So, buried in the back of the cellar. But love this wine. It’s drinking well as a PnP and not seeing any brown on the meniscus. Classic Porrera finesse with a deft touch of llicarella. A Prio steal!

I would think that most Cellar Trackers’ who still have the Porrera in their cellars should be relieved that the drinking window listed is a gross understatement. Priorat is one of the most underrated and least appreciated wine regions in the world. The 2016 is delicious, at its drinking apex, and showing potential for many more years of enjoyment.

What a great QPR wine. Please decant for 2-3 hours as that’s when it truly hit its stride. Delicious velvety finish with dark cherry, tobacco with a pinch of cocoa.
Nice acidity to keep it all fresh. Enjoyed immensely with a chicken and chorizo paella!

PnP, with notes of cigar box jumping out of the glass. Black cherry and cigar box lead the way on the palate, with hints of smoked meat emerging late and lingering on the medium finish. A bit rough-hewn overall and more of an acquired taste.

Dark cherry, leather, tobacco, slate, black pepper,
A touch too much hot alcohol on the finish, with Cabernet and carignan in the mix I was expecting something with a little more acid, moderate to high tannins,

Excellent value, characteristic Priorat but definitely on the more fully flavored end of the Priorat spectrum. Well constructed with lovely fruit to tannins balance. Decant to help some of the alcohol gas off. Enjoy.

I really don't understand some of the previous reviews of this wine. I think it's a perfectly satisfactory Priorat, and even more so when you consider the price point. Yes, it's alcoholic, but 15% is the ABV that Celler Cal Pla hit with this every year, so it's not as if you don't know that going in.
Nose is lovely. Spiced fruit with just a bit of vanilla. Very full bodied., with just enough tannin and acid to keep things from getting fat and jammy. Lots of black fruit and spice again on the palate (it's grenache, what do you expect?), and the faintest hint of stony Priorat gravel. As I've said of earlier vintages, this is a more fruity Priorat than you might expect, but I don't find it objectionable. Medium-long finish. Seriously, if you can't enjoy this wine, that's a "you" problem, not a "this wine" problem.

Surprised by some of the negative reviews this wine has garnered. I found this to be a great, high-QPR Priorat with character!
The nose on this displayed a surprising amount of funky meatiness along with ripe red fruit.
Surprisingly balanced and enjoyable. The fruit, acidity and tannins were all well integrated. The funky note persisted, but in a totally subtle and dynamic fashion, lifting this wine a step above the quotidian. I would’ve liked to see a little more body and a longer finish, but that’s not to detract from what this wine is - hedonistic, fun-to-drink, semi-serious Spanish goodness.
Also, I’d be curious to try the other villages highlighted in this series.
Delicious but bitter at the outset and needs to open for 90 mins at least. Then setlles into a great red with minerality, Grenache and perfect tannins. Super value imo

Brettemycoses. Barnyard and band aid mixed. No fruit left. It is spoiled. I checked a second bottle from the same lot, marked on the bottle, same thing.
I have had this wine in the past and it was excellent. This is a bad lot.

Certainly a lot of bottle variation with these. This one came on as other positive reviews read with ripe fruit upfront and animal/earth on the back end. Certainly not meant for the long haul as there is little to no acidity or structure. Nonetheless it’s drinking well and likely will for the next 1-2 years.

This black slate (there are several others) Priorat is sturdy, tannic, acidic, (rustic?) with notes of graphite, licorice, earth and minerals. the only food i found to complement it was parmasan cheese. Even a rib steak wouldn't tame it. Would it be good in 10 years?

This wine is getting a bad rap. First, it only retails for $17. Second, if you pour off a glass on Day 1 it's gonna be closed and muted. But on Day 2 it's open for business. Third, it's European! It contains the mineral component most American wines lack. Honestly, if you're not into this, then go back to Paso Robles blends. Sheesh.

Intensity lurking is right. This has entry level written all over and is priced for just that. Thin palate leads into rustic barnyard and yes... slate. No acid, no tannin, no structure and no fruit! I would have guessed it was 10 years old. Come on Jeb! 94? At least the Lafage Côtes du Roussillon Bastide Miraflors had some intensity to it.

N: Closed; Ripe berries with a distinct earthy/mineraly note; Intensity lurking?
P: LM, poss Med, body; NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by but a HINT of astringent/pucker which quite resolves by the LONG, BALANCED finish with a tangy/swtness to the few, firming, dusty tannins. For now & through '21, probably '22. 15.0% ABV; My EXC-/EXC, arguably the higher IF one focuses upon the QPR of this vendor's $15.95, which is now $1 < wine-searcher's lowest. 94 pts Dunnuck & 92 WA.

N: ATTRACTIVE iron (almost gamy?) with berries & flowers
P: LM body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent PUCKER which fairly seamlessly, somewhat works itself out by the LONG, balanced, poss very, VERY slightly puckerish/very, VERY slightly bitterish finish. Approachable now IF one loves acidity; Otherwise cellar 12-18 mos, then drink through '22, poss '23. 15% ABV; My VG+/EXC-. 94 pts Dunnuck; [This vendor's $16.99 puts it in the TOP 1/3 of wine-searcher's entries.]
Note: While today this wine was basically PnP, on 8/3 it likely had 2-1/2 - 3 hrs in a small tasting glass before I sampled it.

For now, at least with food, could improve for 6 mos or so, then drink into, poss through, '23. My EXC-/EXC (90-93/100 on that scale), the higher arguably for early drinkability & the QPR of this vendor's $15.95, which TOPS wine-searcher's current postings. 94 pts Dunnuck

Slate, slate, and more slate - whew. Like licking a rock that long ago had grapes mashed into it.
Found it reasonably mellow, and there might be some circumstances where this bottle is the right call, but I'm struggling to think of a bunch when it's this one-dimensional. It is balanced-ish, not too tart. Probably won't finish this.
