vines (80+). Youthful appearance, hardly any evolution; ditto nose, very primary, still a bit closed, crushed red berries, chalk and flowers, hint of black pepper; energetic and compact palate, full-bodied (14% ABV) and concentrated but fresh, powdery tannins are firm but well-managed; tight and youthful, stony finish. Much more masculine and structured - and in fact completely different in style from - the more basic Granit 30 and Granit 60 wines from the same producer. A beautiful wine, but in reality this powerful stuff needs another 3-5 years at least. Score based on potential.

  • Intense and perfumed nose with some barn notes. Silky soft tannins on the palate and a very nice, concentrated fruit. Long finish with stony minerality. Very enjoyable now but will for sure hold a decade or more. Delicious. Need to buy another case or two and put in the back of the cellar. 92-93P

  • I had to see for myself. I thought it would be way too young, and I was right. Very primary and dense with dark cherries and florals and gripping tannins-a mouthful. Not unpleasant by any means, but I’ll let my remaining bottles sleep for a couple of years.

  • Dark ruby with garnet edges. Complex aromas of black plums, lilacs, raw meat, malt chocolate, a hint of vanillin oak, a pinch of salt. Concentrated dark fruit on the palate with a dense winding saline character, medium + acids, strong tannins, mostly smooth with a bit of grittiness, medium alcohol, long aromatic finish. Good complexity with a bit of crunch and some lovely nooks and crannies, integrated and balanced flow from start to finish.

Aangenaam, boersige neus, wat hoekig in de mond, niet groots.

Pleasant, burly nose, somewhat angular in the mouth, not grand.
